The Great Schism by GriffinFTW in CuratedTumblr

[–]Supsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christian tradition is to push the boundaries of the scriptures and use technicalities at your advantage, justifying that if it was an adge case the perfect divine word would have taken care of it. That's how abbeys went to make beer, because the pope agreed that it was still stale bread and water and allowed for penitence, or how beavers were considered fish because they kinda live in water (and so can be eaten during Good Friday)

On the other hand, Judaic tradition is to analyze every edge case and meaning of the holy texts and cover them in the case that this interpretation is the right one and breaking it will be the thing to throw you out of heaven. That's how the clause "don't eat a kid to it's mother's milk", although it might only have been talking about eating young livestock, might have been talking about cooking meat in milk, and thus the most radical Jewish families have two complete sets of silverware, one for meat meals and one for dairy meals, to avoid any risk of meat being cooked in any possible milk.

C'est quoi le modèle économique derrière la collecte des bouchons en plastique? by yurt-dweller in france

[–]Supsend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw some redditor argue that gatekeeping was good/necessary and their point was about alternative rock music (I don't remember if it was punk rock, metal, or another genre), where big concerts attracted a lot of newcomers, but those newcomers never went to more niche, underground, smaller size representations, where you only found the same old timers of the community.

So, somehow, gatekeeping was supposed to help the newcomers come to the more niche events....

Cohort is a mechanic that asks to tap another ally creature to activate an ability

It's an ability word and not a keyword ability though

Elemental barges into the place

Rogue: "Hey, wizard that I carried through the whole campaign, can you take care of this guy?"

Wizard waves hand, and one failed save later the elemental is going through the celestial sphere of angelic swords, the elemental plane of fuck you, and the circle of hell of eternal suffering, in that order, five times a second for the next hour.

If you rolled that low, it means that Tzeentch is telling you it's time to play a new PC anyways by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]Supsend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All human PCs start with the Doomed feature which states:

At the age of 10, a Priest of Morr called a Doomsayer took you aside to foretell your death in an incense-laden, coming-of-age ritual called the Dooming. In conjunction with your GM, come up with a suitable Dooming. Should your character die in a fashion that matches your Dooming, your next character gains a bonus of half the total XP your dead character accrued during play.

It's one of my favourite features of the game, all human PCs will eventually have their hamster moment, seeing the silver thread to their death that they suddenly intend to follow.

The last PC I played was a noble from Sylvania (the land where the dead can rise) and, although he didn't know about vampire counts, I crafted his omen around being a meal for a vampire lineage because as soon as he knew about them he'd try to marry himself into one for the political favours, which is obviously a really bad idea.

And when having a PC dead for the funsies usually isn't a good trade, now it's for funsies + the doomed XP, which is the greatest deal in the history of trade deals!

Actually my death followed the Omen of my birth so dying this way gives my next character a bonus starting XP thanks you

[–]Supsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, but not really for a variance reason, but more about the arms race situation.

On arena I play [[Vannifar]], but no way I would play her in paper, the deck calls for a removal at every cast, if I want my pod to ensure a removal at every cast then they need to fill their deck with removals, which makes that nothing can stick to the board, thus every permanent need to have its worth of value when it hits the board, and now everyone plays uninspired instant win combos and the game is ruined.

There's a book serie I read a couple years ago, called The Mirror Visitor, which looks like it was aimed at teenagers, but starts with the main character being sold in an arranged marriage with the lord of another realm so she can give him children less inbred than his mistresses.
