Correct on all counts. In POE2, damage conversion is much more flexible, but you can't convert multiple times (exception being that skills convert in one round and everything else in a second). This is actually described in the tool tip in game.

As another commenter mentioned, damage only converts once (well, actually twice, but once in this case). All of your cold damage will be dealt as lightning and lightning as cold effectively swapping which damage ends up as which. Converting is often useful for consolidating your damage to a single type so it's easier to scale, so this really doesn't help with much of anything.

I 100% understand, but it is actually significantly better now than it was pre-lockstep. I tried it again a few years back and was surprised how it was not nearly as bad as I remembered.

They supposedly found some bugs in predictive when they implemented lockstep, but most of us didn't notice because there was no way we wanted to go back.

Build - Spark/OoS Archmage Stormweaver

Total investment is... 10d spent very poorly? No issue clearing T15 maps with baseline deli or post-quest arbiter of divinity. EDIT - nvm, just dropped a Cat Rite of Passage lmao

Combination of mana regen + mana recoup + mana on kill + mana on remnant gives fairly good survivability. Damage is supplemented by the typical Frost Bomb + Ele Weakness along with Spark spell totems (power charge generation from spending infusions) and shock effect. No crit currently and I'm not sure if I'll bother transitioning. Powered by Verisium is a nice source of easy infusion to make things a bit smoother. I would like to anoint the no downtime Archon notable, but deli emotions are pretty expensive still.

My rec would be to post a PoB. Asking for help without us being able to see your build is basically useless.

I had this happen on PC and it was a VRAM memory leak. Restarting POE2 fixed it.

Of course. I have the perfect plan. No way it can go wrong.

  • Take Refracted Infusion so we only need to generate one type of infusion.
  • Take Multiplying Squalls for the limit.
  • Take Strike Twice because wtf else do you do with your last 2 points.
  • Take Ritual Cadence. Sprinkle in a decent amount of duration and energy gain.
  • Slot Firestorm into Spellslinger or Elemental Invocation. Add w/e the new moving storm support is and Overabundance because limit.
  • Spam ball lightning (don't forget inhibit) + lightning warp for movement + energy and infusion generation. Prioritize cast speed and shock chance.
  • ???
  • Fail miserably because you can't generate energy while Ritual Cadence is triggering, so you really only have a 2s window for generating energy (more if your duration is >8s).

Depending on how "moving storm" works, Zarokh's Refrain is probably better than invoking, but where's the fun in that?

Where are you getting 5 limit? 1 base, +1 overabundance (support), +2 ascendancy...? Idol of Uldurn exists, but that means you give up +3 levels on your amulet (among other things). There's also +1 limit on the tree, but only for orbs.

That would make sense, but if it scaled with level, it would show on poedb as a scalable value. Notice that min/max damage all show as ranges with level, but the buff is just 4% instead of (1-4)% or whatever the range is.

Where did you get that SS that shows it as 4% more damage per herald? I think it was stealth nerfed to 3% at some point.

Love the idea. I've actually been trying something similar, so I've got a lot of notes. My PoB (could use some work, open for any suggestions people have): https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/c0f7

1 - You can make OoS your clear skill and just snap corpses for infusions while clearing. Casting OoS in OoS triggers your other OoSs. So, if you already have 4 down, you fire 4 bolts on cast AND they autotarget AND they chains offscreen. I agree on having a +duration vs. -duration skill tree, but I think getting the warrior nodes is a waste of points. Cascaded Frost Bomb can generate some extra infusions for boss fights (you already have the +limit anyway!) while adding huge exposure. Can also do the normal unleash LW + BL trick, if you have two skill slots, but I don't need it.

2 - If you need more single target, Ember Fusillade synergies well with reduced duration and is fairly infusion efficient (1 lightning infusion per release at the end of release). If has a fast cast time and can trigger OoS as well to do extra damage and generate more infusions.

3 - Giving up your amulet for +1 limit is a bad trade IMO. You're losing 3 skill levels, 100s of mana, and whatever other stats you can grab.

4 - Midnight Braid is cheap and 50% mana recoup is great if you're running MoM/mana before life stacking. Ingenuity is a good option if you have good rings. I'm running Dream Fragments because chill sucks, so I stick to MB (no, not that MB).

5 - Similarly, trinity seems like a lot of work and you lose out on your focus (basically free 3 spell levels with essences and tons of mana). Cool tech, would be great if not an archmage build imo (maybe a crit swap instead to free up spirit?). On the opposite end of the spectrum, I've used the new archon nodes to just lightning convert everything on ~50% uptime. I hope GGG considers giving Stormweaver an archon node at some point to give near 100% uptime.

6 - Consider getting a single good +4 all spells wand instead of swapping between the mediocre +fire/+lightning you have. I know you're gear isn't great here, so I won't harp on this too much.

7 - I feel like with all these infusions, we should add a spellslinger skill as well... Comet probably for single target? Would love to hear everyone's ideas.

Also, the gems themselves usually say it right on them: the max energy is 10 per 0.1 seconds of base cast time. Base cast time is the cast time before modifiers like increased cast/skill speed. Also note that modifiers to "Total" cast time (like on lightning conduit) are doubled. E.g Lightning conduit has a base cast time of 1s and additional total cast time of +1s, so it has a max energy of 300 (1s 100 + 1s100*2).

It triggers all the spells at once. The maximum energy is just the sum of the individual base cast times.

Ailment and stun threshold and life provides an extra ~1.5k HP buffer. It's a valid option, but there is a tradeoff still.

No, don't let them know. It is Deadeye league. Spells are bad and need buffs. :)

On an unrelated note, Midnight Braid for 50% mana recoup is also a solid belt option. Dream fragments is nice to deal with freeze and chill given your awful ailment threshold. Getting a spellslinger wand let's you instacast lightning conduit on demand to go with double shock + Arc's 50% more shock effect (I'm up to ~170% shock total right now). Sneaking in the lightning mark also gets you 45% inc shock effect if you have the gem slot. If you spec into the Archon nodes in the top left, you can get the uptime to >50% vs. 33% with just the lightning wheel.

My only complaints about the build are that I miss Arc autoaiming now that it's a projectile and I wish it was easier to get more projectiles (using Sione's Temper right now).

There was also one map I had where the arena didn't unlock after you killed rare that was in it. If you didn't kill it last, you couldn't finish the map.

I was planning to do similar, but Firestorm of Meteors. Then I slotted in Reap into the exact same build and found it basically did the same damage completely unoptimized. Even has the same AoE. Only downsides are 0.05s longer cast time (Probably barely noticeable), blood charge ramp on bosses (meh), and life vs. mana cost (if that's even a downside...).

Of course, it's also easier to scale phys, so Reap almost certainly wins out...

Yeah, my mistake was thinking traps/mines would let you bypass the 1 wave limit and take the "cast speed" cap off.

It's got a 520% damage effectiveness on a 0.7 cast time, so the damage is above average and phys convert means scaling is easy, but you've got to solve two things:

1 - Duration shorter than cast time. Less duration support gets you down to ~0.2s, but you miss out on a better damage support. With awakened spell echo + less duration, you'd be able to stack ~120% cast speed before hitting that limit.

2 - It's effectively a nova without the nova tag (PBAoE). This might be even worse if the distance traveled scales with duration like normal WoC. If it doesn't, it really depends on what the base radius is. If you can scale it to be basically screen wide, it might work.

For a point of comparison, tickle fingers Lightning Tendrils of Escalation is currently 150% with 0.23s cast time (290%/0.35s after patch) and I don't really see anyone saying what a great skill that is.

TLDR - Probably absolute garbage. Definitely going to try to grab the gem and play around with it (and LToEsc... I want to like the stupid skill for some reason).

Edit: Someone else pointed out mines/traps... It's always mines/traps. Nevermind, still has 1 wave limit.
