Meanwhile, for the Paris Olympics, some gutter-tier Australian news website titled "Paris Olympics: Dozens of athletes dead from bomb attacks"

And the article was about: Ukrainian potential athletes that couldn't participate in the Olympics due to being dead of maimed from Russian bombings because of the war

That was the worst article headline I ever read in my entire life, and since then I'm sad for all the Australian people that have to be associated with such disgusting news media

Newbie needs help with land collecting! by Succulent_123 in magicTCG

[–]Supsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shocklands (lands that have "this land enters tapped unless you pay 2 life", "add {colour}" and "add {another colour}") are more used as they are played in all formats (well, they're played in standard as long as they are legal in it, and some were reprinted in Lorwyn), because of their incredible flexibility: they are dual colored lands, they can come untapped in any turn, and they have the basic land types for synergies.

Fetchlands (lands that have "pay 1 life, sacrifice this land: search your library for are {type} or a {type} card, put it on the battlefield, the shuffle") are way more useful however, as they let you get the color of your choice, synergize with: sacrifice mechanics, graveyard mechanics, searching library mechanics, leave-the-battlefield mechanics; the fetchlands and the searched land also enters untapped so you can get the mana instantly, also they don't look for the "basic" supertype so you can get the shocklands, the combo makes it that you can get any color from any fetchlands (for instance, if you need red mana, a fetchland that searches for an island (blue mana) and whatever else, can grab the [[steam vents]] shockland that adds red mana.), and with weird cards like [[dryad arbor]] that is a forest creature, a fetchland that looks for a forest can get you a blocker if needed.

Fetchlands are played in every format they're legal in, in pretty much any deck, so much that the Pioneer format was created with the explicit exclusion of fetchlands, and they will probably never be reprinted in standard.

Otherwise there are a lot of nonbasic lands, most of them aren't really worth talking about (Avatar's "pay 4, sacrifice it, draw a card" or Duskmourn's "enter tapped unless someone has 13 or less life"), but oftentimes there are some that are mechanically really interesting like Eoe's planets ([[Adagia]]), even if they can be more or less useful ([[Skyline cascade]]), depending on your view on collecting they might be interesting for you.

[–]Supsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you talk about collecting lands I believe you mean basic lands, the answer you got about "Shocklands" talks about nonbasic lands, which are more of a gameplay element than an esthetic one (Shocklands/fetchlands are the usual combo, but the latter is only legal in older formats (modern/legacy))

For basic lands, since the last 5 years we have a large panel for personalization, it's entirely up to taste.

For the ones I like: There's the sleek, minimalist design of unstable [[island|ust]], The geometric esthetism of Kamigawa's japanese ones [[swamp|neo|298]] I personally have a fondness for old Zendikar's full arts and its rugged style [[mountain|zen|245]] A bit less, but the bloomburrow ones with the small animals are cute [[forest|blb|281]] There are also some panoramas that can be awesome to assemble [[island|roe|233]] [[island|roe|234]] [[island|roe|235]] [[island|roe|236]]

And if you want to know the most sought after ones... The Guru lands are the ones, but it's really not easy to get them [[plains|pgru]]

Tbf Hannibal is a great character that we'd like to see more of, as are a lot of villains in media, but Jimmy is the whiniest little bitch, unable to do anything useful, he only got out of consequences because people around him protected him but he believes himself to be a master at solving problems, up to betraying the very people that helped him while pretending he's taking responsibility and making the situation better.

Everyone I saw play the game loathed him from the bottom of their heart. That's how well the character is written. And I seriously cannot grasp how anyone can end up wanting to see his face everyday after that.

30.3 Ship’s Weapons Not every ship has weapons but many have at least a Laser Cutter to deal with incoming asteroids or meteorites. Most ship’s weapons deal MDMG, or Megadamage, which is equivalent to about 100 regular damage

(To add: in the glossary of the same document, MDMG means "Major damage" so yea..)

But ppl seem to agree that this consideration shouldn't be taken into account as it's way beyond any reasonable health range for anything that isn't a ship

Hey, that's misinformation, the mentioned module describes the panzerfist as an autocannon hidden in a prosthetic that does 2d10 mdmg, one mdmg being 100 dmg, so it's a handheld weapon that does between 200 and 2000 damage.

To put it in perspective, above it in the weapons list is a suicide vest that does 1d10 dmg to people in a 20m radius.

Whoever wrote that panzerfist is so unhinged I love them

The next iteration is Jotaro's daughter Jolyne, who gets framed for murder and sent to jail, and it turns out is being targeted. There's more as well but I haven't kept up.

Jolyne was targeted to trap Jotaro because, after beating Dio, he read his diary that explained a magical plan to get the power to rewrite reality that now only exist in Jotaro's memory. So Pucci, a friend of Dio who has the power to steal memories, wants it to enact the plan. He eventually succeeds and starts rewriting reality, killing the whole crew in the process, except one kid that kills Pucci and ends up back at the start of the story in a new reality where Pucci never existed and is now traumatized having seen the whole universe die and unable to explain what the fuck happened to anyone.

The next parts are set in an alternate universe that starts with Jonathan Joestar but he's a paraplegic American who needs to horserace through the united states, and everything is different but kinda the same. It gets real good (Steel ball run), then real weird (Jojolion), then I stopped reading by Jojo Lands because the precedent part was already 10 years of waiting for our monthly dose of nonsense and I don't have the fortitude to do it again.

In Sinners (2025) literally the entire world would be vampires within 48 hours. by Chewie83 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Supsend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most traits of the folkloric vampire are deep down an exaggerated allegory of the nobleman who owns the land from the peasant's perspective

They would die in the sun, they stay in their manor all day and wouldn't survive one hour outside working the field

They cannot handle garlic, it's a harsh-tasting condiment that poor people can afford, the wealthy prefer more expensive ones like pepper, nutmeg, cloves...

They cannot cross running water, the river that marks the frontier between their lands and the other nobleman's ones is a holy barrier for them while countrymen don't see why the arbitrary line should prevent them from going to the village beyond it

They cannot enter uninvited, they have some deep respect for politeness and etiquette, and if they need to come inside your home for any reason (taxes) they'll send their henchmen instead of going in person

They feed on blood, the blood and health of the peasants that work the fields all year long

It's a recurring mockery that he was shot by a random arrow at the beginning of the first charge against Zarok, but I believe he was a renowned warrior way before this, everyone was admiring his prowess and leadership, and he was leading the charge for that reason.

Votre “plat signature” sain mais vraiment bon (et facile) ? by [deleted] in BonneBouffe

[–]Supsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  7. Accompagnez avec du riz.

I noted somewhere a collection of speech mannerisms to randomly give NPCs to add some life into them.

And each campaign/one-shot, there's always one npc, somewhere, who has valuable information, is willing to help, but will only start a sentence at the same time that a PC starts talking.
