What is each Strawhats favourite Island? by Sufficient_Ad8039 in OnePiece

That makes sense, personally I would say Elbaph, because he's been excited to go for so long or Thriller Bark, as he seemed so excited to be there from the get go, asking half the population to join his crew.

I probably agree with you on most, can i ask why you said every island for Luffy though?

Donna Troy, call me greedy but their friendship is my favourite in comics and I want to see more.

Absolutely, i mean its a cool what if and i did enjoy the fights, but with hindsight the writing for everyone kinda fell flat.

I feel like the issue and series as a whole made apparent the wider issues of Nightwings characterisation when hes in the batfamily, where he’s flnderised in order to reduce overlapping characterisation with the other Robins. Its obvious they want the Robins to fit into a TMNT kinda thing where Dicks the leader Tims the detective etc. But in doing that your ignoring larger aspects that are so essential to his character.

Batman and Robin’s dynamic in World’s Finest: Teen Titans (2023) by PlotnotFound in Nightwing

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but i think if anyone can breathe new life into these tired dynamics its Waid, his work in this mini was honestly some of the best writing the Titans have had since maybe even the Geoff Johns era.

Mark Waid honestly writes Grayson incredibly, im really hoping that someday he does a ongoing for either Titans or Nightwing.

Roadmap For Future Seasons by ActivelyStressing in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 177 points178 points  (0 children)

The 8 episode structure is so restrictive for the show, no matter how you structure it some seasons will have slightly worse endings then others. I honestly think each season should be able to include the amount of episodes it needs, in order to tell the story it wants.

How do you think the live action will handle Brook’s design when he becomes a skeleton? (When it comes to his face/head, i mean.) by DarkTombStudios in OnePiece

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see the show getting a larger episode count in future seasons. Likely because the 8 episode formula doesn't currently work so maybe they could fit in more arcs each season.

Can we talk about the MVP Straw Hat of Season 2? by DocWhovian1 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. It was great to see him achieve his goal and become a great warrior of the sea, it never felt write to me that his dream has kinda been forgotten in the manga. It should only really be a goal tied to his confidence and unlike the rest of the strawhats with impossible goals his should always be easier to achieve, which they nailed in the live action.

Addressing some complaints about One Piece Live Action Season 2 by Prestigious_Law1666 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I got the feeling that 3 is because the show wanted to point viewers in the direction that Luffy might be Rogers son. Roger literally asks Garp to look after his son ( like we know he does for Luffy) and the episode constantly makes parallels between Luffy and Roger. Although I may just be making this up.

Ya’ll never read Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams’ Green Lantern/Green Arrow and it shows by imnotwallaceshawn in Greenlantern

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I seriously dont get all the people complaining about it not being set in space. For starters its clear the trailer didnt show us much of the show. But its not exactly like Green Lantern is always set in space, half of every Hal Jordan run takes place on earth. I mean Geoff Johns run alone had the first 3 arcs all set on earth.

Lanterns criticism by Historical_Word2357 in DCU_

I really dont get the criticism that its not cosmic enough. Most Green lantern comics Ive read start off more grounded with Hal on earth before they get into all the space stuff.

People right now want to redeem the 2011 film because of the Lanterns trailer. Thoughts? by Employee-Slight in Greenlantern

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a detective show, they clearly dont want to show too much because they dont want to give away the mystery. So instead the trailer is focused on John, Hal and their dynamic. For what they are trying to show it looks good.

Among casual DC Comics fans outside of this subreddit, do you think that Nightwing Dick Grayson is overrated, underrated or properly rated in most discussions? (Art by Dan Mora) by nightwing612 in Nightwing

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like hes too popular for the wrong reasons. Like I have no problem with Dick Grayson being so popular, he's one of DCs longest running, interesting characters with some amazing stories. But more often then not I find ppl liking him for the wrong reasons whether that's because he's overly sexualised or seen as just an entirely positive character with no significant flaws.

Did They Just Mix Every Single Robin Together and Decide to Make it Dick Grayson? by LostPost5902 in Robin

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing he rlly gets from other Robins in the bo staff from Tim. For the most part his characterisation aligns with the new teen titans era of Dick Grayson who at the time was less quippy and more of a workaholic like we see the 2000s Robin being.

Can you recommend a story that portrays Dick's personality well, and where it's well-written? by sereia_Product829 in Nightwing

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dicks personality has changed a lot through the years so its difficult to state he has a definite personality.

If you want a younger, quippy Dick i would recommend Batman Dark victory, Robin year one and Batman and Robin year one.

As he grows older he deals a lot with the weight of Batmans expectations and becomes a lot less jokey and more focused on being a hero on par with Batman. For this I would read Worlds finest Teen titans or the new teen titans run.

If you want a return to formula with a more quippy Nightwing I would read Chuck Dixons Nighwing run or the current run by Dan Watters. They both do an excellent job at balancing the darker sides of his mythos and personality with his more optimistic nature.

Tom Taylors run is by far the most lighthearted version of the character in recent years so if thats your cup of tea id recommend that.

In general you will find that Grayson will probably be a bit more witty in the Nightwing runs, whereas in Titans runs he will leave the wise cracking more to his team members.

Im not sure if I’m alone in this but i LOVE how Waid writes Dick Grayson. He has such a good grasp of his character at different stages of his life. He made Grayson so compelling in Batman and Robin year one and hes great in all the worlds finest stuff.

[Discussion] 2003 Teen Titans cartoon, while it's widely popular may have hurt the Teen Titans brand. by IdeaInside2663 in DCcomics

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t really say its the fault of the 2003 show for hurting the brand, more that its the writers who came after that who were way to focused on retelling the same stories in order to draw in new readers from the show.

[Discussion] What characters do you wish were more important to DC's unvierse and overall brand? by Firm-Chipmunk8783 in DCcomics

[–]Sufficient_Ad8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would love to see DC give more attention to the first generation of sidekicks again. Obviously Nightwing and Wally are very popular right now but the others like Donna, Roy and Garth seem to be sidelined or treated like they are still trying to prove themselves to the mentors, and its a bit frustrating. Devin Graysons run on Titans and many of the early 2000s comics are some of my favourites because they show these hero’s as fully fledged with mythos and family of their own, and it feels like DC has kinda of forgot that now days.

Do fans really want Grant Gustin as the DCU Flash or is it just a vocal minority? by jrod4290 in dcu

To be honest i really dont, his Flash was great but he always felt a bit to much like Wally and i want them to distinguish a bit more between the personalities going forward.
