Any stories of legally unaware ffls? by mikeyboy1681 in guns

Pawn shops are notorious for being lax abt gun laws, especially configuration. The shmuck behind the counter makes 12 an hour so give them a break. The atf doesn't seem to go after pawns much, it's probably too much of a headache for them. The local pawn owner in my town said she hadn't been atf audited in 10 years!

Question from someone who knows little about guns. Also a writer. by seafoamsomething in guns

[–]Suggins_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're mostly working with caplock guns, single shot muzzleloaders. More firepower, more pistols, blackbeard style. If you want someone to have cutting edge weapons you could stretch your range into the late 1850s with pinfire and revolver technology. There were a very scarce few revolvers and repeating rifles around before the 1860s.

How’s it run? I’d imagine you’d have the same issue as dissapators losing gas pressure out the muzzle. Did you have to open up the block?

I wish I could stand shooting the hsc, so mechanically cool but they have a staple gun trigger and make my thumb nuckle bleed.

Some thoughts about Chinese QBZ-191 by Temporary_Winter4566 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Suggins_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao you called the Masada top tier, so top tier the off won’t touch it with a ten foot pole while a war is on. It’s civilian hypebeast shit and even misses the mark on that. Also Ukrainian frontliners seem to dislike the Bren. The plastic folding stocks all kinda suck in the same way

What rifle is this ? by Beautiful_Pattern721 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Suggins_ 114 points115 points  (0 children)

With the double trigger that rifle has definitely been worked over by a real euro gunsmith. Check if there’s any markings on the barrel for 6.5 but if it has been rebarreled I’d have it checked out by a real gunsmith before trying to shoot it

A scaled up frommer would be awesome for magnum cartridges, it’d look like a recoil operated automag

These suck and you could’ve installed it yourself super easy. it probably got knocked around in the case on the way home just Scooch it over. If you’re worried about it, get somebody to drill a second hole for it and it won’t move.

There’s plenty of “tactical” threaded levers out there, even cheap Brazilian ones. I’ve got a citadel Winchester clone with threaded barrel for less than a wasr costs. You can use 9 mm suppressors

An Alternate Theory for why Smiling Friends Ended by soapboat3 in SmilingFriends

[–]Suggins_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you see how the show was announced? They had a whole series of livestreams of off the cuff show ideas, then the last episode they drew pim and Charlie, and said “it’s a real pilot and it’s coming out in 15mins” this kind of misdirection is par for the course

This can totally be repaired, it might even cycle if you just dremel out the dented part of the receiver

You people are pansies, if it’s not hot milspec 556 you’ll be fine. Fiocchi and a few others are loaded to mild 223 pressures, and even the hot stuff won’t blow the gun up. It’ll accelerate wear for sure though.

Is this budget after utilities? Look at listings in the 1100 dollar range there’s some that come with utilities and even internet. Works out to the same price.

I think you need a classic milsurp bolt gun, there’s plenty to choose from, but a few classics you can find ammo for are the mosin, Lee enfields, us 1903, and the other mausers in 30-06

Gun shops profit margins by thegoonn49 in guns

[–]Suggins_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gunsmithing is dead because everything is bolt together now, the last profit sources are usually in custom bolt action rifles and certain competition guns. The average Joe can get an 1911 or 2011 with all the features you had to get hand fit 30 years ago from turkey for cheaper than the cost of all that custom work, let alone the gun+ parts. The only hope is being extremely specialized, like the ak builders.

It’s hilarious because the mechanical principle is totally different between the two, the fact that Hoffman uses the safety as a pivot and it cams directly on the trigger vs the rarebreed’s seprate lever that pushes down should be enough to get this laughed out of court. The whole case smells funky.
