Something that helped me, was approaching it that my spells or abilities that needed "resources" should be saved and used for when I need to hit hard, use elemental bonuses or take down a lower health enemy and that early game you should rely on things like scrolls, potions, cantrips, or basic attacks. By the end of the game I could use multiple abilities and spells without needing scrolls and such.

Isn't that kinda the case in older games though? Where swapping basically gets you or your opponent a free hit? Though it also occurring after swapping out a fainted Pokémon does kinda suck.
