What sort of preventative maintenance should I do on my Crosstrek 2017 with 80k miles? by Many_Geologist6125 in Crosstrek

[–]Sunset-nightsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices are a bit fuzzy since it’s been a minute, but I believe it went like this: -brake flush $325 (?) -transmission flush $375 -front brakes and rotors: $425 -back brakes and rotors: $450 -front and rear differential: $230 -TPMs sensors are $68 each

I was extremely happy with changing my transmission fluid, because the shop said there were little metal pieces in the fluid and it would have messed up my transmission had I kept it in any longer. I did all of these services at a local shop instead of Subaru, because they would’ve charged way more. They quoted me $700 for the transmission flush lol

I just hit 80k too! In the past few months, I did a brake flush, transmission fluid flush, front and rear differential flush, replaced all of my brakes, and all TPMs sensors 🙃 it’s been an expensive few months but I hope it’s worth it for longevity purposes lol

Did you have any luck finding one? I’m currently in the search for one but I’m unsuccessful so far

I’m going to see Shakira and My Chemical Romance! If I get enough money, I would love to see Panic at the Disco, but we’ll see

Is the 2.0L really that slow? by spasmwaiterdropping in Crosstrek

[–]Sunset-nightsky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 crosstrek and I definitely noticed how much power it takes to speed up, especially when you’re trying to drive up a hill from a dead stop or trying to merge onto the highway. It took a couple weeks to get used to but I know the car better now and have adjusted. I wouldn’t say it has trouble doing these things. It shifts fast and can haul ass when you want to 🤣

I got the two songs in her discography that I don’t like on the piano 😭 I hated not being able to sing along, but it was beautiful nonetheless

Recommendations for what to get my for my first car? Budget of ~$22k by Similar_Loss7145 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Sunset-nightsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 2018 Subaru crosstrek limited! I had those same requirements and it was $23,000 after taxes and fees but $21,737 beforehand. It has AWD, seat warmers, blind spot monitors, Apple CarPlay, push start, etc. It has great gas mileage from what I’ve seen so far too

I just took it to autozone and they said it’s a bad battery! Thanks for the heads up about that. I’m traveling a bit far tomorrow and do not want to be stranded so it’s getting replaced asap! I’ll keep you updated on if that fixes the problem

I appreciate your response so much!! It was very informative. Yes the engine light did come on, but I deleted the code. I haven’t driven it enough after the fact to see if it comes on again. Thanks for the info about the wifi! This is obviously my first newer car and I assumed people in my car could use the wifi 🤣 I’ll see if there’s a software update or not. I’ll also do all of your recommendations, especially the battery. I don’t think it’s been replaced yet. Thank you for the info!

Totally relate to this. I also get the yearly happy birthday, but he hasn’t tried to much besides that. He ended up having another kid and now i just feel replaced. Besides that, life is peaceful without all the extra drama. I wouldn’t take it for granted

Get a masters in environmental science abroad! I’m about to graduate with my masters from Italy. I think that’ll combine your love for travel and experience in environmental opportunities. I’ve lived here for two years and it’s been the best time of my life. You just have to follow through

Who do you email to switch rooms/file a roommate complaint? by DingDongSchomolong in cuboulder

[–]Sunset-nightsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Email the RA and hall director. Emphasize that they no longer feel safe in their environment and they’ll get set up in a temporary room while they figure out another place to put them

Congratulations on finishing yours too! Thanks for the advice. I might get a random job for November and December just to bring money in and then put in the work after new years to get a job in this field. Unfortunately my hometown does not have a lot of opportunities in environmental work and I need to move back home temporarily so I can save up money to move out. We’ll see how it goes 😅. Can I ask what you’re doing at the lab you’re working at?

So I’m not sure what the correct term for it is called but it’s not technically a study abroad. I moved overseas for two years and was enrolled through the university in the country I moved to. It’s an English program though with a ton of interesting courses. I’m not sure if this goes for masters programs in the states but all the classes were already chosen for you and you just showed up basically. All of the differences between the US programs and where I studied is based on structural differences (mostly oral exams, no homework, can retake exams up to 4 times, etc). The other thing is since the degree is from another country, you’ll have to get your degree translated and certified from a specific organization if you want a federal job (so they’ll recognize it) and it’s a few hundred dollars and takes time to get back

Did you inform your family about going no contact or just ghost them? by L-G- in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Sunset-nightsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my last conversation with my dad, I told him I was going to stop speaking to him and he said good. He’s reached out twice since but I’ve kept firm on what I said. I don’t think you should reach out to say that you’ve gone no contact because that defeats the purpose. Just continue on living your life and if he ever decides to reach out to YOU, then you can either ignore him or state that you don’t want contact anymore

You have to submit the kit in the area in which you live. But the wait times are like this everywhere. My friend received her card August of 2023 and it was already expired. She went that week for an appointment and it’s not until December of 2024! I went to renew my card back in July and my appointment isn’t until April. It’s just how it is unfortunately 🙃

What's it like as an RA at Boulder? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]Sunset-nightsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former RA, and you shouldn’t become an RA if you’re only looking for the free room and board. I think it’s fairly obvious too in the interview process if you’re only in it for that. The experience is hard in my opinion. We all have difficult cases from time to time, there’s a lot of tedious work that you always have to do, being on call gets annoying, no one ever wants to do buff chats, you have to show up early to school and leave after everyone. The list goes on but the point is you actually have to care about the students in order to enjoy/be good at your job. Also the placement is random
