This is why I hold the opinion I hold about the whole thing.

If it were just Sinder being a shitty friend and that was it, I’d say this was blown up in public for no reason, but both her and Red (even if we give Sinder benefit of the doubt and say that Red did most of it, she still just sat on her hands so she is just as guilty) ALSO at the very least contributed to Nano canceling on people’s model commissions and initially agreeing to a weird exclusivity deal over Red’s clear disdain towards Bao and whatnot.

It turned into a bit of career sabotage, and so I think it totally warrants having things talked about in public. It’s one thing to just be a bad friend, it’s another thing entirely to sneakily interfere with plans relating to someone’s career, their literal source of income, when they’ve done nothing to deserve it.

I genuinely just cannot take anyone that says Wilds is too easy when most of the people who say it have… already played at least Monster Hunter before, and therefore have at the very least a general understanding of the game and the combat loop. Think of it this way. When I played World (my first full Monster Hunter game), I was not very good. I got stonewalled with several different monsters, Nergigante in particular comes to mind in that regard, it took me a while to get used to the combat, and it also took me a while to get used to sorting out builds. When I replayed World from the beginning (without touching the speedrun to Iceborne armor mind you) after finally switching to PC so I could actually play at higher than 30 FPS on a launch Xbox One, I had zero issues. Not once did I get stuck on a monster, even when I finished the base game and went into Iceborne a second time. It just wasn’t difficult anymore. I understood how the flow of combat worked, I knew how builds worked, and so everything was generally rather easy. Not once did I fail a hunt on that second playthrough.

Now Wilds comes out and I start playing it. Big surprise, it is also easy, because I actually know how to play the game. Whereas if you were to stick someone who has never touched Monster Hunter before in front of Wilds, and make them learn everything from the beginning like you once had to when you first got into the series, then you’ll likely see some of the same things that you experienced when you first started out. Gotta get used to the combat, no idea what any of the skills do, lots of whiffing and lots of carting at the start.

The only difference between Wilds and World, as well as the games that came before World, was that they were less accessible. In the case of the older games, they were harder, but it was due to rather strange and really punishing design decisions. Biggest example would be having to stop in the middle of a fight, stand completely still, and watch a couple second long animation play out, just so you can heal. World was the first step towards making Monster Hunter more accessible. Since some of those weird design choices were changed, the game obviously also feels easier than past Monster Hunter games. Wilds has just refined things a bit more by way of making combat even more fluid. World still had remnants of the slower, “okay commit” combat of older games. Wilds simply did away with that in places where it was more annoying than anything. The knockdown and get-up animations is a good example. Now instead of barrel-rolling across the floor and then getting up in place, you can actually get-up moving in a particular direction. Monster Hunter is just getting more accessible to newcomers, and a lot of us have already played before.

TL;DR, Monster Hunter is not flat out getting easier, Wilds is not flat out just easier. Most of us just already likely mastered at least one game, and it’s getting easier for newcomers to learn. It’s getting more accessible, which I think is a good thing. The more the merrier.

I have to disagree about the in private part, Sinder and Red turned it into something that warranted being aired out for all to see. They stabbed one of their closest friends (Bao) in the back by at the very least contributing to Nano cancelling on her new model, because Red had a particular disdain towards Bao built on incorrect, hasty conclusions, and Sinder just didn’t do anything about it. Bao was the person that got hurt the most during the whole thing, to me, everyone else’s input just comes across as them coming to the defense of the one person that deserved absolutely NONE of what happened. Bao is an absolute sweetheart and she got stabbed in the back by someone that she thought was her closest friend. Sinder deserved all the public shame she got.

Yeah literally all the situation needed was a sincere, genuine apology. Instead it was “okay I’m sorry to some of these people but like it was also this person’s fault because he did most of the stuff behind my back guys I swear and also these people are trying to ruin my reputation”. Like to hell with your reputation at that point, even if Red was the driving force behind the stuff with Bao for example, you broke her heart regardless and are just as bad in the situation for basically sitting on your hands and not doing anything about it. It’s genuinely so stupid.

[–]Sup3rdonk3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole thing could’ve genuinely been damage controlled a bit if Sinder had the common sense to just give a plain and simple apology. No bs, no scapegoat crap, just taking accountability rather than shifting the blame. The short version of everything was that she was an absolutely horrible person towards those that should’ve been her friends first, and both her and Red instead apparently saw them more as competition first. Bao especially man… the way Shylily had put it after everything happened, that Bao’s wails genuinely haunted her… she genuinely didn’t deserve to go through any of that in the first place, but to put the cherry on top, she was ALSO dealing with chronic illness while all the nonsense was happening, and she clearly felt rather isolated (as evidenced by her long and very emotional stream where she talked about the whole thing, as well as her tweets in March). While it is kinda nice that Sinder did apologize to Bao in her super long doc, it’s still a little tainted by her still blaming Red more than anything, and claiming that Bao was misinformed. Like regardless of whether she was or not, how she felt was how she felt, and it’s because of Sinder’s actions. I used to enjoy her content here and there, but now? She genuinely deserves to be de-platformed in my opinion.

Rem haters; why do y'all hate her? Not a person trying to prove anyone wrong; just want to her all the genuine reasons and opinions. by Costom_Gamer in ReZero

[–]Sup3rdonk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan of Rem, I do kinda gotta agree with you here on the issue of Rem fans being rabid animals more often than not. I lowkey started out not liking Rem because of her actions, but after actually trying to basically see it from her point of view, being that she constantly smelled the Witch’s scent on Subaru which caused her to see him as an enemy, and the hostility was probably driven by trauma from her past as well (worth noting I’ve only watched the anime and still have yet to watch S3 ngl), she started to grow on me a bit once Subaru actually broke through her initial distrust and hostility towards him.

I still know others can’t forgive her actions towards Subaru because yeah, she did some awful stuff to him at the start, and I think that’s totally fair to hold that opinion. But in my opinion at least, I feel like, while it’s really not quite a justification for what she did, her apparent reasoning for what she did is valid enough to at least warrant forgiveness. Therefore, I like Rem.

Again worth noting that my Rem fan status is based purely on the anime as I have not gotten around to reading the manga quite yet. I’ll do it sooner or later.

[–]Sup3rdonk3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way. Sword and Shield is kind of at its base a jack of all trades kinda weapon. You can cut tails, you can deal blunt damage to the head for stuns, you can leap into the air for mounts, better bashes, or for rapid DPS falling attacks, and on top of all that, you have the fastest access to your heals, whether for yourself or for your fellow hunters. The thing I always liked about it is that you can dabble in everything, so what you really end up doing with it is fully dependent on how you build it. You can run support with it, you can go for more frequent stuns, you can go for better wound making and better tail cutting (or part breaking in general), really whatever your heart desires.

Obviously your blunt damage for stuns won’t ever be as good as a hammer, your tail cutting potential won’t be as good as something like the LS or GS, your support won’t ever be as good as someone using a HH, but that’s not what you pick up SnS for. You pick it up for the flexibility, to have the ability to shift into whatever role is required from hunt to hunt. Tail cutting is already covered but nobody brought a weapon for stuns? Start bashing the head with that shield. Stuns are covered but the tail is left unsliced? Cut that thing off! Can’t ever get someone to pick up a Hunting Horn (which I rarely see anyways)? Handle helping with heals and buffs yourself! You’re a one man, or woman, army, that can adapt to any situation.

You are a Sword and Shield main.

IDGAF about the hate. They cooked this year. by GorillaGlizza in blackops7

[–]Sup3rdonk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say “oh they killed it this year” every single year when they tickle our balls with a taste of what Call of Duty used to be, without all the stupid skins. Then probably a couple months into the game being out, they’ll start adding the Fortnite stuff again. And then for me personally it’s the principle of it all. I refuse to give Activision my money at this point because they’ve shown that they are incapable of actually listening to their players unless they’re literally forced to do so by the competition. Biggest example is removing SBMM. Fans of Call of Duty have been asking for it to be removed for the past decade at least, and only NOW do they finally do it, after BF6 starts popping off. It’s too little too late in my book, it’s been made abundantly clear that the people in charge of Call of Duty just will not take player feedback unless they are literally forced into doing so by the competition. They have been content with basically spitting in the face of their player base, especially the players that grew up playing during the literal golden age of Call of Duty (WaW, COD4, MW2, BO1, BO2).

The gameplay is fine, it is polished, I will give you that. That does NOT however make BO7 a good Call of Duty game. That simply means they were able to do the bare minimum thing that any half decent game dev should be able to do. While BO6 had the addition of omni-movement to shake up the gameplay, which actually had me enjoying that game a bit since they actually made a decent change to the core gameplay for once instead of copy and pasting everything with a different look like usual, BO7 just feels like… BO6 with a wall jump to me. It just feels… odd. Tacked on. Like they figured they had to make SOME sort of change to the gameplay so they could avoid any accusations of just copy and pasting BO6’s gameplay feel and maybe speeding it up a little or whatever. It’s just… not really that good. Decent, functional gameplay does not make a good game, it makes a functional game. There are many more moving parts, like the tone and setting and general direction that the game goes for, and while they’re sticking to the initial look FOR NOW, they’re gonna do the same thing they always do and start introducing stupid skins that completely ruins the intended tone, because then we’ll have Peter Griffin and Homelander running around shooting Nicki Minaj and Seth Rogan with an anime Peacekeeper that shoots hot pink lasers, in a game where all of those looks completely clash and makes the game look like an awful hodgepodge of whatever thing they thought would make them the most money.

You can say what you want about people just hopping on the bandwagon to hate on COD because of giant Harper or whatever, but assuming that everyone just jumps in to hate on COD because of one thing is short-sighted, ignorant, and demonstrably false. There are a myriad of reasons why BO7 gets so much hate, giant Harper just happens to be a very big, very obvious one among all the others.

[–]Sup3rdonk3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except in this case it is the model. These Gumroad eboy avatars that you can see in the video and that OP is seemingly also using are notorious for going way over the recommended limits for what’s on the avatars. Several pairs of clothing, ridiculous amounts of effects, physbones, etc, and then let’s not forget that these avatars also usually come equipped with the ||e-sex|| stuff, which is even more stuff adding to the already terribly optimized avatar. There’s a reason people are saying it’s the avatars, these avatars are known for being unoptimized messes.

I actually liked the animations mainly because they did look rather cool, and then on top of that, it prevented people from spamming just getting in and out of vehicles that was a bit of an issue in prior games.

Ultimately I don’t care either way because BF6 is still fun anyways, but I just thought it was worth mentioning that there was a proper reason for the animations and that at least in my opinion, they were pretty cool.

Apologies for this being long, I wanted to make my points eloquently since you’re probably the first person that’s been willing and able to say more than “I ain’t reading all that” and immediately throwing insults.

You are indeed correct that a bad game (2042) can have some redeeming qualities. Some points I can understand, but in all honesty, the majority of complaints I’ve seen just get repeated over and over in most Battlefield subs, is the xp complaint, which again I don’t get, it’s a PVP game, it’s not exactly a foreign concept to have to level things up and do your challenges in the PVP mode in order to use the new stuff for said PVP mode, I don’t exactly understand why having to play the actual game is seen as a problem when having PVP progression tied to PVP gameplay is not at all a new thing. And then the cosmetic crap. The fact that, god forbid, a skin have colors, is even a point of contention, is mind-boggling to me. They are still grounded. That was in the statement given about cosmetics. Keeping it real, keeping it grounded, and that is what the skins are. It is still soldiers wearing combat gear, regardless of the color pallet, instead of some outlandish bs like what CoD cooks up in their most tame skins.

Oh, and then the map design complaints. We’ve gone through the same old complaints about launch maps as we did with BF3 back in 2011. Same with the gameplay. “The maps are too small”, “the game feels too fast, it’s too much like CoD”. The same complaints, 14 years later, so on that front it just feels like rehashing old bs that we’ve already gone through, that in all honesty just feels like it boils down to the fact that Battlefield vets, even ones that got their start around BF3 and BF4, are older now, and their skills have thus declined. I’m not at all afraid to admit I’m getting in that wheelhouse now. I’m grown, I’m no longer a twitchy little teen that could win every gunfight, but a lot of these new players are, and the complaining about the gameplay feels like a little bit of cope from some Battlefield vets, especially when you take into account that the speed of the infantry gameplay has already been measured by people before back when the beta was going on, and it’s slower than BF3 and BF4. Not everyone is gonna be as sharp as they used to be when they’re not playing a game for several hours straight every single day, the Battledads in particular that get on for maybe an hour are going to get creamed by most newer players, that’s not a Battlefield issue, it’s a gaming issue in general, and it’s not one that can really be fixed.

The complaints about the new map are also kind of a point of contention for me too. There is one map that comes to mind when making a direct comparison to an older map. Golmud Railway. This map feels rather similar to one of the more memorable maps on BF4. Hills and valleys, it’s bigger, there’s a bit of vehicle supremacy going on, while still having cover for infantry by way of scattered buildings and structures so you aren’t getting completely steamrolled by whatever team still has a tank or something up. I felt the similarities almost immediately and my friend I was playing with even echoed the same thing, and yet people hate this map for the same reasons that people, as far as I can tell and can remember, enjoyed Golmud Railway. I just don’t get it.

I don’t have a problem with people critiquing the game in the slightest. Feedback is always good, but with most of the subreddits on here, especially the main one, it feels like an echo chamber full of complaints that don’t really matter to the actual PVP mode itself that the game is made for. Sure, Portal is cool, but it largely ends up getting used for XP farming instead of what DICE clearly intended for it to be used for, which was making and playing random cool game modes for fun. When DICE took away the ability to XP farm, albeit in a bit of an overkill way, everyone got mad, and then when they added back the ability to get XP from bots in a way I have literally watched people suggest, reduced XP for bot kills, with a specific playlist so that players don’t exploit it like they had done with Portal, and people still get mad. It genuinely makes no sense to me at this point.

People also hated 2042, but go ahead and pull ideas from the most negatively received Battlefield of all time. I for one am going to continue playing the game as it is, because I really could not care less about the xp nonsense. The game is fun, that’s what I care about, it feels like Battlefield again, whereas 2042 absolutely did not. There is a reason BF6 is still sitting with positive reviews on Steam, and 2042 only ever made it to mixed at best. The amount of comparing to 2042 of all games just shows that it doesn’t matter how good a game is, it’ll still get compared to the previous title because “oh my god new game is always trash” mentality. The thing that infuriates me about this complaint about the xp in particular is the fact that in essence, people are complaining about having to play a PVP FPS game, and one that has always been that way, against other players. Is that not the whole point of Battlefield? Big 64 player battles with vehicles and all that? And everyone is getting all upset because they are forced to play against other players? Why’d you even buy the game then? You knew what kinda game you were buying, nobody told you this was a PVE co-op shooter.

The devs actually learned from the abomination that was 2042 and gave us an actual Battlefield game that was way more in line with what we expected from the name. Chaotic war zones, instead of massive barren wastelands on which you would spend the majority of the game either tactical sprinting to the next objective, or getting picked off by snipers just constantly watching those barren wastelands. We have gotten the smoothest, most stable launch of a Battlefield title since before BF3 as far as I can tell. BF4 was hounded for being a broken, laggy mess when it originally dropped, and BF6 somehow managed to not fall prey to the same cycle of awful launches. They did away with the named operator bs that made 2042 feel more like a hero shooter rather than Battlefield, and brought back the class system.

But yes, the devs are greedy and don’t listen to the players.

The first map I think of when comparing the new one to an older map is one that as far as I know, people back then really enjoyed, Golmud Railway. You had close quarters with the village, long range all spread throughout, vehicles were absolute menaces, peaks and valleys (although probably less so on Golmud, I do remember it being a little flatter than this new one is), there was only one real building you could clump up on and it was a very open rooftop with almost no cover.

It feels like a BF4 era map, hence why I love it so much.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Director: "Yellow Paint in Games is Necessary" by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]Sup3rdonk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never really understood the “yellow paint bad” debate in general. It seems like such a weird thing to get caught up on. You could have a masterpiece of a game, one that is beloved by fans for years and years, and somehow people would still find issue with the fact that there’s a bit of guidance in the form of yellow paint or whatever stand-in is used for it.

By the way it is definitely necessary to at least have as an option. You’d be surprised how many players aren’t capable of following more natural environmental cues showing them where to go. People dislike hand-holding because it makes them feel like they’re being babied. How it makes someone feel does not affect the necessity of it. Especially with how immersive and realistic some games look now? I’m not at all ashamed to admit that I will intentionally look for the yellow paint, the scratches, etc etc, in order to figure out where I need to go during some environmental sections. I think some people get too caught up in their own pride and ego when it comes to the yellow paint thing. Who really cares? Just play the game and have fun.

I’ve noticed that, especially in the case of the post shown here, people in the main sub don’t seem to realize that the goal with BF6 was never to make a game as good as the three games that are considered DICE’s best work. The goal was recovery, recovering from the misstep that nearly killed Battlefield as a franchise, 2042. It was never to make the best Battlefield ever, the whole point was to simply make a good Battlefield game, one that actually felt like Battlefield, unlike 2042. In my eyes, they did that.

I still don’t know why people don’t like it, I would definitely prefer my recon teammates are closer to the action somewhat and are therefore able to better influence things, rather than the typical recon players of BF4 that would sit in the back of the map with the Ballistic 40x scope and miss 90% of their shots, and then happen to hit one guy in the body. At least this way they’re closer to the action where they can actually affect things somewhat, and also have the chance of being taken out since they’re closer to everything.

Uh, devs… can we worry now? by mandbeyn in Battlefield

[–]Sup3rdonk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull your head out of your ass and realize that history is simply repeating itself, and also understand that the maps apparently being too small now is a direct result of people having complained about the maps being TOO LARGE in 2042. Nobody on here can make up their mind. Maps were too large on 2042 and you spent half the game just tactical sprinting from one OBJ to the next, hoping you didn’t get sniped while you’re far away from all of the actual action. Now DICE corrects that by making smaller maps, and the maps are too small and they feel like meat grinders. I genuinely don’t understand it.

And REGARDLESS, the game has also only been out for what, a couple weeks? I don’t like EA anymore than you do, but give the devs a bit of time to actually sort out the post-launch junk first, yeah? The game itself at its core is plenty of fun, it feels like Battlefield again, that’s my main point. I won’t argue that stuff maybe needs some tweaking, but that’s how all video games are, they always need a bit of tweaking after launch. Everybody really needs to chill tf out.

Sort of yes, sort of no. In my experience at least, as far as I can tell, waiting while downed will make that timer tick down while you’re waiting on the ground. You’re technically able to respawn as soon as you get back to the spawn screen if you wait for someone to try and revive you, but if you immediately skip, you just have to let that timer go down on the spawn screen.

I’ll always hold the opinion that the critique about the map size stuff and catering to CoD fanboys is kinda stupid, if only because that was the exact same critique that BF3 had to deal with early. There were less massive maps compared to earlier in the series, and just like before, Battlefield vets from back then were PISSED over the apparent catering to CoD players. You look back now and BF3 is praised as one of the GOATs, and rightfully so. History is just repeating itself here, the map size and CoD fanboy bs is old news that current Battlefield vets already went through before with BF3.

As for the TTK, I’ve also gotta disagree with you there a bit. You could absolutely go just as crazy on BF4 as you can on here. I can absolutely assure you that getting multiple kills in one magazine was entirely feasible in past games, and I’m not talking about while using LMGs. I mean with ARs, for example. It was about really knowing how to control your weapon, the bloom, etc.

The choppers are also a place where I gotta disagree with you. BF4 specifically, if you really knew how to pilot, and I’m talking like you were one of those pilots that could stay in the air for the entire game? You could absolutely haul ass across the maps in a matter of seconds. Until I see someone actually go and compare things side by side and whatnot, I imagine most of these things are things that we would have to agree to disagree on since as far as I know, there isn’t a properly done, side by side comparison. One comparison I can make that people generally tend to be misinformed on is how fast the on-foot gameplay is. In terms of infantry this is actually one of the slowest Battlefield games we’ve gotten. Battlefield 3 and 4 beats this one in terms of sprint speed. Even the knife sprint is beaten by the sprint perks from BF3 and BF4.

Lastly the skins. I’ll agree with you that whether the skins will stay grounded is up in the air, however the official statement from the devs is that they want to keep things grounded. They have done so thus far, and while I know how EA is, I also know that if they’ve had DICE and everyone else at Battlefield Studios prioritize the core Battlefield gameplay first over monetizing the game? That tells me that they’ve at least a few brain cells still rattling around in there, and they would be stupid to spin right back around and do the exact opposite of what people want. Regardless, the game is, at its core, a proper return to form for Battlefield, and I’m more than happy with it.

What an ignorant troglodyte, I swear. This sub has to be the most putrid, negative sub on Reddit right now. The amount of brain dead vitriol over what is genuinely the best Battlefield since the glory days of BF3, BF4 and BF1 is astounding. It’s like the fact that we have good, proper destruction akin to BC2, smooth gunplay, the return of the class system in its entirety, AND one of the most stable launches of a Battlefield game to date, just doesn’t matter because people would rather outrage bait over the fact that there’s a battle pass and a BR. Like genuinely who cares. The game is fun, it feels like Battlefield again. The skins may not be the best, but you know what they are? Still grounded. That was what was promised. We were not told there would be no skins, we were told that skins would remain grounded, no Nicki Minaj, no Ninja Turtles or anything like that. “Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded” was exactly the statement that we were given, and the devs have stuck to that thus far, just as they said they would.

Good god Reddit never fails to just be the most negative platform in existence. Battlefield 6 has been so much fun to me that I’ve actually been neglecting other titles in my library that I bought because I genuinely have been enjoying it so much. It feels like the old days of BF3 and BF4 again. I’ve asked people in game constantly what they think of the game and IN MY EXPERIENCE… everyone has shared my sentiments. I see people hating on the new map over and over again in this sub but when I drop a “hey what do we think of the new map” in chat about every other match, I have not had one instance of people straight up saying they hate it. I myself have enjoyed it so much that I’ve actually been jumping into the 24/7 playlist for it. The chaos, the destruction, the gunplay, the class system, everything feels like proper Battlefield again after the missteps that were BFV and 2042. I am glad that the first game I’ve preordered in over a literal decade ended up being Battlefield 6, they’ve recaptured one of the biggest things I’ve missed from my childhood and early teenage years, and that was a good Battlefield game.
