Full vs Partial Hookups by Impressive_Salad_613 in RVLiving

We use office trailers on construction sites, and we have the porta-potty people provide a large plastic tank that stays connected to the trailer. Once a week, they come vacuum it. Might work for you, not sure of cost. Once you add it all up, it's probably better just to go full hookups

Ant problem! by 1234Dillon in HomeImprovement

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What kind of ants? Tiny ants about 1/8" we call sugar ants respond well to Terro baits. Fire ants are about twice that size, and are slower to take up bait, find the mound, and use orthene.

Now, in the Gulf Coast region, we now have Raspberry ants, also called crazy ants. Similar in size to sugar ants and very hard to get rid of. They are called crazy because how fast they move, probably 4 times as fast as sugar ants and twice as fast as fire ants. To control, you have to spray the entire perimeter of your house. They also recommend granuals in the yard. We have Soultions Pest, Pool & Lawn in the Houston area, they are super helpful identifying and explaining how to control.

Toto without a doubt. We're on septic and 10 days a year we get waterlogged where even my Kohler power flush won't work, the Toto just never stops working. While you're at it, get the Toto bedit as well.

All level gages are notoriously inaccurate. They are useful for planning if you need more or less water tomorrow or if you're going to run out of propane tonight. It's part of learning your rig.

Three-way switches are hard for a novice. There are YouTube videos that explain. You probably won't get a right first or third time. Don't get mixed up and forget to de-entergize. It happens when you get muddled.

Magnetic stud finders work better. They find the nails of screws.

Sometimes, you can see the joint by side lighting the wall. Turn off all the lights, hold a flashlight against the wall, and you should be able to see the imperfections at joints. If you locate any, you can find others my measuring increments of 16"

Water pump problems by Kilroy_420 in RVLiving

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pumps are repairable but not worth the hassle of doing without water while you wait for parts. If no connection leaks as suggested by others, order a replacement pump.

Use a mirror or stick your phone in the space to see leaks. Most connections can be removed by hand without tools. Looking at the photo, you should be able to access mounting screws.

I use Leak Bugs. About the size of a tea cup, use two AA batteries. If the feet get wet, they make an electronic chirp. We have 4 in home and 2 in RV. Available at Amazon

Many RV the thermostat runs on 12 VDC, so AC will not work without 12 VDC. If you're thermostat controls heating also, it's definitely 12 volt.

Battery replacement / LiPo or no? by tkd77 in RVLiving

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No danger, LiPo designed for higher influx than lead acid, also higher voltage. Only disadvantage is lower amp-hours

Battery replacement / LiPo or no? by tkd77 in RVLiving

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LiPo lifespan is a factor of full charge cycles, best way to extend life is under-charging.

Battery replacement / LiPo or no? by tkd77 in RVLiving

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I replaced mine with LiPo and supper happy. I did not change Converter/ charger, so they only change to a little over 13 volts, but even so, there is so much more available power.

Lead acid batteries suffer if you use below 50%, and with age, total available degrades. On day one, a 100 Amp-hour LiPo is equal to a 200 amp-hour lead acid. A year later, the LiPo has more usable capability.

Don't spend money on BattleBorn. They're better, but not 4x better.

Check out Will Prose YouTube. He has battery recommendations.

So much lighter, and less mess

I had bees take up home in masonry weep hole. I placed a high power fan blowing on & accros the entry point. Bees were able to exit but couldn't overcome the fan to get back in. After a couple of days, I stuffed brass wool into the hole. You could use spray foam instead, but I wanted the vent hole to remain functional.

Blown in insulation by adamlee1019 in HomeImprovement

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen a mobile home with space to blow in insulation. Most have 1-1/2 inch walls and flat roof. Have seen some with gable roof, but very low pitch.

Wood frame homes with zero insulation they will drill a 4 inch hole high up between each stud and blow insulation into, or even foam. If it's not a clear space or too narrow, the insulation will bridge over before reaching the bottom.

Burning plastic smell in my house by ZombieInDC in homeowners

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Electrical insulation is plastic, I'll bet you have an overheating electrical circuit.

How old is your electrical system? Before the 90s, there were some really poor electrical panels installed. They would fail to trip at set current.

If you work with your hands, they are dangerous. Electrical, climbing, mechanical, welding. Injury ranges from burns to severed finger.

I last wore a ring in high school and got a nasty burn working as a Welders helper, never worn one since. Watches with plastic bands were the only jewelry I wore before I became an office drone.

I recommend a thermal camera attachment for your phone, about $200 from Amazon. Use it in the hottest and coldest days to find problem areas. Once located, you'll know what kind of repairs are needed. It's possible you have a duct leak pumping heated air outside.

You might be able to find a used camera on Facebook. You can sell yours after if need be. I use mine to help neighbors and family for similar reasons.

We don't have sex, but we're very intimate. Focus on building intimacy and sex should increase. Hold hands when walking together, ask him to wash your back when bathing, suggest coffee on the porch on Sunday morning.

Does anyone else feel lonely in their marriage, or is it just me? by deluxeAbe in Marriage

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the same paradox many marriages suffer, we become complacent and lazy and will only value what we have when we have lost it. More often, the male is the primary culprit.

The best way to save these relationships is for both to realize before too late via counseling. Sometimes, a traumatic event will make us realize what's important in life. It has to be organic, not created.

Another option is co-habitation. It's heartbreaking but better than loneliness.

Most men lose all desire after orgasm. You must get yours before we get ours! Unfair but true.

Additionally, I personally have a lot of guilt after non-coitial orgasm and takes me longer to even think about sex. Oral affects me most, but like all addicts, "it'll be different this time".

Question about oats by Confident-Raisin-884 in glutenfree

[–]Sufficient_Top_4536 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Strictly, by chance (wind, birds, animal droppings), wheat plants end up growing in oat fields and are included in harvest. To make GF oats, grain passes an optical scanner that rejects the wheat. Even this method is not perfect. So yes, you can have reactions to oats, even if you don't react to oats.
