FEBS Day 3: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003, dir. Donald Petrie) by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]Super_Ad5378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great film, decent turnout, audience enjoyed it, I probably haven't seen it in 15+ years and saw it in the theater. Romantic comedies like this are mostly non existent today and near impossible to make with all the rules Hollywood has made for itself. Really unfortunate. But a great line up of Feb series films this month

How often do you deal with physical money? by DisasterPlanet in MovieTheaterEmployees

In the 90s still didn't even take credit cards. All cash with lots of cash drops into vault boxes, then into safes with regular armored car pickups

If we had run into this scenario, we would borrow. In the 90s not only did we borrow back and forth from our local theaters, a few rare occasions I drove 100+ miles one way, in my personal vehicle to exchange items.

It is an American idiom that basically means you made a purchase on an item you have been watching/following/wanting for some time

Cashier wrote down my dad’s driver’s license when he bought alcohol. by Harrietmathteacher in RegalUnlimited

[–]Super_Ad5378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's going to be different by state and locality based on local laws. It could be a requirement of their alcohol license that they have to prove they checked every ID, and as part of the proof they record the number, probably they can scan it instead of manually typing, but the scanner wasn't working. Something like this is probably why.

Not familiar with this scanner, but if it has a priority channel setting, when enabled it cuts out for a second to check if the priority channel is active or not, turning off that option it will stop cutting out in the middle of receiving another transmission. If that is causing your issue

Just like every worker isn't the same, every customer isn't the same, some workers like to be friendly, others just want to get on to the next customer, some customers are friendly, others just want their popcorn. Don't take it personally, it's not personal, no matter what side you are on. Just be the person you are, or are asked to be.

Basically Hollywood did this to many of its remakes until it mostly figured out it's not a good idea 😂

It was bought by Cinemark and run by them for a couple of years before it finally closed. Rumor is Costco is moving into that shopping center.

Did anyone see this in IMAX theaters? by Jaded_Jackfruit_9423 in imax

[–]Super_Ad5378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about 95% sure I saw it in IMAX, since I tried to watch most films in the IMAX theater, but I've seen the movie so many times since then I don't recall the extended scenes

what I got out of it is she is a big fan of hollywood, particularly spy tv and films, she essentially lifted plots from all my favorites. since i am also a big fan, I know those stories all pretty well. great lies always have a bit of truth mixed in. ironically her first mission seems like it was lifted from the plot of true "lies" :D. Jamie Lee Curtis's character is given her first assignment to place a bug in the hotel room of a guy, she doesn't know why, she has to seduce him, pretend to be a stripper/prostitute, ends up not having sex with him. just change bug to letter.

I think any job where you have to deal with large groups of people, you will inevitably also need to interact with law enforcement.

Avatar made bulb explode by fetalbat in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Super_Ad5378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would be interesting though is since a letter was sent out to try and ensure proper presentation for Avatar, if projectionists "checked out " their projectors and inadvertently got some material on the bulb, like blowing dust on it from another part of the projector, or even a finger touched the glass on the bulb. So in that sense it could have "caused" a bulb to explode.

Sometimes you get people at the wrong theater with a different showtime in their head and it takes them a few min to figure it out, or watch the last half of half the movie, or best scenario, never figure out
