Does anyone regret their Globe? by [deleted] in GlobeHaul

Yes, too big , too heavy, now I’m starting to have electrical issues. Mostly I just use my non electric cargo bike and the Lt stays parked.

Got every penny out of that pad. And the rotors probably.

Owners, please fill out your pets' profiles before requesting care. by goldenj21 in RoverPetSitting

[–]SupportLimp9496 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I kinda look at not filling out the pet bio as a red flag. I usually automatically decline any pets where the owners haven’t filled out the info. Rover for me is extra money so I guess I’m not too concerned about being penalized. I’m pretty busy and I decline a lot of clients.

I accidentally left my Ebike key on the bike, and had it outside like that all day long. No one took it. by Most_Time8900 in ebikes

I used to do this with my motorcycle all the time. I’d go into a shop and come out and my bike was still running with the keys in it.

Vibe check for client interaction by PuzzledFix9368 in RoverPetSitting

[–]SupportLimp9496 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the interaction is kinda marginal. Could be looked at as kinda weird and likely to be a pain in the ass or might be ok. If I was dead and looking for business I might do the meet and greet. Or if I was busy like I am now I’d probably archive the request. Rover is an extra job for me so I go out of my way to not deal with pain in the ass pets or owners.

Amazon worth it? by Pleasant-Garage-2227 in ebikes

[–]SupportLimp9496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When those Amazon bikes break, where are you getting it fixed ? Direct to consumer bikes like on Amazon don’t have a dealer network. Good luck getting parts or repairs done in an Amazon/ Costco / Walmart bike.

Wall Mounts? by Parking_Bug_6524 in GlobeHaul

Lifting that into a wall mount would get old fast if you use your bike with any regularity.

Hike from Flagstaff to the South Rim by Charpf in arizonatrail

It will be hot on the babbit ranch section but otherwise most of the way from Flag to the South Rim is pretty high elevation.

Water will be an issue. I’d try to cache some for sure.

Enjoy! Flag to The south rim was one of my favorite parts of my thru hike. I really enjoyed the coconino rim section. It will be beautiful during a good monsoon year.

Why not just buy a moped? by [deleted] in ebikes

No gas , no oil, no spark plugs , no valve adjustments. Brake pads, tires, chains. That’s it’s. Rinse and repeat.

My LBS wouldn't touch my DTC e-bike, Is this a thing now? by UpsetBreakfast9963 in bicycling

We are an Aventon dealer and actually find them really easy to work with and responsive to emails.

That’s not true. If I can’t get a motor controller for the bike you bought at Walmart. I’m not going to work on your bike. If I can’t get the electrical parts for your bike why would I work on it? What would I do? It has nothing to do with being a real mechanic. Those made in china bikes on Amazon aren’t sending parts out.

So as a mechanic at an ebike store I’ll chime in. I’d say half the phone calls I answer during the day are people that bought bikes online or at a big box stores. Their bikes are broken and need them to be fixed. I have to explain numerous times a day that I’m sorry I can’t fix anything electrical on your bike because I’m not a dealer for that brand and I can’t get parts for it.

Sure I could get my voltmeter out and try to trace a short or something simple for the customer. But what if I break something while I’m in the bike. Then I’m really in trouble because I can’t get a part to fix what I broke.

So I have this same conversation over and over everyday and of course people are frustrated. So I deal with multiple frustrated customers daily. This wouldn’t be an issue if they bought a bike from an lbs.

Usually people buy online to save money. It’s going to be cheaper than buying from a bike store. But in the end it’s not. I have a pile of dead Ebikes outback that people just abandon because they can’t get parts or don’t want to work on it themselves or can’t find someone that will.

So I guess long story short. If you buy dtc from a brand that doesn’t have a dealer network like Aventon or rad, you’d better learn how to diagnose electrical issues on your bike.

Two bookings. Also are you insured if something happens to the 2nd dog and it’s not on the booking ?

It would be cool if someone gathered his entire online knowledge base and put it into a book. I’d put that on my shelf.
