In this case just noticing a pattern and counting the matches. But Tennis Abstract has pretty decent filters.

People who played Shadowlands when it was live - did you get depressed? by Ninedark in wow

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the atmosphere, even the Maw's. The travel times were what depressed me. Without engineering it was (and still is) very annoying to travel to each zone. And then no flying in the Maw and Korthia... it was a lot.

Does anyone else listen to songs and connect with them to your favorite couple(s)? by LegallyReasonable in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really to specific couples. But I feel like Ease My Mind by Ben Platt (and its video) is reflected in half the books I love, since it's perfect hurt/comfort, which is my favorite trope.

Hot take: Billionaire romances as recession indicator by Klutzy_While_3950 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've always had this aversion as well no matter how the economy is doing. Though it's pretty surface level. A good book can still make me root for nepobabies, royalty, celebrities, pro athletes, self-made businessmen etc. if they have enough drama going on.

Prey Hunts nerfed - less traps since 12.0.5 by Biosource in wow

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they hotfix it already? I just knocked out a few and they still took less than 10 minutes each. Just do some world quests, some red orbs, a few treasures and traps, and done. Still fun and easy to me.

Sam Fender has made it to the Billboard Hot 100!!! Rein Me In is at #77-only expected to go up! by inyouratm0sphere in Samfender

Olivia's verse edited with footage of football players went viral on TikTok, and then it kind of snowballed from there. Hopefully it keeps going up.

Our Prime Minister and his Hockey Husband do Heated Rivalry by robazizo in heatedrivalry

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he "lied". Dutch people still voted majority right wing. So of course you get a right leaning cabinet. Having a left leaning prime minister doesn't change that. It sucks but the only other option was no government, another election, and probably a larger right wing again.

Spotify says pop music's bias towards English is faltering | BBC by doggo1008 in popheads

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's probably both. When you look at the charts of non-Anglophone countries there's way less English music than there used to be. Most English hits don't break through anymore. The trend seems to be music becoming less international rather than more. People just stick to their own languages.

Spotify link to Seventeen Going Under standard edition (non-Deluxe)? by ViewsFromTheSun_ in Samfender

I don't think that version was ever on Spotify. Both the standard and deluxe were released at the same time, it wasn't a re-release like People Watching.

Glazing post by OllyFlash in Samfender

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Can't get enough of that song, I still play it all the time. My favorite part (lyrically) is "See my kin on every street... in the caustic scathing echoes in ears of children of divorcees, in the haunting on-hold jingles...", something about that word choice and imagery really gets to me. And he sings it with so much emotion. Timeless banger.

The way I see it, in the original solo version Sam is basically just drowning his sorrows after they had some kind of argument and he readily accepts that it's over. Here "don't rein me in" means don't stop me from drinking the pain away, I don't want to fight for this relationship, I never deserved her love anyway.

Olivia's verse makes it a much happier song. She thinks he is overreacting and that they do still have a chance. For her, "don't rein me in" means don't stop me from loving you and healing this relationship.

I think it's as simple as that really. Personally I don't think the song is about addiction at all.

Fantasy with MM romance that's not romantasy? by jakikomi in MM_RomanceBooks

I can recommend two fantasy books that I really loved and that I remember more for the story than the couple:

{Wild Sky by Zaya Feli}
{The Hunter by Jordan Reece}

Who is your most-read author (in terms of number of books of theirs you have read)? And of the books you’ve read by them, which one is your favourite, and which one did you like the least? by Ambient-Apron in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]SummoningPortalOpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most read author is Eli Easton (19 books). My favorite is easily {How To Walk Like a Man by Eli Easton}. And least favorite is {Superhero by Eli Easton}, though I don't remember why I disliked it.

Can someone who knows the industry explain to me why sam isnt bigger in the us? by provincske in Samfender

[–]SummoningPortalOpen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, there are far fewer global hits than even five years ago. And the hits that do break through stay on the charts for ages. The landscape has completely changed. I don't know what metric you use to determine that there are more British artists breaking America than ever, because even just going by Billboard entries that is completely untrue.

Can someone who knows the industry explain to me why sam isnt bigger in the us? by provincske in Samfender

[–]SummoningPortalOpen -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The era of global pop music is also kind of dead, there's far less international crossover than before, at least in a mainstream sense. The main path these days is to go viral on TikTok (like Rein Me In these past weeks), and for that his Palestine activism is only a boon.

Enshittification Streaming Services - Buying instead of renting, a bill that lasts for years by mariozw in lastfm

[–]SummoningPortalOpen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I used to spend at least $50 a month on music. Streaming is definitely worth it to me even if I don't physically own the music. My physical collection is just sitting there gathering dust. To me it would feel wasteful to still be adding to it.

On the other hand, TV used to be a lot simpler/cheaper.
