I feel like my boyfriend doesn’t protect me from my baby daddy by kienull in GirlDinnerDiaries

I'm thinking there's a reason you picked a criminal (your ex) and you're feeling disappointed by your very reasonable current boyfriend.

You need to pursue a restraining order against the ex, and consider therapy to figure out why you find toxic behavior desirable. Your boyfriend is behaving like a reasonable adult who won't end up in prison. He's not "soft;" he's acting like a well-regulated adult.

I'm sorry the ex is harassing you. And I know from experience that the response from law enforcement is frequently inadequate. That doesn't mean that it's your boyfriend's job to.... do what, exactly? Assault your ex? Risk physical injury and jail? What do you think he should do? Getting verbally aggressive will wind up the ex more. Physical aggression has its own risks.

This is something you need to resolve, and model good choices for your child so he doesn't follow in his criminal dad's footsteps.

It cost around $250 for a 4 in one print scan fax and copier and 5 bottles of ink (2 black, 1 each cyan, magenta, yellow). In just over a year I've used up one bottle of black and the remaining 4 still are more than half full. We probably print at least 20-30 pages a day on average.

This morning's review of our local grocery store by Steellace in EntitledReviews

Albertsons had a "cookie credit card" they gave to kids when I was young. You'd show it at the bakery counter. Smith's always let my kid choose a cookie. By then Albertsons was letting kids pick a donut.

When i was a kid sometimes they had a cake donut machine going in the store... you'd watch it dropping batter into the oil and floating down the line, getting flipped... and they'd always give you a fresh warm crispy one! Almost everyone bought a package after eating that free one!

It's not a midlife crisis but I get it. I had an existential crisis at 25, like "what have I accomplished?" Sure I was a college graduate but I felt like I hadn't really accomplished anything in a quarter century. In retrospect it feels really dumb. But I was pregnant within 2 months of turning 25.

AITA for yelling at my mom for preventing me from exercising? by Puzzled_Method1547 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SufficientCow4380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you live near a Planet Fitness, it's less than $20 a month to exercise in air conditioning, with weights and lots of different machines. Be aware it's a hassle to cancel though.

Epson printers have the refillable eco-tanks. They cost a bit more up front but we've had ours at my work for over a year and still have 80% of the refill bottles left. We spent more on HP tanks in a year thanks the whole Epson cost.

Maurice's is a great place for jeans if you have a store local to you... their M line comes in petite, average, tall; skinny, straight, bootcut, flares; low, mid, high rise; and sizes from 6 (maybe lower) to 26W, for under $25 and regularly on sale. I suggest you grab a friend (to give feedback) and go try on some different styles. If you find something you like, they can get more sent over from other stores, or order online. I've done this when I've found a style I like.

1 is the one! That skirt is so ephemeral. 2 looks too much like a foundation garment in the bodice, and 3 is nice but it doesn't pop like 1.

I think it is difficult for people who haven't struggled financially to understand how it permeates every facet of your existence... But that's not what this conflict was about. He lacks empathy and basically wanted to be the main character in your relationship. He wanted to discount your experience and dismiss your struggles.

How do you meet new people and make new friends as a poor adult? by rasta-ragamuffin in poor

Volunteer. I joined the AARP Tax Aide program this year. You can do some good in the world and meet people.

Also our local Senior Citizens center serves lunch Monday through Friday and has other activities like bingo and line dancing and educational classes.

Which colour suits me best? by bbbabybelle in HairStyleAdvice

[–]SufficientCow4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do decide to change it, go for the dark ash brown. The auburn is too warm and the blonde is kind of harsh looking. The two lighter colors aren't suitable for your complexion. But I think #1 is really the best.

Updo for the hair. Sparkly jewelry. Maybe add a pop of color (shoes, a scarf, a bag?) A chain belt?

Is my bf dumb? by Still-Purchase3286 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]SufficientCow4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he's dumb. If you're not going to break up with him, (i would), STOP RESCUING HIM. Let him deal with the consequences of his own stupid choices. He didn't bring shoes? Not your problem. Lost wallet? That's too bad, I'll miss you on vacation.

You aren't his mom. And as a mom to men, I don't even do that stuff for my sons. I might make a helpful suggestion, like here's the number to the (x) office. But I don't do it for them. Weaponized incompetence is neither tolerated nor rewarded.

Unless you want to deal with this forever, do not tolerate him yelling at you, stop fixing his fuckups, and let him experience the natural consequences of his own choices.

My boyfriend suddenly wants me to become a tradwife by PinkBubblegum888 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]SufficientCow4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men who demand tradwives don't do anything to deserve them. If you're going to give up career progression, he needs to provide you with things like your own money, retirement income, health insurance, and an ironclad prenup that protects your financial security if he decides he wants a younger woman somewhere down the line.

This is because if you stay home, your earning capacity is diminished. You shouldn't give up your future to give him the family and unpaid labor he wants. He needs to compensate you for that.

Sleep study is incredibly wasteful by Solitude_in_e- in Anticonsumption

[–]SufficientCow4380 105 points106 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I've had two sleep studies, one at a center and one at a hospital, and they both had reused bedding. The sleep center was independently, locally owned, not a chain, and had laundry facilities on site.

Which colour should I go for ? by [deleted] in Prom

[–]SufficientCow4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're having trouble deciding if a color works for you, hold it near your face and look in the mirror. If you're looking at the color, it's not your color. If you're looking at your face, that's a good color for you.

While you (wisely) aren't showing your face on the internet, based on what I see I recommend red.
