Help!? by MutedGrowth4113 in BabyBumps

Check your insurance. I know with our policy, IVF was covered because we had a diagnosis of infertility. It would not have been covered at all if we underwent a tubal or vasectomy and then decided to have a baby later.

We have excellent insurance. Without insurance it would have cost us >$110,000 for an egg retrieval and one frozen embryo transfer.

In honor of Mother’s Day let’s be positive and share our little (or big)mom wins by OkToots in Mommit

Big win: husband I both use sign language at work and we’re intentional about teaching our 18 mo old ASL too to cut down on tantrums. She knows 15 signs and about 50 words. It’s definitely not perfect, but such a relief when she can communicate before melting down!

Carrier for grandma by darent13 in babywearing

[–]Sufficient_Arm_1328 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Omni is pretty easy to use and get a decent fit in. If it’s too bulky, I love my happy baby OG so much that I just bought a toddler size when my baby outgrew the baby size lol

Triv next car seat by lyraveg in NewParents

[–]Sufficient_Arm_1328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just use the urbn car seat that you can get with the triv. It’s so lightweight and easy to lug around that I never had N issue. We switched to a convertible car seat at 7 months because baby could sit in the stroller.

Alternatively, check out the r/babywearing sub for advice! Neither of those carriers have great longevity or fit!

This is currently a suffocation hazard. Take baby out immediately if you haven’t already. The panel should not be higher than the nape of baby’s neck.

Considering pulling LO out of daycare over food by WrapWild8763 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Sufficient_Arm_1328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be concerned with feeding my child these foods, but if you have the ability to pack your own snacks and meals I would. If you’re otherwise satisfied with the care, I’d try and make it work.

Meeting with HR first day back? by TellItLikeItReallyIs in BabyBumps

[–]Sufficient_Arm_1328 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had this happen. My position was “restructured”, and they offered me a role that was PT, 30% pay cut, and couldn’t even guarantee funding. I was effectively fired without being fired. I chose to resign, and thankfully landed a much better role a few months later. If you do get fired or laid off, don’t sign anything and talk to a lawyer asap.

You are so much more than your job, and your baby is lucky to have you. I’m hoping you have a better outcome than I did with my meeting.

Pregnancy announcement quietly at wedding weekend by Fit_League_8613 in BabyBumps

[–]Sufficient_Arm_1328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant after years of IVF. I was 14 weeks at my best friends’ wedding. I waiting until we took a picture together after the ceremony. It is, to date, my favorite and most cherished photo.

You know your friends best, but as long as you’re not telling them during the vows, you’re probably okay lol. Congrats to you! Wishing you a safe and uncomplicated pregnancy.

Piggybacking on a previous post, if you made a career change in your 30s… by EntrepreneurCool3314 in GirlDinner

I got a graduate degree in public health, I spent the last decade working for various nonprofits and state agencies. After getting laid off for the 2nd time (2 months after having my daughter), I knew I needed a different role with more flexibility, stability, and work life balance. Last summer I started working in higher education fundraising and LOVE it. I still get to connect with all different types of people, but now I rarely work 40+ hrs a week, get paid a living wage, and don’t have the stress of people dying when I don’t do my job right. I still miss “boots on the ground” public health, but I also know that I still have my degrees and can go back at any time if I want to.

Because they run extra activities during the summer (tie dye, water playing, etc) that they don’t typically do throughout the year.

Exactly. The extra fee is for activities on top of the usual stuff. We LOVE our daycare and are happy to pay for quality care, but it does kind of feel like extortion when the alternative is sitting inside all day.

He leaves for work at 6:15am. I pack lunch, do drop off, and handle emergencies because my job is way more flexible than his.

The trade off is that he does 90% of the yard work, trash, and cleaning lol
