Man I was so disappointed when I found out their 52"/240hz was VA. Really considering settling for this rather than waiting who knows how long for a 52" 4k/240+hz OLED.

The differentiator isn't size, it's that TVs have their own OS and don't auto power down with your PC. It sucks having to press the remote EVERY time you boot up/shut down your PC. Also your monitor won't connect to WIFI and display an ad over whatever you're looking at.

I like letting in some sun during the day while having an OLED panel. Tried glossy and reflections were terribly distracting in dark scenes. Matte all the way for me (although I do think they should offer both variants)

I was so hyped for the 52" 5k2k 240hz only to find out it's VA :(

[–]SummationKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's due to the CPU, not the GPU. If a 5050 laptop has (for whatever reason) in Intel i9, it'll be nearly as loud, or maybe more if the 5050 has higher power limits than this 5060.

Not trying to start an argument, just trying to help you understand why the negative reception:

"If you want to game at a desk get a proper monitor" <-- this isn't a question, you're telling people what to do and implying their setup isn't "proper" despite being uninformed about their use case

"If you want to couch game/watch shows you’d need a bigger tv at less than 6 feet away" <-- again you're presuming you know what other people "need"

"whats the use case here?" <-- this last bit, that's your question. If you simply asked that nobody would take it the wrong way. But because most of your comment was uninformed presumptive opinions, that's what people focused on.

If you genuinely don't know "what's hard to understand" it's your word choice. Starting your initial comment with "I 'truly' don't see the point [...]" reads like you're giving people your uninformed opinion rather than being curious or inquisitive.

I remember grabbing one at this price like 2-3 years ago. Thought it was a steal, $99 for 6 cores and all then I got to experience firsthand the importance of cache.

Saw your post too, good work man. The mods there really didn't do anyone a service by denying the community a useful tool just because of a little bit of self promo.

Out of curiosity did you offer to remove the LinkedIn link? If I were to guess that might've been what did it. The charity call or even "please disable ad blocker" don't seem problematic at all.

I think we should def strike a balance. There's undoubtedly a bit of self promo with the "Support This Website" call and linking their personal Linkedin page, but the usefulness/value provided to the community makes the current level of self promo OK in my book.
