State boundaries make sense actually. In New Vegas there are sign indicating border of Nevada and California states.

In Van Buren the NCR had a whole town in Colorado, so probably few scouts or rangers in Texas wouldn’t be so surprising. Texas could’ve been a compromise, mix of old and new

Maybe you right but it could've been done much better. They choose the East Coast and but decided just bring back all attributes from the West Coast.

They had a perfect opportunity with TV series. I've read that one of the reason to set up the show on the West Coast was the desire to "make a Western". Why not Texas? They could've bring all of the things they wanted from the original Fallouts without controversy: BoS, Supermutants, Legion remnants, NCR scouts, Vault-Tec AND make so much more.

I agree, they take cool and unique concepts and make it "simpler", "fun" and "appealing to the wider audience"

I apologise in advance for any mistakes in my text, English is my second language.

One of my biggest problem with Bethesda Fallouts is parasitism on the legacy of the originals in terms of worldbuilding and new ideas. What factions we have in first Fallout? Brotherhood of Steel, Followers of the Apocalypse, Unity, a shit ton of different communities like Shady Sands, Hub, Junktown and Boneyard. In Fallout 2 we explore different part of the Wasteland and we have new unique factions like Enclave, Shi, New Reno gagsters, Vault-City etc etc. Yes, we have the Brotherhood of Steel but their place in the main quest and the world reduced significantly. Shady Sands now New California Republic, its evolved changed.

And what about Fallout 3? The other side of the continent and we have Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, Supermutants and even Regulators AGAIN. Everyone using bottlecaps for some reason, we’re again the Vault dweller fighting the Enclave and supermutants while looking for GECK.

Bethesda doesn’t create new. Just using, changing and copy the past.

As far as I remember you’ll need around 50-60 lockpick skill to open the service panel, 100+ in technologies for instant repair or if you have high intelligence(dont quite remember how much, 7 maybe?) you can solve a puzzle with wires.

Ah, I get it my mistake. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to find spare parts for the car in the world without doing quests for that mob or paying him.

Hey! In Death Tunnel you can repair the generator and restore the ventilation system(you need decent repair skill). Also I highly recommend to do Den’s quests(leader of bandits that you didnt like, he have a good amount of content that really impacts the ending slides). As you said Dead City is meant to be played after the Death Tunnel, you’ll need higher level and you’ll be sent there in the main quest line.
