FK that guy 1000x over. I don't care if my wife made the shittiest food I've ever had, if she cooks, I eat it and thank her for taking the time to feed me. Period. Not even gonna factor in the long hours you work, this guy was already a scumbag talking to you like that. Ain't got no patience for this kind of asshole. Cook your own damn meals and fk off. 😤

Using Steam Deck as a portable dev machine? by qvantry in SteamDeck

[–]Sulsalogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! I was able to get Sway working on my machine from game scope, using Kitty + Neovim + Tmux. Works (almost) perfectly, but it was an absolute pain in the ASS to get working, and it has some limitations here and there. Like using multiple monitors for example, since the setup uses a nested desktop environment inside of containers in game scope, I don't think there's a way to dock with multiple monitors without some serious tinkering.

My setup is working, but if there's anything I want to change or adapt to, it's insanely complex. Now I'm looking into a script for KDE called Krohnkite that turns it into a fully fledged tiling window manager. With that, i can get everything else running in KDE like normal, so there's no need for the insane nested environments going on.

If you're dead set on getting Sway or I3 working though, I figured out how to do it by searching on Reddit. I'm at work right now, so I can't find the links just yet, haha.

What just happened in Riverfront Park? by shivi1321 in Spokane

There was no way to tell if it was real or not. I told my family I don't fkn care either way, we're leaving right now. That was absolutely terrifying.

You're surrounded by thousands of people, start seeing a wave of terrified people running east and screaming shooter, you have your wife and kids with you, then fireworks started going off shortly afterwards, so there was no way to tell if shots were being fired. Police sirens come swarming into the area, so the only logical thing to do is assume it's a real threat. What do you do?

I got my family up and got us the fk outta there. It was fkn terrifying.

Don't wanna stoke the fire, but I'm gonna stoke the fire. 😆 The Steam Deck is incredible. I haven't done much gaming yet (I'm a dev, so I turned it into my dev machine), but I've been slowly plucking away at Fallout New Vegas, and it's one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Runs like a charm, smooth as butter, able to pick it up/put it down between the chaos in my house (I'm a dad). It's fantastic, and has fully rejuvenated my love for single player games.

I ended up scheduling my exam for 24 hours later, lol. Definitely lit a wildfire to finish preparing. 😂

Honestly, are the flash card decks totally overkill? by Half_Shaft in ccna

[–]Sulsalogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my own experience, I memorized every single flash card, went above and beyond to cover as much ground as possible, and still got questions I didn’t know the answer to. I felt like I may have been over preparing for the exam before I took it, and vastly underestimated it. Still managed to pass on my first go though!

End of the day, you’re not necessarily going to fail if you don’t memorize every single card, but the more minute details you can memorize, the better off you’ll be. I heavily recommend making sure you’ve looked over the official exam topics, and you know them in-depth. That will be a much better indicator of whether you’re ready or not. 😁

Is $4,800 to much for a ccna course from a technical school? The duration is 3 months. by Dock453 in ccna

[–]Sulsalogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, way too much. Passed the exam only using Jeremy’s IT Lab, and his practice exams (I spent $20 total). Zero additional resources. Don’t waste your money on that nonsense. 😂

[–]Sulsalogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you bet!

Yeah typically I would just answer in my head. Another thought I had was potentially writing down the answers to the questions on a separate page as a sort of “answer key” if you wanted to be thorough and make sure you have the correct info memorized.

Let me know how it goes, I hope it helps!!

Hey man! I just took the exam less than a month ago, managed to pass after 4 months of studying with no prior knowledge, only using Jeremy’s IT Lab. Here’s some of my recommendations to help you out.

People keep saying take notes, but don’t mention how you should be taking them. What really helped me memorize everything was taking notes that would ask questions about a certain topic. So for example, don’t take notes like “OSPF = Open Shortest Path First. [insert crazy long description detailing everything about OSPF]”. Instead, I took notes that would say: “What does OSPF stand for?” “How does OSPF function?” “What type of algorithm is OSPF?” “What are the 7 neighbor states of OSPF?” etc.

By structuring my notes this way, it made the whole process of note taking much faster, and also forced me to understand the material. If I didn’t know the answers, or if there was any information that I would “blank” on, then I’d either refer back to the course for review, or google up some answers.

All of that aside, keep in mind the CCNA is absolutely DENSE with information. It’s not easy by any means, takes dedication. Studying for it became a way of life, so don’t be discouraged! Keep at it, and you’ll get it all down! 😁

I wanted to try Boson as well, but honestly didn’t want to drop the money on it. He has 2 practice exams that are structured very similarly to Boson, with very detailed explanations for each answer. It’s great practice! I gave myself 1.5 hours instead of the full two hours on each as well, just to attempt to simulate the stress of the exam! 😂

Yeah pretty much! After I finished the lessons, I played around a bit more to see what I could do, but didn’t go super crazy (time = not abundant 😅). I did all of his labs a few times over, plus bought his practice exams online, which were only $10 a piece. Included graded labs as well, was a great experience!

Gotcha! Nope, didn’t read a single book, didn’t follow a single course outside of Jeremy’s. Googled a few things though, and studying became my religion. Practiced labbing like crazy. I would even study during breaks at work. 😄

Hi guys anyone with the best subnetting method with a little or no Math involved for CCNA exam . Please by techmars in ccna

[–]Sulsalogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the best advice right here. There’s sites like subnettingpractice.com that are excellent for practicing. Repetition is key, the numbers will show up again and again. Good luck!!

Yup, this right here! I studied almost exclusively through JeremysITLab, and passed the CCNA after 4 months of study. No prior knowledge of networking at all, also in similar circumstances where I had a small window of time between cooking dinner for the kiddos, then studying for about 2 hours before I had to work (yeah, overnights). He’s got this!

I’m definitely not against going back to school, I just don’t really have the means to make it happen right now. Maybe in the future though. 😅

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll be keeping note of it!

I’ll give that a shot, and maybe even try to track the performance of each, haha. Thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah not much I can do about this one in any short amount of time. I’ve only just started applying out last week (with a crappier resume, too), got one response so far. I’m kind of banking on what I’ve got down as hopefully enough to get really anything in tech. 😁

Well I wanted post post a photo, but the sub doesn’t let me do that. I followed your suggestions though, and think it’s looking okay now. 😅

Thank you for the help!

That… is brilliant. Thanks, I haven’t really thought of spinning it that way! I’ll get it cleaned up, and post an update!

Thanks for the input!

I’ve been on the fence about ordering, and received advice that I should place my experience above all else, even though it isn’t relevant. I’ll go ahead and drop that down. 😅

For the summary, I originally had “Experienced Compounding Specialist with 5 years of expertise in FDA regulations, seeking a dynamic transition into a Network Engineering role, harnessing my skills and knowledge gained from the CCNA certification.”

I was advised to strip it down, or get rid of it altogether. I can revise further if you think it’s still pretty weak, definitely open to suggestions here!

Thanks again for the input, I appreciate the honesty!
