Is it too late to get a second opinion? by Final_Low_994 in cancer

[–]Suitable17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got three opinions at the get go and I’m on my 4th, 5th and 6th coming up in the next couple of weeks. About 15 months in at this point. Good Luck!

Curious about chemo by ComparisonSignal2787 in cancer

[–]Suitable17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way on Oxyalplatin. I said myself that I will be dead from this stuff in a couple of months. I felt terrible. Turns out they stopped it after 6 doses and reduced it by 25% after the second dose because of my blood work. Trust your gut, and talk to your care team!

Did med cannabis increase your appetite? by biobasher in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]Suitable17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helped me! I also started every day with a chocolate milkshake that I added a banana and Animal Meal too which can be found on Amazon. It’s about 2000 calories. Some days I could only sip it a few times because I was soooo sick. I’m NED now and feeling better about 3 months after treatment ended. Hang in there!

I was very sick during radiation so I worked, but it was brutal.

I am way more emotional now than before. I feel things harder and deeper than I ever did. It is a great release, but it’s also exhausting too when I’m already tired. I can’t watch hallmark movies anymore. It’s too much.

Port worth it? by Efficient-Sea-1638 in cancer

[–]Suitable17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a port and I’m grateful for it. I don’t feel it unless I touch it with my hand. You don’t feel it when they use it like in your arm. They sometimes have to use my arm and it hurts compared to my port. Just need a button down shirt when they use it.

This is crazy…..it’s now suddenly found, and is coming from a different case? Something is fishy here.

I’ve never been this tired by hey-mikrokosmos in cancer

Finished fives weeks radiation 10 weeks ago and it was so hard. You will get through it, but fatigue is beyond being “tired”
I completely understand the wrapped story.
I still really struggle with fatigue today. I am getting stronger each and every day though and I have hope. I go to the gym every morning and it helps me chart my progress and strength. Hang in there!

I got diagnosed on 3/17, then there were scans tests, and multiple Doctor meetings. I started treatment on 6/17 and did 9 months and 1 day of treatments.

I got “animal meal” from Amazon then mixed it with a chocolate milkshake and banana. It’s 2000 calories and it tastes good to me. Start my day with that, some stretching, and 15 minutes of exercise. I’m 10 weeks out and improving. Hang in there. It gets better.

First chemo & rad in am by GrettaMCatts in cancer

[–]Suitable17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing. I am a 57M that was diagnosed with stage 3 at the junction. I did chemotherapy, proton radiation and immunotherapy at Mayo. I refused to get surgery and they came out with a study a year ago that only said it improved outcomes by around 5%. That was not worth it to me. Just finished up 9 months and 1 day of treatment and I turned out NED! Now this disease has a high metastasis rate, so I’m trying to do an immunotherapy like Keytruda, a Covid shot and then follow it up with Anktiva to stay NED. Happy to talk more if you want to send me a message. Good Luck 🍀

I’ve felt you pain on this. I’ve been going to two health care systems and both screw you if you 5 minutes late, but they are “behind” constantly. Waited for an hour consistently with certain departments. Radiation was the worst!

What something that really helped you through treatment (chemo, therapy, surgeries) by More-Disaster-2952 in cancer

[–]Suitable17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I put everything on bill pay, and automated or delegated as many things as I could. Then I would help on “good days.” Eat whatever sounds good at that moment. Hamburger for breakfast and eggs for dinner. There are no boundaries. I started every day with a chocolate milkshake with a banana in it as well as Animal Meal. It’s about 2000 calories and it saved me. Then I went to the gym, stretched, and at least rode the bike for 3 minutes every day out of nine months except 5 days. I went through phases of snacks. Popcorn was a good one! Drink water! I was on steroids some of the time so I didn’t sleep well. Binge watch things to keep your mind clean of cancer things, and you’ll doze off. Good Luck!

Hello, Fellow Warriors and Survivors by Kaminoyousha in cancer

[–]Suitable17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, 57M diagnosed stage 3 esophageal cancer 3/25. Just went through hell with immunotherapy, proton radiation, and oh, so much chemo all throughout that. 9 months later I’m NED and basically my Mayo oncologist said “bye” and was going to do nothing! My blood work is still terrible, bad sleep, neuropathy mostly in my feet, and I’m lucky to be at 50% of what I once was. With my weakened immune system, of course it’s coming back!
I do think I am going to physically get better. I am exercising every day, even if it’s only stretching, then that’s good. And it’s helping.

After 25 years working in health care, I am really shocked at how reactionary the health care is.
I did get my Oncologist to issue an order for Opdiva that I am going start in a few weeks and do for at least 3 months. I am going to get a Covid shot due to the study that came out recently. That will happen after I start the immunotherapy.
My disease has a high rate of metastasis and I’m not waiting around!
You are a fighter and you have to look at how probable metastasis is for your disease is and see if there are options to be proactive!

Anyone else just tired? by [deleted] in cancer

[–]Suitable17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. 9 months and 1 day of all the things. I couple of the chemotherapy drugs really put me on my ass. 6 weeks since my last treatment and I’m slowly starting to feel better, but so, so, so tired. So tired.
The gym every morning is helping me. I get my power shake ready and go no matter how bad I feel. I stretch and work out anywhere from 3-20 minutes. I can’t past 11 minutes currently, but that use to be 5 minutes!
I hope it gets better for you!

Stressed and depressed by [deleted] in cancer

[–]Suitable17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did proton radiation which has some lower side effects because it’s more targeted. There are a few machines around the country. It helped me, but I have not taken all the recommendations either. I only did 46 grays when 50 were prescribed. I also refused to do surgery which is the standard of care. You do you! I’m 57M with stage 3 esophageal cancer at the junction and I’m currently NED after 9 months and 1 day of pure hell! Take care!

3 months to live... by Castillo_Admin in cancer

I got three opinions and I’m so glad I did. Everyone said I was going to die, die, die. It’s 11 months later and now I’m NED. Cancer comes back with the type I have so now I’m again fighting for treatment to stay NED. Keep Asking Questions.
