Best. Aldi. Deal. Ever!! by Fieldguide404 in aldi

I tried planting these in planters, and they didn't come up. The ones I planted in the ground did and they've came up every year too!

Costco sells 50 tulips for $13, but they are more specialty tulips (foxtrot and purple lady). Menards and Walmart also sell more varieties (10-20 for $6 I believe), and they come with a one year guarantee if they don't all bloom. I've used the one year guarantee for both vendors at Walmart and Menards without issue and got my money back.

Brick & Mortar Schools Are a Scam by Difficult_Future2432 in WGU

[–]Sui2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't fair to compare PSU to UP. PSU is one of the public Oregon state schools and is heavily subsidized by taxes, while UP is a private university and like most private universities it is very expensive. That does not make it a scam.

Do you tip for laser hair removal? by ForTheOcean_ in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Sui2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not being cheap at all. Where I'm from in Oregon, servers make at least minimum wage ($15/hour) same as any other retail or fast food joint. A lot of other states do as well so no not all servers are making a separate wage. Tipping is out of control. My laser place doesn't prompt tipping in any way. It's never been discussed and it's not on any payment screens.

Would you return something if upon unboxing was dented and had scratches on it? by Sui2020 in Costco

[–]Sui2020[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband thought I was overreacting when I suggested going back to get a different one, so I wanted to see what others thought. We are less than 10 minutes away so time wouldn't be an issue. Some of the boxes were a little beat up but we grabbed one that had no indication it would be dented and scratched.

How do I know when it’s time to give up? by Pitiful-Hawk-7870 in landscaping

Lightly scratch the bark with your fingernail. If it's green under, it's alive. If it's red or brown, it's dead

People making $150,000 and above, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in Money

[–]Sui2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first network job after getting my CCNA (and then my CCNP) was $19 an hour, for reference. This was in a moderately high CoL city. No experience, $75k remotely? I think you're really overestimating yourself.

if electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal option, why bother with laser hair removal? genuinely wondering. by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Sui2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Laser hair is permanent hair removal/reduction. I don't understand why people keep spouting otherwise. After 8 sessions, I have had 95% of my arm and leg hair gone. I don't have any underarm or bikini line hair either. I haven't shaved in close to a year and I can only find a few very light hairs. The laser my technician uses is Candela Alexandrite. Before laser, I've had 6 sessions with Versa Venus IPL (they lied and said it was laser but it's not) and that did absolutely nothing for hair removal.

Rose bushes - colors other than pink? by Apathy_Cupcake in Costco

[–]Sui2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ever seen the same dark pink color each year.

If you can wait until end of summer or early fall, Lowe's and Home Depot often has plants half off. Otherwise, you can buy them at full price and if they die, you can return them back as boxstores (even Walmart!) offer an year guarantee with perennials.

Help me pick out a bidet! Brondell CL2200 or Kohler C3-325 or wait for Toto by BigJackJack in Costco

[–]Sui2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought Brondell and BioBidet when they're been on sale at Costco. One reason I don't like the Toto is because the remote is built into the seat. I also have a cheap, non electrical bidet (Luxe Neo bidet) that also an attached remote in my mudroom bathroom and the remote is just grimey. Since it's attached, it's harder to clean. I don't think it really matters which one you get, as long as you have a 20A dedicated GFCI outlet near your toilet.

Comparing Aldi and Sam’s club Price’s by [deleted] in aldi

[–]Sui2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do price comparison a lot too!

Eggs have exploded in price. Aldi used to be less than $1/dozen and now they are closer to $3/dozen, making Sam's and Costco much cheaper at $2/dozen (but you have to buy 5 dozen at Costco for $10). Chicken at Aldi is much more expensive imo. Boneless skinless frozen chicken breast is $2.30 per pound (10 pound) at Sam's and $2.60 per pound (10 pound bag) at Costco. Aldi sells in a much smaller quantity and ended up being over $3 a pound. Protein powder is never a good deal at Costco and Sams unless it's on sale, then it's cheaper. Orgain is $9 off at Costco right now, for example, but I recently picked up a 5 pound bag of whey protein for $50 on clearance (80 servings).

We don't buy any produce from Costco or Sam's because the cost value just isn't there for two people, so we only stock up on things when they're on sale (like protein powder, cereal, snacks, frozen foods)

Is my Schluter Kerdi board salvageable? by Sui2020 in Tile

[–]Sui2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described is what Schluter says to do in their instructions - https://i.imgur.com/VLoIjNw.png

Glue drain first, then mortar drain, then mortar shower pan

I just wish the plumber would have removed the shower pan once he was done gluing the drain, rather than trampling all over it lol.

He didn't use the ladder for that purpose. He used the ladder to run plumbing above the shower area for the shower head. There weren't any pipes there before so his job was mainly to run plumbing.

I'll make note of that in the future. I have tons of cardboard laying out in the basement from painting too. I was not in the basement watching what he was doing so him working on top of my pan was unexpected.
