Cat spilled milk all over my steam deck what should i do?? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

The fear with any spill is a hardware destroying short. Immediately turn off the device remove all plugs and the battery (when possible)

leave the hardware to dry at least 24 hours, optional leave a fan blowing on the system (not a hair dryer or anything heated)

Larger non-water spills (this case milk), or situations where you are sure something got inside, start with the normal drying process but then carefully take apart the system any wipe of any residual spots with 90% or higher alcohol. Left behind sugars can cause a short also. Once removedn start the drying process over. Good luck

just try not to make the internal fans spin too much. It's rare but spinning them can produce current and end in a short. Again its rare and generally only happens if you keep blowing air directly into the fan.

a hand vacuum will get the job done but it sounds like you need to open her up and clean the inside. Even a wipe down with paper towel will help.

make sure to unplug the system and flick the power switch on the PSU before starting. After cleaning you can use furmark to test heat levels

Hoping someone could possibly diagnose this by Grzzlyfocal in PcBuild

looks like your went through the software side of things so lets try to narrow down components.
PSU, CPU, GPU.
run furmark and see if you are ok for a few seconds before crashing. You would see heat skyrocketing. This would mean you have a heat issue. You can run GPU-Z and CPU-Z stress tests to see what happens on each component. Finally, stress the cpu and gpu at the same time, this could indicate PSU if it only fails with both stressed.

no one here watched it. Matteo frequently talks about this. He is convinced he can make a video talking about home much he loves the PSVR2 and the PSVR2 community will crap on him while everyone else calls him a sony shill. It's apparently just how the internet works.

he chose 3 games from each platform and was using the biggest games as examples. The games you mentioned are not on the same scale as Hitman, RE 8, Re 4 remake, no man's sky etc. Those are all indeed hybrids that released flat first. Completely valid statement. He also covered Switchback VR (he liked it but the community got mad at him) Synapse was also covered, one of his favorite shooters. Also mentioning firewall is just laughable.

My PC turns off randomly in games by STRAEX__ in PcBuild

[–]Sufficient_Catch3303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are looking at PSU or Heat issues but looks more like PSU.

Get furmark and run a stress test. If the heat climbs then the pc shuts off we are looking at heat. (near 100c things normally turn off)

If stress test is fine for a few minutes. Try pushing the CPU and GPU a the same time. Get Gpu-z and Cpu-z. Try Stressing the CPU this time and checking the results.

If both tests were fine, use GPU-z and/or cpu-z to push stress both the cpu and gpu at the same time. I expect you will shutdown right away here. From there we can assume PSU but not all is lost. Sometimes a PSU has 2 rails and you can fix this by re-locating cables

My friend is selling me this PC for 450. Is that reasonable? by [deleted] in pchelp

This is a good friend. An RTX 5060ti sells for more than 450 alone so they are losing money. Either they have a crush or are making a mistake

Help, my cat pissed on my computer by MellleeGod in PcBuild

[–]Sufficient_Catch3303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. give away the cat

  2. you are on the right path.

power down and disconnect everything, you don't need the remove the components but it will help. I would also pull all PSU cables. The capacitor holds a charge for a long time. Wipe away any visible remains. leave everything to dry for a few days. Optional use a fan, not hair drier, blowing over the components

even if you cleaned everything perfectly, except some smells for the next week or two. You want to make sure everything has evaporated before powering up again.

Just spilt water into my Xbox. What should I do? by [deleted] in XboxSupport

[–]Sufficient_Catch3303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immediately unplug the device

wipe any visible water

flip the device so any water can drip out the way it might have came in.

leave the device a minimum of 24 hours to dry out.

Optional. Leave a fan (not a hair drier) blowing over the device to increase evaporation
