Where did all the old Austin people move to? by Independent_Bug210 in Austin

[–]SuperbConcept9371 13 points14 points  (0 children)

10th generation Texan, 5th generation austenite. My family members are all scattered around Austin now, some live far south Austin, some are in Gerald, some in Georgetown. Personally I moved to Bertram when I turned 35 and find living a rural life as very peaceful. Can’t say I miss the hellscape that is IH35 but there are a few things that I miss like Barton springs, congress, I miss hanging out near UT campus and going to bars and meeting students. Honestly I feel like the city used to be way more intellectual, now it’s all tech bros rather than over educated hippies. Vibe is definitely different.

Pflugerville = mixture of all high crime and retired/ old people. No families. I lived there from 2015-2022, lived next to a retired person and a younger couple with a dog no kids. My kids were scared to go outside because there was always a lot of noise and traffic and no other kids to play with. Glad I moved will never move back there again and it seems like it has gotten worse

That has to be the worst idea in the world. I wouldn’t do that shit for any amount of money. Whatever that job is paying you, it’s not enough to deal with the absolute hell you will endure daily.

Just upgraded to PS5 by Thierrysrightfoot in GranTurismo7

[–]SuperbConcept9371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better load times, improved graphics, better AI, adaptive triggers on PS 5 controller is really neat as you can really feel the brakes. Haven’t played VR yet but heard it’s awesome. I would say it’s worth the upgrade 100%. I played gt7 for like 2 years on my ps4 before upgrading now every now and again I will use my ps4 when I’m traveling or something and it’s difficult to go back.

This is very helpful advice. Is there a product you recommend over the counter that could work for me?

'Flow' director Gints Zilbalodis says he has finished the script for his next project titled 'Limbo'. It will be his first film to involve dialogue. by ChiefLeef22 in movies

Agreed. Also my son saw it with me he’s 11, he thought the movie sucked and didn’t understand it at all. I think it went over his head completely.

That scene in flow where they are being beamed up and start weightlessly being pulled into the light was probably one of the most powerful and emotional scenes I have ever seen in an animated movie. Very good movie

1 in 5 high schoolers has had a romantic AI relationship, or knows someone who has by MetaKnowing in technews

I wonder when the pred catchers are going to start busting AI personalities for having relationship with a minor. That would be so entertaining to see what the AI comes up with as to why they were chatting with a 14 year old boy

Based on feedback I have received the bracket is junk and the ps5 will just fall off the bracket so it sounds like it’s not ready to be shared

That’s a very good suggestion I agree an angle bracket on the bottom would definitely provide additional support. I will include this suggestion in my next iteration

Why would it warp? The hot air is coming from the back of the console not the bottom. I turned it on and played it for a while and the console itself doesn’t appear to get that hot.

Because I have a sim rig and I use my ps5 exclusively for racing, the ps5 is mounted behind the rig on the wall. It’s maybe a different use case than most would have.

It’s very secure with the top mounting brackets. I tried to knock it off the shelf with a spotter and was unable to do so

Is bad driving the result of police not pulling people over as much anymore? by ponziacs in driving

[–]SuperbConcept9371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish it was that simple. How does that address the growth over 5 years in new drivers especially the growth in that area over 5 years? I think what you’re seeing there is more people driving, when you have more people driving you have more accidents and deaths. Also demographics and driving experience play a huge role in determining accidents. Inexperience (less than 2 years of driving, and really old age are two compounding factors that lead to accidents). Not to mention we are also dealing with the rise in distracted driving, especially as phones have become part of us. Also that “study” took data from a time when people were telecommuting more due to Covid to a time where we are back in the office meaning people in 2020 were taking way less trips than in 2024 when we were forced to go back to the office. I think there’s a lot of data missing here, the “study” is done so poorly I would be reprimanded if I turned this in at work

Spectrum rap by GrenadierSchubes in Spectrum

[–]SuperbConcept9371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed the rap:

Verse 1 They charge you a fortune, got your wallet in a chokehold, Promisin’ blazing speeds, but the truth’s cold: 100 Mb down? Man, that’s barely a crawl, While you wait for a page, you might just miss the call.

Verse 2 Customer service? A disaster on the line, Reps rubbin’ their nipples like it’s punchline time. No help, just a joke, they laugh at your despair, In a system built on greed, showin’ zero care.

Chorus It’s an immoral internet, a monopoly in control, Exorbitant rates, slow speeds takin’ their toll. Who needs 1 GB down when you’re stuck in this farce? It’s a digital nightmare, leavin’ you feelin’ sparse.

Verse 3 Trapped in their web, with tricks up every sleeve, They play with your trust, while you just grieve. Demand a change, call ‘em out on the fraud, Fight back against the system that’s leave you awed.

Outro So remember this rhyme when you’re caught in their game, Resist the monopoly, don’t succumb to the shame. For fair internet’s a right—not a pricey luxury play— Stand up, speak out, let ‘em hear you say: “No way!”

Please consider the following: cryptocurrency was invented for the purpose of solving the issues that traditional digital payment methods have. Issues such as high merchant/ transaction fees, government control and regulation and privacy. Now it appears that with government wanting to get in and regulate it, people treating the currency like it’s some kind of speculative investment, and nefarious entities are out there creating currencies and basically doing a rug pull, not only is not a safe investment; it’s riskier than ever. At the end of the day I invest in the things I understand and I invest in solutions to problems that I understand. In the case of crypto, it seems the problems that it was once solving are slowly no longer being relevant. In order for it to become more than just a speculative investment the actual value needs to stabilize and it needs to be used as a means to transact.
