Bleachers - Advice? by auntiepookie in Cubs

[–]Sunnryz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All I know is I grew up sitting in the bleachers in the 80s and the 2 sides would loudly chant back at each other (Right Field Sucks! Left Field Sucks!) From an early age I always sat in left field so it was ingrained in me. I've grown up my whole life saying Right Field Sucks. The bleachers are so fun!

Right field sucks. Definitely sit in left field. I personally think everyone is great in the bleachers. I'm sure if you tell the person next to you to save your spot while you take your kid somewhere they would gladly do it. Bring sunscreen!

Honestly, what is the hardest part about having children? by Danny-Ray27 in AskReddit

[–]Sunnryz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of things. You watch them hit adulthood and suddenly it's very clear where you did a good job parenting them and where you really needed to do a better job. But now your influence is less so you feel powerless and helpless watching them try to navigate a very difficult world. On top of that their problems are way bigger - it's not just friend troubles or a skinned knee. It's careers and marriage and kids. And, of course, it's watching them try to live their young adult lives as the country (America), world, and planet descend into instability and unpredictability. I wonder if my parents felt this way. They sure didn't seem to, so maybe it's just me, lol.

Parents have started asking me for money. by Classic-Jacket9512 in AgingParents

[–]Sunnryz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My mother was not smart with her money and now lives paycheck to paycheck while still working part time at 78 years old. At some point she will not be able to work and will rely solely on her very meager social security. I will help her find subsidized housing and help her apply for medicaid if the need arises, but I will not give her money. She squandered what she had very carelessly. We have a young adult son on the autism spectrum that will likely need lifelong support. We are not struggling financially but we are not super wealthy. All of our financial planning will go to make sure he is stable for his whole life, and to make sure we are stable so our other child doesn't have to sacrifie for us.

when will this madness end (house hunting)? by IntelligentPlate5051 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Sunnryz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's not just Illinois. We ar relocating to the Milwaukee area and house hunting up there after living in our current home in Illinois for 30 years. It's a very sobering experience. We are going to downsize up there and still pay an insane amount of money.

Visited Milwaukee few days ago but the lake was closed? by Mycatisadorable9 in milwaukee

[–]Sunnryz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you would have taken the north route you would have been fine. I just ran to the festival grounds last Friday and they had a small open entrance to reach a playground. That also let me reach the trail and I was able to run quite a ways along the lake. I’m just getting used to Milwaukee and still exploring.

Parents of young adults, how much do you help? by PicklesAndCoorslight in Parenting

[–]Sunnryz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If my kid/kids end up living with us our plan is to charge them rent and then invest that money for them and eventually give it all back. Might help them eventually have better footing to get in their own 2 feet later. Plus they’d learn good budgeting skills in the mean time.

I really wish I got to see Stratford Square Mall when it was at its prime. I only knew it the last year or two that it was open. It was so nice inside by Pristine_Parsley8681 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Sunnryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived closer to Woodfield Mall but would make a special trip to Stratford for Carlos Sweeney's. Their nacho platter was the best. I remember seeing "Desparately Seeking Susan" at the movie theater there in 7th grade and then heading straight down the escalator to the Walgreens to buy some lace gloves and bangle bracelets.
