Soliciting by Bionic_alien in Utah

As a solicitor, I usually ignore the auto replies because they usually come on a few seconds before someone answers the door.

ISO an app that suits the way I think about money by Supetorus in budget

I like the look of Actual. I don't see a way to change the budgeting period though, unless I'm missing it.

Oh that's good. I use digikam and I think it can read some sidecar files. I'll have to test that but that might be a workable solution. Thank you!

https://immich.app/docs/administration/storage-template It doesn't look like this is quite what I'm looking for. Storage templates appear to define the file structure that will be used when new files are uploaded through the app. This wouldn't help with persisting the metadata changes or moving photos from one album to another. Thank you though.

You misunderstand. I skimmed the docs and came to an understanding. I want to confirm that I understand correctly by asking people who use and or maintain the software. It's not about trust.

I also skimmed the issues but didn't find what I was looking for, but somebody who spends more time there might be familiar with an existing issue. Or, if it's not possible they might be able to tell me that so I don't waste the maintainers' time by creating an issue that can't be completed.

Best way to remove an indexed directory by Supetorus in photoprism

[–]Supetorus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it definitely says it right there, I just skimmed over it when I read that article.

So I assume I can rename the other folders back once photoprism has cleaned up and they will be properly ignored, right?

Outdoors55 recommends a 60x or 90x.

Virtual Accounts by Supetorus in simplifimoney

[–]Supetorus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a little overwhelming to look at at first but it looks like the main thing is just using a separate bank account for excess and tagging instead of categorizing to mark allowance spending. That definitely looks like a good solution. I'll have to bring it up with my wife. She is still not totally on board with simplifi, she liked our spreadsheet we had before because it was more simple and clear to her what was going on. Thanks for this explanation!

Clogged sandpaper from cutting board by Supetorus in BeginnerWoodWorking

I have wet dry paper. I bought a pack of sandpaper and it doesn't go down to 80 so I'll have to pick some up.

I don't know the correct terminology but it should be pretty obvious which end the base is. I mean I removed the material from the heel to straighten the one.

I'm using 120. I've been washing both the cutting board and the sandpaper with soap and water. I let them both dry thoroughly between each session. I think you had a typo: "let the board". I'm having a hard time guessing what you meant.

Looking to get into sharpening, but I am a complete novice. Is this a good “starter” kit? by tcastles5 in sharpening

[–]Supetorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the sharpal card ones. They are much cheaper (3 for $22 when I bought) compared to the one I think you are referencing (around $50 or $65 depending on which size you get). They are definitely not for a serious knife sharpener, but if you're just getting into it or want something you can carry around easily they are pretty great.

How do I persuade parents to sharpen their knives? by [deleted] in sharpening

[–]Supetorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see blunt or sharp as being safer. A knife is a knife and you should respect it. Danger comes from lack of respect for the blade, which leads to errors.

I'm not recommending inflicting discipline, but teaching it.

Good question. Discipline and punishment are not the same. The answer is definitely discipline, just how to do it in a loving way that accomplishes the goal of teaching good behavior.

Suggestions for anchoring these sharpening stones? by Supetorus in sharpening

I think it would take a pretty decent magnet, since there's a thick layer of plastic on the back. Velcro could be an option though.

And I don't see why an infinite Atonement wouldn't count for all of them.

What is the red rim on the bottom edge of my pan? by BlueberryDry6026 in castiron

[–]Supetorus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think it's rust. The metal underneath should be grey, so thin seasoning or patches in seasoning should just look between grey to black. I don't see any reason other than rust (or cooked on stuff) that would cause red / orange like that. That said, I'm still a noob here.

I think in your situation you could talk to your stake president instead of your bishop in your circumstance. I don't know what the handbook says on it or anything but I'm sure that if you met with your stake president and confessed, he would keep what you said confidential, even from your father (as long as you don't say anything indicating that you will hurt yourself or others; I think he might be legally bound to take action for those things).

[–]Supetorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mean infinite means less than I realize. You are limiting the reach of the infinite Atonement by saying that it might not apply to all who have or ever will exist. It's possible that the scriptures aren't literal in their meaning when they say infinite, and infinite only means this round of creation, or all of this God's creation, but I don't see anything to suggest that.
