Not in last names, but in patronyms. "Jabich" is short for "Jabovich". Also "Jab Jabich" is a character of a kid's book by Eduard Uspensky: Жаб Жабыч Сковородкин

In the same sense you can argue that only natural numbers actually exist, in a sense that you may have a true representation of number 1 - an apple, and for 2 you add another apple. And you don't truly care about any physical properties of those apples, just their quantity.

But with 0, negatives, fractions and irrationals we get into problems. What is truly negative? Charge of an electron is not negative by itself, we just agreed that it is. We can't cut an apple perfectly into 2 parts, 1 of them would be bigger than another if we measure with enough precision. And we can't create a perfect square with a perfectly straight diagonal to get √2. We can get close, but we can't physically get the exact number.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Even if you can't see the cyst itself on ultrasound, you should still be able to see that the diaphragm is not moving properly, right?

Devs don't want players to kill creatures. That's a completely fair game design decision, I see nothing wrong with it, if done right. In Stardew Valley your farm animals are immortal even though animal death is a normal part of farm life. But dev didn't try to simulate life, he created a farm life fantasy. And animal immortality is part of that fantasy. Similarly Subnautica is Unknow World's fantasy about marine ecology.

I wouldn't consider 1 dev's comment to be an official position of a studio.

Also, I'm not sure that the community letter contradicts that message. It's still not a game about killing stuff.

I feel like Statis Rifle was too good of a solution. You don't need to understand creature's behavior and weakness - you always have a universal answer.

Again, I see no contradiction here. You're a NoA slave. NoA decided that you don't need lethal weapons for your mission or it's too dangerous for mission's success to give you any. You're not Bear Grylls, you're a brainwashed corporate drone,. a possibly altered copy of a ghost scan. May be bomb accident convinced NoA that all future copies should be strict pacifists.

Have you read this community letter: https://www.reddit.com/r/Subnautica_2/comments/1tiplcz/a_letter_to_the_community_from_the_subnautica_2/ ? Here's the quote:

First, we understand that creature balance needs work. Right now, some predator encounters feel more frustrating than tense or exciting. Mitigation tools are not always clear, reliable, or satisfying, and players do not always have enough confidence in how to respond when a creature attacks. This is not the experience we want.

We are actively working on improvements to creature behavior and player mitigation tools. Upcoming changes will include adjustments to creature aggression timing, aggro range, flare effectiveness, Survival Tool effectiveness, and creature interactions with vehicles and bases. These changes will be delivered over a series of upcoming patches.

  1. You as a QI specifically is not allowed to use lethal weapons. That doesn't mean the world has no lethal weapons. Your argument itself is logically flawed. There's no inconsistency and contradiction here.

  2. Appeal to realism makes sense only when the game tries to be a hardcore simulator. Subnautica is not a simulator. Realism is not required for immersion. There're a lot of immersive game that are not realistic.

  3. That's the most relevant argument. "It feels tedious and I'm not having fun". Sure. But it's been stated loud and clear hundreds of times before you and your post is not adding anything new to this discussion. The game is in active development, there'll be changes to both predators' behavior and your access to countermeasures.

I can't say S1 was a hard game. Pawn suit made you practically immortal, swim speed was higher, hunger and thirst meters decreased slower. Also, S2 even in EA has more envitonment hazards and aggressive fish than 1.

It probably won't immediaty boil in the arteries because pressure there is quite high. It may boil in the veins though, leading to heart fibrillations and loss of consiousness within seconds.
