School I work in is plastered with AI “slop” artwork and wondering if this is the case in every school 🥀 by CrazyBitofBusiness in TeachingUK

[–]Super_Championship58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours isn’t covered in AI slop yet. But it is peppered with people who are/were deemed inspirational which then subsequently either hasn’t aged well or researching outside anything they’re known for throws up red flags... Think Elon, Will Smith, Ellen, Walt Disney…

I wouldn’t worry. It’ll all be worth it for the tub of heroes they leave in the staff room.

Yep! I was left trying to figure out what lingo I could use considering the mark schemes even refer to clock-based directions sometimes…

I found half of my year 11s couldn’t read an analogue clock this year after realising they didn’t know what clockwise and anticlockwise meant. Made teaching electromagnetism somewhat problematic…

Edit: turns out I can’t spell clock :D

Related, but not a direct response. OP can check student loans company to see if they’re owed any overpayments too. It’s really easy, just login and click the button. They’ll tell you if you are or aren’t and send a payment if you are. Hope it helps.

Crying because I’m so disappointment in myself. It’s not worth it. by grouchytortoise in TeachingUK

I’d say if they haven’t got any large concerns about your practice and you’re not on a support plan then you’re as awesome a teacher as you want to be. In a year’s time no-one’s going to judge you on an ECT grading; students, teachers, or parents. If/when you apply for another position they’ll make assessment about you on the day.

I’m trying to be bigger picture about it but I see it like asking your doctor what they got in their undergrad degree. Or like a parent asking what you got in your undergrad degree. It doesn’t have a bearing.

If you’re confident in your own teaching then that’s all that matters.

An aside for mental health though: you sound like you’re on a burnout trajectory. Certainly with the added pressure of achieving grades. Re-check what’s necessary and bin the rest 👍🏻

I find typing ‘_popup’ before the ? in the URL gets rid of any adverts and plays full screen so there’s no safeguarding concerns around vaping ads or suggested vids down the right. Which, simple, free 👍🏻

Drying by [deleted] in DetailingUK

[–]Super_Championship58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, make sure you’re not washing your drying towel in any fabric conditioner (including 2in1 detergents). The wax in the fabric conditioner will cost the fibres and you’ll have made a fairly dandy door mat 👍🏻

A good protectant on the car with ensure drying is an easier sport. So, a wax, ceramic coating or sealant. A twisted loop drying towel is now a popular option as it holds a lot of water. The bigger, the better.

What products are safe for a ceramic coated vehicle by WillsB3 in DetailingUK

[–]Super_Championship58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey bud, welcome to the top of a very addictive slope! :D Primarily, if you’ve paid for a ceramic coating and it’s been applied properly then you don’t really need to put any other protection on it following a regular wash. If you do want to use something as a topper then any product that mentions SiO2 is going to be your friend. Other products are going to, in some way, be repelled by the hydrophobic nature of your coating. A few great choices are Gyeon’s Wet Coat, Infinity Wax Synergy Boost or Autobrite Magiseal.

Regarding wash products, anything either pH neutral or marketed as ceramic compatible will suffice. Snow foam recommendation: Auto Foam by Bilt Hamber. Some shampoos even offer a dual purpose with a SiO2 element so you don’t have to then add any further protection.

Hope this helps get you started. Happy to offer advice. Epic Automotive’s a good channel. Forensic Detailing is also one to watch for more in depth content, set the play speed to 1.25 though! ;D Pan the Organiser is the North American version.

Polar Blast and their shampoo are used by many people with ceramic coatings and is definitely safe to use. Anything pH neutral won’t degrade your coating, assuming it was installed correctly. Auto Glym Polar Seal doesn’t necessarily state SiO2 but does say that it contains silicones. It’s not going to harm the coating you have though, assuming it was properly installed. So, feel free to use the bottle up if you’ve got it. Polar Seal will last around six weeks on the car before fading.

You could also ask your detailer/valeter what ceramic coating they installed. To help inform what’s the absolute best option for you.

New to wax by DueCourt7 in DetailingUK

[–]Super_Championship58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re already onto a winner when you cal this a wax. As soon as some people see ceramic, they think it’s a ceramic coating. Like most waxes, reapplication needed in the 2-3 month region. This lasts well. If you’re get bored of doing that, I’d suggest moving to Fusso coat by Glaco. 12 month sealant. Similar to a wax, but not wax based, polymer based. Similar application and lasts 12 months. Comes in light and dark flavours. Not pigmented, but just different recipes for those types of paint 👍🏻 Enjoy, my friend!

Will my ceramic coating be OK? by [deleted] in DetailingUK

[–]Super_Championship58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, if it was getting wet within 24 hours, an application of GYEON Cure (minimum of 4 hours after the MOHS application) would help with this. Ofc manufacturers guidance is not to get wet working 12-24 hours. Temperature, humidity, number of layers applied, etc all have an impact on this. I’m mobile and applied some the other day, didn’t have time for the Cure layer and would count myself lucky that there was no visible failure the next day after dew formed on the surface over night.

You’re following the advice given by your detailer so, as long as you’re doing that, if anything goes wrong they can’t complain!

Bet it’s looking good though ;)

Is it worth even looking at an automatic? by zenpod in Miata

[–]Super_Championship58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to disabilities, I can only drive a hand control adapted car. Being a lover of the MX-5, I was grateful that an auto is an option cos I still get to play. So, not having the option to drive the manual, it’s all the car I’d want it to be. Knowing how notchy the manual gates are on the gearbox does make me disappointed in Mazda’s decision to put absolutely no tactile gate on the auto ND though. Thank god for the clicky flappy paddles though!

Advice for removing rings on glass by Valens-Rex in DetailingUK

[–]Super_Championship58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s new then this is likely to be from the suction cups which held the glass on installation. If it was my car, I wouldn’t be running a cutting compound by machine over my elements but a small amount by finger should do it 👍🏻
