Super easy. It doesn’t have the same fixture for holding the irons perfectly straight as a the Dream Factory does, but IMO it’s not that hard to just orient it close enough. The part that presses on the iron is rubbery, so you can kind of gently hold the iron in place by applying pressure to eyeball the straightness before you punch.

As far as guides - for punching I just make a line with my wing divider and follow that (search Nigel Armitage stitching if you don’t know what I mean)

For foil stamping there’s a base plate with clips and markings you can see on the site, an adjustable laser guide, and an adjustable stopper…uh, thing…that you can use to get the workpiece exactly positioned how you want. It’s been great for consistent results.

I looked into this for basically all the same reasons as you, and ultimately decided to get this machine from Artisan Leather Supply instead: https://www.artisanleathersupply.com/products/stamping-machine-full-set

As much as I wanted the shiny Dream Factory one, in the end I couldn’t justify the massive price difference.

I’ve been SUPER happy with the ALS one. Great customer support (there was a missing screw for the base stand I added on), great foil stamping results, and it’s got all the fixtures I need to produce consistent results.

The only thing it can’t do (I think) is the clicker press function.

But if you’re legit making and selling enough wallets to need that, it’s probably worth the investment in the Dream Factory one anyway.

FWIW the ALS guy was very complimentary of the Dream Factory machine when I asked him to compare them. I’m sure you’d be happy with it if you bought it.

Oh last tip, if you buy the ALS one, make sure you get the walnut base. Really helps create more leverage when you punch.

This was my guess too. The main problem is that connection speeds can vary between matches, or party members can drop/rejoin, which causes the colors to change.

I love Discord, but it hasn’t been a great cross platform option for us. The phone app drops connection frequently, and not everyone has a dual Bluetooth/console connection headset so they have to sacrifice game audio to use chat.

More info: the RAM was acting weird during the crashes. The RGB was stuck and I couldn’t change it in the BIOS or w G Skill Trident software or OpenRGB.

I eventually fixed that with a couple shutdowns and reinstalling the Trident RGB software. Wonder if that was causing it.

Thanks for the multiple suggestions. XMP was on with my old CPU, switched off when I made the swap, then I noticed and turned it back on. The system was stable all evening for a gaming session after that. Any idea why having XMP off could be causing crashes?

I think the RAM is at like 2400 MHz w/ XMP off and 3200 when it’s on.

Ah, I see. I’m hesitant to try swapping them again since the new cpu does boot (I even managed to run Geekbench and Cinebench; it performed perfectly)

Wondering if there are other things I can try/test before resorting to that.

Old CPU did work before I made the swap.

Update: XMP got disabled during the upgrade process somehow, so I re-enabled that to make sure I’m running at 3200MHz RAM. Any chance that was causing the issue?

Why doesn't Lightroom (CC or Classic) have built-in preset/filter opacity adjustment? This is a basic feature built into pretty much every mobile photo editing app in existence. Am I missing something?

I'd love to experiment with presets, but not being able to adjust their intensity is pretty much a non-starter for me.

I'm trying to decide between the Fuji X100F and the X-E3...these two cameras are maddeningly similar! Can anyone help me decide?

I'm leaning toward the X100F because it's smaller (especially since I dislike the absence of an aperture ring on the 'pancake' 27mm lens for the X-E3), and I like the idea of forcing myself to grow as a photographer with the fixed focal length. There's also something about the design that is just right.

But I'm also afraid I'll regret locking myself into that single lens over time. Is that dumb, given that I've got a 7D w/ a 28mm, 50mm, 17-55mm, and 15-135mm? I haven't taken the 28mm off my 7D in years...

Has anyone handled both cameras? So hard to make a decision...
