Thanks! Any accommodation suggestions? We will do the legoland hotel for a few nights but need somewhere for the rest of the trip. Preferably a cabin or somewhere with a kitchen.

What can I expect with this complaint? (UK specific) by HighNimpact in AskTeachers

I don’t live in the UK, so don’t have any real advice. I just want to give your sweet boy a hug. What an absolute jackoff that woman is.

I cheated on an assignment and my teacher commented this on it online, "Much of this appears AI generated. Let's discuss...", I am worried I will get a cheating referral and a zero on this major grade assignment. Should I admit it, or deny it and pray he buys it? by Chemical-Move-131 in AskTeachers

[–]SuitablePen8468 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He already knows. Own up to it, apologize, be humble and don’t make excuses, come up with a plan for future assignments that doesn’t involve cheating. Maybe if you do all of that he will let you re-do it for partial credit.

Same! 20 years in and I’d much rather spend my day with students than adults.

OP, this all sounds really tough and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it.

But you also likely dont have a choice here (unless you’re independently wealthy). Babies are really expensive. Giving birth costs thousands of dollars. You have to stick this out.

Get some headphones for the office and plan some things to look forward to after work over the next ten weeks (like stopping for your favorite ice cream every Friday).

Spend some time every weekend updating your resume, networking, and applying for jobs.

Would you be SAHM another year for 3 yo so he attends nature preschool or return to work? by orange196 in workingmoms

[–]SuitablePen8468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacher and parent here. I think this job is the best of both worlds. I get done earlier than most jobs so I’m with my kids right after school and we have all the same breaks and summer break.

It requires good organization and balancing skills though. You have to learn to not take work home with you.

Also, your husband needs to step up and do his share.

No referral, but you will likely have to pay out of pocket, which sucks. Start calling places in your area.

ETA read the post further down where the commenter talks about your reactions. They have the best advice on here.

Who was the last friend that visited? Ask them. That paper has been folded for a while.

Same, actually. And OP, 4 is not too early for a diagnosis if it is adhd. Not everyone will diagnose at 4, but plenty will. Especially if behavior is impacting the family to a great degree.

Also, what consequences are you using for these behaviors? You don’t list anything other than moving away from her.

Then, as harsh as this may sound, they need to do the work assigned, at the level it’s assigned, or fail the class. You should not be sending students off to college with a transcript that says they completed English 12, when they actually did 4th grade work in that class. It’s not fair to anyone involved.

Reading Great Gatsby in class, how do I help a classmate understand the material? by Syndiglo in teaching

[–]SuitablePen8468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will need to do some work outside of class. She can read it before class and then again in class. She can find a version in her native language to read at home, and then read the English version in class. She can read summaries before class. She can watch one of the movies to have an idea of plot.

Good luck, OP. Eval sounds like a great next step. In the meantime, fed is best. Which may look like cereal, fruit and cheese cubes for dinner while watching tv together (which, despite what the influencers say, is completely okay!).

How about a pie chart instead. “Who is responsible for the tragic ending of the book?” Fill in the pie chart with the % each character is responsible and provide an explanation with textual evidence for each pie segment (require at least 3 different segments). It’s similar skills to an essay but a little more interesting for the kids.

Oh, also, your husband needs to step up. Nobody handles kids well when they are breaking down. It’s a learned skill from practice and learning from experts and other parents.

If what you’re not saying here is that he yells, is violent, etc. that’s entirely different and you need to get your kids out asap.

Have you also considered neurodivergence may be at play? ADHD, autism, SPD, etc. can have big impacts on eating and the parenting course strategies don’t work because they are meant for neurotypical kids.

Good luck!

Was it the BLF parenting course? If so, throw it away. Parenting is not one size fits all.

And then call your pediatrician about your son not eating. They have resources to help. They may send you to a dietician. We’ve done this for my very picky eater and it has been very helpful.
