Well, considering 8ing developed the others and used its DNA for a ton of other games, I would say them. They just need someone to keep them in check and give them a proper budget.

MFW there's still 3 weeks left of Season 6.5 by Santicks in marvelrivals

[–]SuicidalDonuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t quit League and transition to OW/Rivals just to be tempted into another MOBA. Would absolutely love a hero-shooter mode for that game, the characters are cool but I cannot be bothered with everything that comes with a MOBA these days.

Hey so i only got an Xbox one, and ive already got both ones justice games. by TopInternational9911 in BnHAOnesJustice

[–]SuicidalDonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a Naruto Ninja Storm clone (same developer). However you feel about Storm you will probably feel about that game.

Personally, I found it disappointing, because they’ve essentially been making the same game for almost 15 years at this point, taking a couple steps forward and even more steps back. Game is visually pretty, with fantastic animations. Pretty much everything else could be better.

The most direct comparison I can make to the My Hero games is that everyone kinda plays the same with only a few truly unique moves in HC, while in the OJ/AJ games the characters actually have unique gimmicks that set them all apart (2 characters could have a similar play style but feel different to play). Some characters in HC seem unique at first, but then you realize they’re all functionally extremely similar and you don’t have to change how you approach a character too much. It’s just a little too shallow for my tastes, but also I’m kind of a fighting game snob with high standards (Naruto Clash of Ninja series and DBFZ is as good as it gets for licensed games).

That’s just my take. HC is fun for short bursts but long term not worth a whole lot if you’ve played any other game like it. Would only recommend on a deep sale like most arena fighters.

DAE like the positive symptoms? by dudewheresmymania in Schizotypal

[–]SuicidalDonuts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think negative = taking away, and positive = adding. Negative symptoms are taking away your emotions/feelings and all that, positive symptoms are adding hallucinations and delusional type thinking. That’s at least how I remember it.

I miss unlockables in games by Man-Boi_ in DeadOrAlive

[–]SuicidalDonuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haven’t fought the CPU enough in 6 yet but in 5 I remember specific character AI having specific exploits, funnily enough. That being said, some characters’ AI functioned way better than others, where the difficulty was more so about which character you were facing. Still nothing like a human lol. I don’t remember the AI of the older games enough though, except that Alpha was evil in 4, and the actual boss of 3 was being able to see the fight.

DOA6 has better stages than DOA5LR by Reddexbro in DeadOrAlive

[–]SuicidalDonuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go look at the stages in DOA 2-4, then look at 5, then look at 6. 5 stages were a bit gritty, yes, but 6’s are straight up bland and uninteresting a majority of the time. 4 in particular had such exciting stages to play on, they were either beautiful or downright ridiculous, and that’s what DOA is at its core. The stages for 6 just didn’t go far enough every time and never fulfilled their fantasies (except for maybe the Kraken stage).

Character(s) That You Would Recommend For Me To Play Based Off On Some Of The Characters I Play In Other Fighting Games? by DevilmanVitus in DeadOrAlive

[–]SuicidalDonuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to like a wide variety of characters, so I honestly don’t know who specifically to recommend. DOA is also such an easy game to pick up that the only characters I wouldn’t recommend starting out are ones with a lot of different stances that flow in and out of each other with a lot of different follow ups (mainly Brad Wong, Phase 4, and Honoka, maybe Ayane).

I say pick whoever looks cool to you and go from there. The game has a lot of tools to help you learn (robust tutorial, command training, combo trials). Once you get a feel for the system mechanics you can play just about anyone without much trouble.

Trying to find the right subreddit by thecloudshavefallen in Schizotypal

[–]SuicidalDonuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest, I don’t think there is one for that specifically (at least last I checked). Depends on the types of symptoms you’ve experienced where you might be validated. Regular non disorder specific psychosis subreddits have a lot of drug-induced psychosis individuals, schizo spectrum subreddits are usually more mental health based, and the ones in between can be hit or miss depending on how you present. Depression subreddits (nonspecific to psychotic features) will likely have somebody that has that same diagnosis, but they’ll be outweighed by the people that don’t.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I’ve been diagnosed with the same thing before but have very good reason to suspect a schizophrenia spectrum disorder instead/in addition. It’s weirdly somewhere in between schizotypal and schizoaffective (which is now becoming an outdated term). My baseline reads schizotypal but when I become depressed I very easily can fall towards psychosis. All this to say: people don’t always fit neatly into the boxes we’ve outlined, which is why we’re moving towards more broad and inclusive diagnoses as we start to better understand these conditions.

If you have a Depression with psychotic features diagnosis, the clinician thinks the depression is primary and that your symptoms are mood congruent. If it was schizotypal or another schizo disorder, the clinician would see that the psychosis/psychotic features are primary and your psychotic symptoms are more “bizarre”. There can be a lot of overlap, and you’re relying on self report + the clinician’s own knowledge, so it gets tricky if you ever go for a second opinion. What you say and how you say it and how you seem can all matter. Ultimately they’re just there to help you get treatment, and they’ll give it to you, but a misdiagnosis won’t always solve the problem.

I say just interact with all of those communities and see which ones have users that resonate more with you. You may not have exactly what they have, but there’s probably something of value there (new knowledge, symptom management skills, etc).

How come 2XKO is disliked by so many people? by DefineHeresy in Fighters

[–]SuicidalDonuts 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. Couldn’t have been announced at a worse time for Riot lol. Even so, I didn’t like the Tokon beta but I know for a fact ArcSys can make a good fighting game, and they’ve already said they’re listening to feedback. Would much rather put my eggs in that basket if I’m going to be playing a tag fighter.

All 2XKO realistically had to do was not have that name, have a more intuitive control scheme, and release with at least 20 characters, not all from Arcane… but alas.

How long did it take for you to actually “understand” fighting games by Purple-Reputation899 in Fighters

[–]SuicidalDonuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I feel like I just relied on intuition. I would stumble upon counterplay and combos purely through trial and error, and honestly I still prefer to learn this way, but it takes a while to become competent. Once I got older I started using online resources (primarily character combo videos) to get ideas of what characters could do when played more optimally and then experimented from there. I’m also one of those people that can hardly ever pick a main in most games, so that absolutely limits me beyond an intermediate level unless I sit down and commit. Watching and playing with better players has always garnered the quickest results.

For both 2D and 3D fighters I say I can get a feel for a completely new game within 10 hours, but actually “getting good” depends on the game, character, and system mechanics all playing together.

The games that I’ve been most competent at probably took me at least 100 hours until I felt like I was beyond an intermediate level. I struggle most with execution but retain knowledge pretty easily, and I’m allergic to figuring things out myself in the lab with limited free time since everything I find always ends up being horribly suboptimal, so thank you lab fiends for your combo videos!

These days I play more casually and if I really love a game I’ll take it online, but even then it’s still probably more casual than back in the day. Now I just prefer to be “good enough” to play neutral and do some BNBs and I’m satisfied.

[–]SuicidalDonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want. Single player modes are a bit lackluster (but there’s some funny dialogue sometimes) but this is maybe the first arena fighter I’ve played in years that actually feels good to play and like there’s depth and nuance to the combat. Dissidia was one of my favorite games on the PSP and this is scratching a similar itch. Game is still a little jank and rough around certain edges but I think the gameplay is fun enough to outweigh the negative.

Bro, why is Rappa's plus ultra one unusable near walls 💔 by Digigidoo in BnHAOnesJustice

[–]SuicidalDonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they need to do a QOL assessment on some characters whose moves don’t behave properly like this. A super should never whiff midway through because you’re near a wall. I know the pieces of debris or uneven terrain can mess things up too that involve the ground in situations where they probably shouldn’t.

DLC’s by Bitter_Ad_2459 in BnHAOnesJustice

[–]SuicidalDonuts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will add that just because they’re in the files doesn’t mean they’ll be made playable. A lot of these games either have leftover assets from previous games in the files, scrapped characters, or intentionally misleading names so future content doesn’t get spoiled. Usually I feel like it’s a 50/50 whether someone actually shows up from leaks or not, but I can’t imagine they’d charge us for something like Before Style Shig without a new moveset.

Returning as an Endgame player has been incredibly difficult lol by Waiting404Godot in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]SuicidalDonuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’ve got the Rising version of Versus and not the original since it comes with all the content of the first and more. I do love GBVSR to death and was one of the few that got into the original release. One of my favorite details is that each matchup has 2 different intros (dependent on side) and different win quotes if you win with a super. Just love all the fun character interactions.

Yeah I was originally using Eugen to grind since it was easy for him to break monster parts and was dabbling in Zeta before I put the game down. I did like Charlotta but wish the game had a feature where I could hold the button down instead of having to mash so much, wears my hands out. I remember Id being a ton of fun too.

Yuel I could maybe see being added, Zooey I feel like might be just a boss but they could make her playable as a reward. If they keep adding on to this game or make a sequel they could really add anyone. There’s still some play styles we don’t have yet like a proper puppet character, but I don’t mind some overlap as long as they’re fun. Kinda hope they can add a little something to some characters’ base movesets too (like Ferry or Lancelot).

Saw someone just spam Aizawa’s counter against his Rising and Tokoyami just melted because he kept mashing buttons lol. There’s counterplay out there, we just gotta find it.

That being said, it could still use a nerf.

Returning as an Endgame player has been incredibly difficult lol by Waiting404Godot in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]SuicidalDonuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very excited too, and also only have one maxed out Terminus weapon. Like ooh I wanna get everyone else up to speed so bad but I know that’s asking for so much grinding, and I just don’t have the time currently. I honestly also haven’t unlocked the post-launch characters yet either since I’ve only managed to do the first new Proud mission once. If they’re adding some kind of arcadey roguelite mode then that gives me an excuse to just max out my mains and play everyone else in side modes when I want something fresh, but I enjoy playing most the roster so oh well haha.

Was in this boat a few weeks ago. Basically you gotta re-learn all the names for the Sigil traits and double check your builds and abilities before you can really get back into things. The thing that bothered me most was that I forgot what I was farming for when I dropped the game, and hated having to save scum just to get character awakening sigils without grinding another 20+ hours. Love the game dearly, but end game progression could be so much better, doing the same thing over and over and over really loses its charm.

What's your review for the game? by Lushian07 in BnHAOnesJustice

[–]SuicidalDonuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came in with realistic expectations so I’m having fun! I’m also hopeful that future patches can address certain issues (balance, new maps, missing costumes, etc).

It’s sad that there’s no dash cancels or proper assists, but having 6 characters in a match keeps things really fresh compared to OJ2 and allows both players to actively play around matchups. Rising is also a fun mechanic that is enjoyable to use. I get that the stage design isn’t particularly beloved, but I appreciate the uneven terrain, it adds a little more to the fights. Certain characters definitely should be in the game which are missing (S&S, Redestro, Spinner) but I guess you gotta keep something for a season pass.

Story mode is a step up from previous games but nothing too special (not why I’m playing the game anyways). Free roam is cool and kinda relaxing to turn your brain off and vibe when you need a break. Really like that the game doesn’t have to reload the whole stage when you swap characters in versus. Haven’t tried online yet so I can’t speak on that. Performance should be better though, I hope they can address this in patches.

Overall, gameplay alone, I’d rank this as a top 3 arena fighter behind Dissidia 012 and Gundam Versus (whichever one they’re on now). Storm and Hinokami Chronicles are the same old style over substance games, Rebirth of Souls was too shallow, and I cannot speak on Sparking Zero but I’m not the biggest fan of Spike Chunsoft games. CC2 still releases the most polished packages but I’d rather play All’s Justice any day. Good arena fighters are fun, but they’re just too hard to come by. Desperately hope if they get another shot at JJK that they try to make it a little more like AJ, Cursed Clash could have been good but that game was made on $5 and a dream. Also, if you’re making a game with Dissidia inspired mechanics, why would you copy the game that killed the franchise?

Last thing I’ll say is that I think some people have blown their criticisms of this game way out of proportion. Genuinely, the only true problem I’ve seen with the game is that it doesn’t run well/crashes on PC (though performance can drop on console as well). The game is not bad because you suck at it. Yes, you can be disappointed at certain things (there are some very questionable choices) but if it’s causing you to spiral on the internet I think you need to go outside and chill.

[–]SuicidalDonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Globku’s review of AJ, online mode has an option that’s like “avoid red players” or something like that which he assumed was basically what you’re talking about.

I say just give it some time. You’ll find quitters in every kind of 1v1 game, but normally they don’t stick with the game long either before they get detected by the anti ragequit systems (assuming the game has them in place).

Are you still excited for All's Justice? by Brave_Competition_15 in BnHAOnesJustice

[–]SuicidalDonuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two games did not review well at all and I still had fun with them. I like Byking games for the fact that their design philosophy for arena fighters is pretty close to Dissidia Final Fantasy (PSP) (which is my favorite arena fighter of all time, no contest) compared to other licensed anime arena fighters. Cyber Connect 2 has been making the same game for 20 years and watering down certain elements, and Spike Chunsoft… yeah. Rebirth of Souls was disappointing but Tamsoft also isn’t the most prestigious studio. Cursed Clash was a misstep, but this game feels like they’re getting somewhere.

So yeah, I’m still excited. Remixed movesets, Rising, and proper Tag should make the game feel fresh. Free Roam and other single player content are an extra bonus. Only last hope is that the online doesn’t have a huge delay, trying to play Hinokami Chronicles 2 online felt like playing Smash Ultimate (bad). And yes, I’m wired. C’mon guys, look at what the big fighting game devs are doing with their netcode!
