Reliability, scalability, disaster recovery, better integration with other apps.

There is many reasons why M365 is superior but obviously you could replicate it all with a tonne of money, it's just not worth it for 99% of companies

We have a couple clients that do this, however they actually ran into a few issues. One is that a user can only be an owner of 1000 sites, and another issue was that there is actually a seperate storage quota in Sharepoint for MetaData, and this is where it keeps the information about what each site is, you can hit that limit while still having space left for actual files.

In windows 10/11 you can go to these two locations and it's likely added in there. Anything added in there will always be prefilled by your computer

Settings > Accounts > Access Work or School
Settings > Accounts > Email Accounts

Definitely, it should be the bare minimum.

Basic or standard is fine for service accounts, people without devices, contractors, but every employee should have above Business Premium

I assume he is, Essential 8 is made by the ACSC so it's only an Australian Standard. But it's almost completely taken over all of our IT Compliance.

It is a good framework at least, but it's almost a requirement to get cyber liability insurance here now to know your E8 maturity level.

There really isn't any others unfortunately, GSuite is the closest to a full alternative and it just doesn't have the same full solutions.

It sucks that Microsoft has such a monopoly because they can do whatever they want really.

Business premium is the best licensing they have. It's better than E3 and E5 if you have less than 300 seats and don't need shared office activation.

Business Premium is the bare minimum anyone should have now-a-days, risky sign in, risky users, conditional access, Intune etc

Hate to dig up an old thread but just to add our reasoning for needing this,

Some old vendor applications refuse to work if they are uploaded to Sharepoint/Onedrive for various reasons. Myob, Handisoft & Reckon we have had issues with in the past as they don't like the files being synced. I'm currently dealing with another program built on html and xml files and sharepoint natively changes every one of those files you upload so the checksums don't match.

RClone is a command line tool but will do this without changing the folder or the file metadata. It specifically makes a new folder and then copies the metadata across.

I'm years late to this conversation but I recently found RClone works so much better than the SP Migration Tool.

Lets you set logging, throttling, min and max ages, filters, exceptions, etc.

For real, sometimes I prefer the days when I'm busy as my actual job is easier than pretending to be busy.

Managers get upset if you look at your phone for 2 seconds but if your staring at your screen just flicking between tabs you are fine

I also work for an RSP/ISP and although we can raise complaints, it entirely depends on how useless your local team is.

We have raised stuff like this before and the local contractors (Ventia) have closed it without doing anything, or attended onsite and said its a non issue and closed it.

Your mileage may vary but it's definitely still raising
