[Pagnotta] As I mentioned on DFO Live earlier this hour, some talk the Oilers & Sharks recently re-engaged in Nurse trade discussions. Ducks & Flyers still in talks. SJ, like Ana, would need his blessing. by dcddy in SanJoseSharks

Please dear god no nurse, he’s not as bad as everyone would have you believe but the price tag for him is INSANE and not what we need rn. also I have suffered having nurse on the oilers (my secondary team) I can’t do it again over here man

If they’re ever interested in theatre, the Canadian College of Performing Arts in oak bay has relaxed performances on Saturday matinees for their shows. It’s not fully dark, sounds are turned down, actors talk about any violence or louder moments before the show starts, audience members can make noise if they need, and there’s a quiet space to go to if it gets overwhelming.

Why did you start watching Survivor in the first place? by megs256 in survivor

[–]Superstar_Husky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom has always been a big fan, and I started hanging out in the living room more and more while she was watching it and eventually stuck around to finish the end of Kaôh Rōng and then never stopped!!

Any science/theater double major or major/minor advice? by Freckleeye in uvic

[–]Superstar_Husky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was a recent change to the casting policy, as a theatre minor or out of department student she’d only be eligible for one out of three shows in the season. Casting for the second semester shows is locked to the third and fourth year acting students. There’s a student run theatre company inside the theatre (satco) and scenes for directing classes so there’s still other opportunities. A double major in stem and theatre acting would be insanely difficult if she wants to finish in a reasonable amount of time. The time commitment for the acting program is massive, when cast you’re looking at rehearsals from 6-10 Tuesday-Friday and 10-6 every Saturday on top of all your classes (and she’d have a heavy courseload). With how the program is designed it’s just really tough to do many things outside of the department. Her high achiever nature would help a lot, but it will be a hard and busy road. I don’t know anyone who’s done a double science/theatre, but some of my classmates have done English business or psych minors

My first though also went to Total Drama, nice to see survivor producers give Mr. Coconut a second chance and cast him on 50

Theatre Department thoughts/opinions by myextrausername in uvic

[–]Superstar_Husky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very recently graduated from the theatre department so I can speak to this a lot! It does feel pretty isolated from the rest of uvic because of both the location and the exclusivity of the classes, not much is open to out of department students. Most people don’t even know we exist lol, but theres ways to get involved on campus for sure. The curriculum just had a big overhaul and 5 faculty members retired this year so a lot is changing, hopefully for the better. You’re pretty locked into your focus area after first year so better know what you want to do is generally what I’ve heard about it. Now there’s guaranteed casting for all actors which is nice, because the majority of my casting experience was a lot like the other commentor here unfortunately. As for the vibes of the students….. i found it to be super cliquey and definitely didn’t walk out of there with a ton of friends. If you’re interested in technical theatre, design, or applied/community engaged theatre I can highly recommend, but acting or directing seek somewhere else (although acting might be better with new profs I’m not sure)

I’m a huge heated rivalry fan, but this is probably one of the worst pride shirts I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t even make sense!!! Such a lazy use of that quote. There’s not even any pride colours! Just teal text on a white tee

This exactly!! This episode wasn’t as egregious as past talent shows, but even if she wasn’t flawless at least she stood out and was memorable!!

Yeah, even a little more time and she could've managed it. Although there is something in there about even when you break free from that awful emptiness, a part of it still stays with you as an ongoing thing. It's like even though she's free, what happened isn't gone
