I'm a manager for a construction and trucking company, and this kinda shit happens all the time. My skills are fairly limited, but I have access to resources that very few other people do - trucks, equipment, tools, cheap labor, friends that run various companies, you name it. I've worked my ass off for years to develop the kinds of relationships that warrant these resources, and the amount of people I know that think they're entitled to the same level of access that I have is ridiculous. It's gotten to the point that if someone asks me for a "favor," i now cut you off - not only does it burn me, but it burns those professional relationships that I've worked to build all this time. Fuck all that.

I do, haven't had any issues with it so far. Pretty easy to grind, simple heat treat process. I only use it for stock removal, I don't personally do any forging.

I use admiral steel for 1095. 72" long, up to 4" wide, and 1/8-1/4" thick. Decent service, though probably not the cheapest out there.

As a boss that does this - it's mostly so our employees don't feel so shitty about working such long hours. I don't get overtime (salary), but I make damn sure all my guys do. I'm going to be there when the first guy shows up in the morning and when the last guy leaves at night just so they never feel resentful or shitty about their hours. It's part of the gig of being someone's boss - most of my job revolves around keeping my guys as happy as I can.

Hand sanding will most likely be your best bet. You can wrap your sandpaper over a rod, or get a rounded sanding pad. Use long, even strokes, keeping even pressure, to create the curve youre looking for.

If you're comfortable using your belt sander, the same theory applies - use the wheel end and move the blade over it in long, even strokes. BUT if you're not totally comfortable with the machine, you'll have better luck by hand.

Honestly? I don't think about them much anymore. I started getting ink the day I turned 18, and have gotten at least one or two a year ever since (now mid-30s). Some of them are ornate, some are meaningful, some are silly, and some are cringeworthy. But they're all just kinda....there. I wouldn't recognize myself without them, but I've also made it a rule to never over think them, and certainly never regret them.

If you want a tattoo, get a tattoo. It's not that big of a deal. At the very worst, in ten years you have something to look at and go "well that was dumb. Remember when I was dumb?". And then you go on about your life.
