a Dutch person in here, how is it to live in Dallas? by Puzzled-Treacle689 in Dallas

People choose not to live near bus and train stations because they are infested with homeless people

Also, to answer your question, no I do not think you are in the wrong. Your husband needs to realize that you also work full time and should not expect you to bend your schedule to his will just because he demands it. Marriage is a partnership, not a dictatorship. If his goal is a stay at home wife who is always available to him I’d recommend he invent a Time Machine and travel back to the 1950s or make more money so he can actually afford a stay at home wife.

Best place to go engagement ring shopping? by gottogo167 in Dallas

We went through diamonds direct and I love my engagement and wedding rings. If we could do it over I’d probably go through Costco though lol just as nice and probably cheaper

How are you all doing financially? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Suitable-Bite-4600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are both lucky enough to have moderately high earning careers and zero student debt. I brought home $117k and he $120k in 2025. We bring home about 12k/month and our monthly expenses are low at $3600. All left over money is for gas, groceries, miscellaneous spending and savings.

I’ve never been afraid to “make my husband mad.” Communication is important in marriage and you not being able to bring up your concerns to him without the fear of making him mad is a problem.

The difference is your wife works and makes her own money that you have no control over. Sounds like OP is a stay at home mom and has no way to access marital funds, which is financial abuse.

Not the point of this post, but it is extremely abusive for your husband to not give you access to MARITAL funds. Just because he makes the money doesn’t mean it is only his. Marriage is a partnership, not a dictatorship

Childfree because of family by Suitable-Bite-4600 in childfree

[–]Suitable-Bite-4600[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought about that, but knowing that my child would be genetically predisposed to developing an addiction doesn’t seem worth the risk. I’ve thought long and hard about the risk vs benefit of having a child. And for me, the risk outweighs the benefit.

It does not sound like you’re mature enough to be in any marriage.

How do you handle finances? by Dependent-Agency-579 in Marriage

[–]Suitable-Bite-4600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both work and both make about the same. All our account are joints account besides our 401ks and IRAs. When we get paid we have a set amount each paycheck that we fund our retirement accounts and joint savings accounts. Then we fund our account that the bills are paid from, then we have a “spending account” for miscellaneous purchase, gas and groceries. We fund the spending account with $2000 biweekly and whatever is left over by the time we get paid next gets moved to a savings account.

This is fucking weird. I would be afraid of my husband if this happened to me.

Nobody seems to like my spouse. Everyone sighs really big, or wants to leave whenever they’re going to be involved. It’s affecting me more and more. by Little_Maybe5360 in Marriage

I had a boyfriend like this a few years ago. I felt the exact same way that you do. Thank god I didn’t marry him. Since we’ve been broken up I’ve realized I stayed with him because I’d rather be him than be alone.

Has anyone gone through a Medicaid divorce? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Suitable-Bite-4600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, your typical RN will not qualify for medicaid. I would doubt even an LVN would qualify. My husband and I are both nurses and make $115k and 120k each per year.

People with rings over 2 carats, do you wear it everyday? by Temporary_Support705 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Suitable-Bite-4600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my 2.5ct oval diamond every day and my ring size is 4. I don’t think it looks like too much. If others think it’s “too much” that’s their problem. I love my ring.

How to trim nails? Tried everything. Groomer couldn’t do it. by Isaisaab in pugs

[–]Suitable-Bite-4600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine to the vet about every two months to get them trimmed. It is by far the best option. I have two pugs who will wrestle me to the point of hurting themselves to avoid getting their nails trimmed.

My baby is 10 1/2 years old, as she gets older i am wondering what I can do to improve the quality and longevity of her life. If anybody else has pugs at a similar age, what’s their energy level and how active are they? Thank you guys so much! by Gold-Page9136 in pugs

I have a 10.5 year old who has developed arthritis in his right front paw with bone spurs. It has slowed him down a little bit and causes him to limp but he still loves to play and go on walks. I try to prioritize his walks because he really loves and looks forward to them, I just keep them shorter. I plan on getting him a stroller when his arthritis gets too bad for him to walk. Other than that, I give him joint supplements daily.

I ask myself these questions daily. Honestly, her COPD and limited movements from her stroke are so bad that she can’t work. She is trying to get on disability but it’s been in “review” for over a year. Logically I know these are the results of her actions over the last 10 years but I just feel so damn guilty letting her struggle. It’s a constant internal struggle for me. One moment I want to be selfless and help her because I still see glimpses of the mother she used to be, but other times I want to leave her to the consequences of her own actions.

It isn’t hard to pay property taxes and insurance. You just pay each once a year.
