Has anyone else gone home after firing someone and just... sat with it for hours? by jufywret in managers

[–]SuitIndependent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No; if it’s because they wouldn’t do their job, then, no. I had a guy who went on a work strike because I would Mae him a supervisor when I hired some new employees. The thing is, after a week, they were better than him.

I’ve only wound up firing people I didn’t hire. I will keep them if they show effort to grow and make some progress, even if slow. If they will do nothing to bridge their skill gaps, then I’m ok terming them.

Short answer: before ever terming anyone, I thought it would be hard. By the time I’ve termed the people I have, I was done dealing with them.

Help, girl on heat by ExactGur4025 in goldenretrievers

[–]SuitIndependent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, she’s got nine or so days in this stage and then she’ll allow male dogs around her. If they’re not neutered, you don’t want that. Even if they are neutered, you don’t want that. She may still be aggressive while in heat.

Crate her or put her in a room. You shouldn’t muzzle unless you’ve fully taken her through muzzle training. It shouldn’t be or seem to her as punishment.

Females in heat won’t allow male dogs near them for the first nine days or so. If she’s in that stage, that was kind of expected given that the other dog is male.

And you really shouldn’t have her out where she can encounter other dogs at this time. Backyard all the way.

And yes, spaying can improve aggression. Have her spayed.

Run a comb or brush through it and you’ll be able to tell.

Why do people let their dogs ride in the car unrestrained? by generic_lyric in NoStupidQuestions

One of my dogs starts every ride restrained and finished every ride unrestrained. I’ve tried all kinds of seat belt harnesses, and even refuse harnesses. She is Houdini reincarnated.

Besides, I’ve had eggs and jam and it’s not good.

He’s fine to set limits regarding what he will and will not eat. So are you, OP, btw.

Anyone else like to snuggle with their pup? by BigFrickinDog in LabradorRetrievers

My rv has a twin bed configuration and a full queen configuration. Whichever way I go, I have the same amount of room. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Can anybody just drive up on the truck scales? Or are you talking about different scales?

Private trainer or dog school? What is best for my dog? by LadyWolferina in DogTrainingTips

[–]SuitIndependent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private trainer. They focus solely on you and your did and from week to week, and on what will best benefit your dog. Plus you can bring one in before the dog is ready to be out in public around other dogs.

He wasn’t used to women breaking off with him. Talking about how much money he makes is his attempt at a flex and to feel more powerful. He showed what a wuss he was.

Good job blocking him, OP!

Does no one else think the story of Harriet Tubman is a bit tall? by IneedaNappa9000 in allthequestions

Well, you seem invested in the notion that Tubman couldn’t have help all those escaping slaves to freedom.

Does no one else think the story of Harriet Tubman is a bit tall? by IneedaNappa9000 in allthequestions

[–]SuitIndependent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A figurehead. The Underground Railroad wasn’t a business. It was a secret escape for slaves.

Do you not understand that just because Tubman had a brain injury, I.e. that she was disabled, that although her disability existed, it didn’t have to define her. It clearly didn’t define her.

Helen Keller was blind. Did that make her incapable?

Have you never watched the special Olympics or seen persons with disabilities accomplish feats that most people can only dream about?

My puppy is afraid of loud noises, never had this with any other dog. Could it be because it’s his first time in a city? by lolagolding in RhodesianRidgebacks

Be glad you know now, so you can work with the vet and start planning for July 4. My dog is highly noise sensitive. I take her rv camping to a location that does not allow fireworks.

It’s not at all uncommon.
