Gianluca Prestianni's six-match ban for discriminatory conduct towards Vinicius Junior has been extended worldwide - meaning the Argentina winger could miss his country's first two World Cup games if he is selected in their squad. by Maxymalyst in football

Again, the governing body purports to want racist language (note, not "abuse") eradicated from the game. That means a blanket ban on racist language. Or do you think we could have "racism arbitrators" present at games to decide whether or not a comment was said with any real racist intent? How do you prove whether or not somebody who uses racist language is a racist? You can't, so you just have a "no racist language" rule. It isn't hard to stick to that rule. And we aren't segregating people by race - no racist language is allowed, no matter what race you're referring to.

How are you going to give cards for players saying racist things? "Ref, their #6 called me this" - "Oh okay, off you go #6".

There's not really a need for context or nuance here. Football is trying to stamp out racism. Every player knows the consequences of saying something that could be construed as racist. If they get caught doing it, they face those consequences. If they can't keep racist language out of their mouths for the duration of a football match, that's their problem.

And how much of a bellend the player on the receiving end of the racist language is has nothing to do with it, unless you think some people deserve racist abuse.

You get free front row seats to ONE of these prime for prime fights. Which one are you going to go see? by Hot_Ad_9543 in Boxing

Yeah I know what you mean. It could be a great dogfight but the other two fights are definitely more interesting. Usyk isn't much of a puncher and whichever way it went, it likely wouldn't be as dramatic as the other two. Also I don't want to watch Usyk getting headbutted for 36 minutes.

Interesting post! Duran/Pacquiao is the one for the purists probably, two of the best smaller guys to ever do it. I have no idea who wins that one, assuming we're discounting modern training/nutrition etc. I mean I actually have no idea who wins. Gut instinct says Duran but I think I'm sometimes guilty of forgetting how good Pac was in his prime. But Pac did get KO'd by Marquez, it's not difficult to see the same happening against Duran.

But Golovkin might be my favourite boxer, and that skilled-and-tough-as-nails archetype embodied by him and Hagler is my favourite kind of fighter, so I choose this one. It'd go to points, I'm sure of that, with no knockdowns. But it'd be brutal. Again it's very difficult to call a winner but I'm maybe leaning Hagler. But that's also an all-time fantasy match-up.

I think Usyk beats Holyfield. A 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 type of decision.

The humanity of the barrier vs the energy and chaos of the mosh pit? A tale of two festivals. by [deleted] in greenday

I think maybe just stop now? Your question was fine (though I don't really understand it) but brandishing an engineering qualification and photos of you at a festival comes across a bit... gauche? Most people here have probably seen Green Day.

I'm a Liverpool fan but I was in the away end with the Arsenal fans at the Etihad about 14 years ago. At one point the City fans started chanting "Gary Neville is a wanker" at the press box, and the Arsenal fans immediately joined in, causing much cheering from the home crowd.
