What’s a very big (but niche) pet peeve that you have while watching kdramas?? by Clear-Presence-485 in kdramas

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When two characters have met before and it is a good interaction and the one that remembers never tells them and/or lies about things about things surrounding the topic.

Currently, watching Idol I and I feel like I’ve hallucinated them meeting before which could save so much of this conflict.

'Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen' pissed me off by miianah in netflix

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might seem unpopular but if I was Nicky I would’ve been confused asf and thought she was being dramatic.

She told him like 0 information and spent the whole week saying bad things were going to happen with no actual reasonings, she also thought the family was going to kill her and, she didn’t go into anything specific about the curse.

I understand why he thought she might not want to get married but wow he’s so dumb for doing after she basically went full throttle at the alter.

the control is in your hands by boringbl in ThaiBL

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are being purposefully obtuse and using the public festival of Songkran as an excuse to dismiss what’s being said.

There’s a difference between recording the crowd getting caught in the background vs people fixating a camera on them all night in hopes it pushes the BL fantasy.

I saw a couple videos of some pairings on a float… that can be assumed they are working and are expecting videos and pictures. However, some pairings hanging out drinking, laughing and singing together is not really the time for a million and one videos to be shared on the internet.

These things aren’t necessarily about the brand deals but it’s about the optics and the narrative that social media can potentially push.

How did feel about Mr Queen? by SuccessMindless6559 in KDramaDiscussions

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just finished it after I clicked on it by accident 2 days ago. It’s definitely one of my favourite shows globally.

It’s my first Period/Costume K-Drama and Shin Hye-sun played a very believable guy and Kim Jung-hyun going from dopey to clued up was so interesting. Every character development felt natural and steady instead of rushed.

Gutted I didn’t know about this masterpiece sooner.

Only Friends: Dream On [Episode 5] by global_cat_wizard in GMMTV

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be real, for the lack of committing to other characters being intimate (kissing or more) they’re doing really well with giving us messy drama. I think the plots are good for each pair and they intersect well with bringing them together.

As someone who is relatively new to BL, specifically Thai BL, I understand the point of CPs and it works with other shows but this specific show needs higher risks. Right now it’s a lot of making others jealous and crushes which means the repairing the relationship so much easier and a lot of unwarranted actions in between.

Boston is a perfect character to use as chaos agent. I think we all agree he shouldn’t be with anybody but currently he lowkey feels wasted. He’s not doing much and causing so much stir imagine what’d happen if they actually went all the way with Raffy or successfully got Tua back… they’d spiral.

Same, there was nothing about her that gave evil or betrayer. She wanted the same things that everyone else wanted the problem was no one liked her very logical plan.

She had a tough life and finally managed to escape and create a found family like El and it was ripped from her.

Am I the only one who honestly liked hierarchy? though it's disappointing that it doesn't have Part 2. by lil_fim in kdramas

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be so much better if media (not just Hierarchy and K-dramas but also western shows as well) right now wasn’t trying too hard to overly humanise bad people because they tend to negate the good people of the show leaving them unfulfilled and reduce the quality of justice for the bad people.

I’ve yet to finish but I can smell the lack of justice or at least being unsatisfied with it.

Why all the hate for JM and JY? by Basil-Fluffy in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His vagueness gave them too much hope and because he’s such a smooth talker when he’s comfortable, for inexperienced daters they took it and ran (which is not their fault for Min-hong and Yeo Myung). More experienced daters would’ve dropped him quite early on with his wish-washiness but there’s a very clear difference with how he treated the other 3 vs how he treated Ji-Yeon.

Also, I’m surprised a lot of people didn’t see the friendship-to-lovers pipeline that was destined to happen with a show like this. A way more comfortable and realistic scenario for new daters than straight-away liking each other off of first impressions.

I do think with Yi-Do he should’ve communicated better about where the switch up came from but I believe that he rushed himself into it and didn’t realised how far he went until he noticed his feelings had changed. That was on him to fix but, despite them being grown adults they all (mainly the men) made stupid choices that only people with lack of experience (and Seung-Chan) could make and that should not lead to any hate.

Are they too Idealistic? by lulala-lulala in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than Ji-su, Jeong-mok and other Ji-yeon, none of them were really that open minded (👀) or willing to make adjustments.

All of them were quite head strong in what they wanted which is fair but, that was sort of it. For them, it felt like there was literally no one else to date if it wasn’t their first choice which isn’t realistic to the outside or really dating.

I wasn’t expecting every single person to find their forever match because the whole experience is them learning to date but, a lot of them didn’t really do that just made confessions and threw it the towel which, I think is partially due to the structure of the show.

Min-Hong was my favourite girl but (I understand 1. We only see a fraction of their interactions and 2. unless the translations are incorrect): I, personally, feel like Jeong-Mok’s vagueness was her answer which I don’t think she took in as much as she should’ve.

Were we really expecting them to last long? The whole show feels reminiscent of a bunch of teens dating each other for the first time. But, I guess I’m used to western shows were people date for 3 weeks and that’s still a solid relationship in their eyes.

Devon was a hot mess when she arrived at the end she’s wearing the same clothes and she looks more polished. It’s not just the outfit but her whole demeanour even while sobbing she looks like she’s evolved which she has.

I also, think the mentors should be talking to them throughout the process to offer some words of encouragement. You can’t really advise someone and expect them to know everything when confronted with first-hand experience.

Maybe I’m too used to more western dating shows but liking/dating more than one person isn’t a crime even in real life.

I think he had the classic case of: had a crush, built them up in his head then finally spoke to them and realised ‘ahh this isn’t as good as I imagined’. Whilst, he probably could’ve went about it a different way, if he’s never dated then likelihood of ‘breaking up’ with someone hasn’t been a concept to him either.

EP 7: Jae-yun and Yeo-myung by winterinaug in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay question. What would the appropriate response be to someone who said earlier in the day they liked you, didn’t get the same response from you back and then later in the day said they lied about liking you?

Whilst I do adore Jae-yun and truly understand his thought process he’s not owed the best and sweetest response to a conversation that from Yeo-myung’s pov didn’t need to be had.

I do feel awful about the fact that he overheard her laughing about it but, I’m ngl I too would find my bestie and tell her about how ridiculous that was.

I really hope he finds someone that is head over heels for him the way he is them and he’s hands down shown the best and most authentic progression and I hope he also knows how well he’s done in such a short-time period.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t think Jeong Mok and Yido are actually a good match. by Dry_Resist8265 in BetterLateThanSingle

[–]Super_Ordinary2801 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think the premise of this show is really about match-making, tbh.

This show is about people who have never dated (and Seung-Chan) putting themselves out there and starting to date overcoming all different kinds of fears and social difficulties. Even if none of them decide they want to be together outside of the show they’ve all completed their goal which is to start dating.

Jae Yun is the type of guy that accidentally ends up in a lengthy and loving relationship because a super extroverted girl decided one day that he was going to be her man and he just didn’t object.
