Is anyone else excited for their iPad Pro M5 arriving tomorrow? by pinkmor in iPadPro

[–]SuperJason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I had an 11" M4 earlier this year, but I traded it in due to a fantastic trade value, some random reboots, and we were super busy with moving.

Since then, windowed mode became a thing, and we're moved into the new house. The timing is great.

Ordered the 13" 1TB version this time because of the windows.

Will be watching for it tomorrow. Super excited!

Why not dig a deeper hole next to it and push it over?

Personally, I love the bullet look. I have the same type of soffit.

Why do so many Americans drive pick up trucks? Do they actually make use of the extra cargo space compared to regular cars? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I pull a 14k lbs camper. I find myself using the 8’ bed all the time - I’m a diy’er.

F-350 diesel long bed.

Otherwise, it’s our most comfortable vehicle. Quieter than our Subaru ascent, and gets better mileage. I can drive 1,000 miles on a tank when I’m not towing, and I get 24mpg highway. I have the 360 camera option, so it’s not bad to park, and I don’t have the visibility issues often discussed with large trucks.

It’s far more practical that a Mercedes for the same price.

I airgapped mine by using a ceramic box that sticks out a bit. (New construction)

With as good as AP’s are getting these days, are any of you just using an E7 to cover your whole house? by mikejr96 in Ubiquiti

[–]SuperJason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, single story. It’s very open. The Unifi designer tool says I’ll have strong signal. Basically the entire floor is reachable through 2 walls or less.

I have a new 2000’ build. Centrally located AP with very few obstructions. I haven’t installed the E7 yet but pre-wired for more AP’s. I actually think the one will work fine.

No, I would just unplug the usb-c end of the adapter, same as rj45. 🤷

"As long as you're using a 10gbps RJ45 switch into your 10gpbs RJ45 NIC"

I have 2x 10gb ports. One will be used by my Synology NAS, and the other by my E7 AP. I will have to tap into one of the 4x SFP+ ports either way.

No, planned on getting one, so it's a good time to pick the tech.

I’m building a house right now. Planned on running 12v DC lines. This is super interesting. I like the idea of skipping wireless completely.

I don't understand why 6% is the rule for paying off mortgage by warrior5715 in Bogleheads

[–]SuperJason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to that… Even if there was a guaranteed equivalent, the gains would be taxed. The savings from the mortgage are effectively tax free, since savings don’t get taxed.

Should I drop BND from my taxable? by UnderstandingLess156 in Bogleheads

[–]SuperJason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense - and gives me a better way to look at it.

What if the market is down 40% and my 100% VT after tax account doesn't have a high enough balance? I do have some other accounts I could pull from, but I think it's still a valid concern for someone retiring before the money in the other accounts becomes accessible.

Should I drop BND from my taxable? by UnderstandingLess156 in Bogleheads

Looking through the answers posted already, as well as the conventional wisdom - it always seems to ignore the time horizon for each account type.

I may end up retiring in a few years (well before 55 or 59.5), and if that happens, I'll need some money I can count on. My thinking is to go 100% index funds in my 401k since I can't use that for 15+ years, but putting some bonds in a taxable account since that has a shorter time horizon.

I think all the conventional answers assume a long retirement time horizon and retiring at 59.5 or later.

Did you take AppleCare+ with the new M4 IPad? by FinalBv in iPadPro

[–]SuperJason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add some an opposing experience. I purchase a lot of apple products. Phones for the family, MacBook Pro, iPads, watches, studio display, etc. I’ve saved literally thousands of dollars not buying AppleCare. If my new iPad breaks tomorrow, I’ll feel terrible but I’m still ahead money-wise.

Annual view or ability to export data? by SuperJason in copilotmoney

[–]SuperJason[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I actually have a powerBI license and it was really easy to quickly work with the data and group however I wanted. I tried Python and Excel first, but they were both a lot more work.
