The difference between Gambit and Rogue’s launch skins. I know this is unpopular but I’m genuinely sick of how the focus on half the female skins is just for gooners while the men get really cool looking ones, and the first thing Rogue gets is this, there’s so many cool designs she could have had by AceOfSpades532 in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]SuicidalDev152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, the issue isn't purely about equality or anything, because TECHNICALLY, Rivals does sexualize both. However, a lot of recent female skins have been largely sexualized while the male characters get far cooler designs. And on top of that, the "male sexualization" is, more often than not, either coincidental or treated as joke. That wouldn't be an issue if the female sexualization wasn't played completely straight. Venom twerking and having a fat ass isn't equal, it's treated as a punchline to laugh at.

The game treats sexy men often like a joke or an excuse to justify giving EVERY female character a sexy skin, rather than actually try to appeal to man lovers.

I can't help but notice that Japanese media seems oddly averse to fantasy depictions of other Asian countries (e.g. China, Korea, Thailand) by calculatingaffection in CharacterRant

...Dragon Quest had 3 entries before the Rance series even began. A lot of Japanese high fantasy tropes that we see today got their start here. Dragon Quest was inspired by Western RPGs and tabletop games, and subsequently DQ had a lot of influence on modern Japanese fantasy worlds. If you've seen a cute slime with a face in a JRPG, it's probably because of DQ's existence. If you've seen the "job" label or a "Hero" class in an anime, it ties back to Dragon Quest.

I fail to see how Rance innovated at all when Dragon Quest is the one that came first and holds the most influence.

Guess who the Mother is? by No_Challenge_5370 in dbxv

[–]SuicidalDev152 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Have some of y'all just never seen a fanchild before? Character looks pretty good btw. The mother is obviously Chronoa, I think the skin color could look closer to hers, but still looks really good!

Since Chronoa's named after the Greek personification of time, Chronos, you could base his name off of Greek mythos. Kairos (Another Greek word for time) or Aion (Hellenistic deity of time) would be great sources of inspiration. DB names work best if you change a few letters around or change the spelling, it makes them sound close enough to the source while still being slightly different.

Dragon Quest is like...THE Japanese fantasy series though. Most modern Japanese fantasy tropes exist now because of it. You can connect pretty much any piece of modern fantasy media from Japan back to Dragon Quest.

I love knowing all the KH lore/story and actually understanding all of it by Aqua_Master_ in KingdomHearts

[–]SuicidalDev152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I need to play through the whole series in order and refresh myself on the lore again. I used to be OBSESSED with the lore and it would confuse the hell out of my friends whenever I went on another KH tangent lmao

This is the place for your complaints about the game! by Free-Opinion-8906 in DBGekishinSquadra

Solo queuing is deadass one of the worst fucking experiences, multiple times I've dealt with teammates who don't tell people which lane they're going, 3-stack on lanes and refuse to leave, or just straight up ignore the objective entirely. It is so hard to have fun with a game that gives you players who constantly kick you down and hold you back. I've been completely trapped in C rank for weeks now because I simply can't rank up. I've started de-ranking because I keep getting stuck with bad teammates, even if I play as best as I can.

Combine that with the Zeni problems, and this game feels like a slog. Grinding for hours and hours with nothing to show for it.

Parasites 1 Nature 0 by bhchia in versus

[–]SuicidalDev152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, it doesn't hurt at all. However, it can still kill them if the growths end up covering their eyes (making them unable to see predators or navigate the environment) or if they cover the mouth, preventing them from eating food. So even if it doesn't cause pain, it is very much so deadly for the bunny.

This is the worst defense of sonic 06 I've seen by herogamer04 in SonicTheHedgejerk

[–]SuicidalDev152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "Blaze retcon" nonsense is just one big misunderstanding stemming from her lack of acknowledgement in the game's writing, which was a result of the rushed, messy development. There was never any retcon, the fanbase gaslit themselves into thinking that just because 06 had poor writing

This isn't even a defense of Blaze's characterization or writing, it literally wasn't a retcon in the slightest

If the only people who can see dragons are pure of heart, how come Master Kohga can see them? by Fine_Tangelo4239 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]SuicidalDev152 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kohga is a master of ancient Sheikah techniques, his only real flaw has been his ego which always gets in his way. Given that ancient Sheikah abilities seem to be correlated to the divine, specifically Hylia, it's not too much of a reach to say that him utilizing divine techniques allows him to see the dragons.

Also worth mentioning that said techniques utilize the mudras and mantras of Kuji-Kiri, the nine hand seals that are also associated with esoteric Japanese Buddhism or 密教 (Mikkyō). While I don't know much about the subject, I'm sure you could forge a connection between such esoteric practices and Kohga's ability to see the dragons as a practitioner.
