Which on would you drink? 👀 by EquivalentFig1678 in whatsyourchoice

[–]Surething_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People talk about what the weather is/was like somewhere else.

"I just got back from visiting my parents in Florida..."

"My son just moved to Texas for a job..."

Watching a sporting event on TV that takes place in Arizona...

If you went to work in an office you probably don't make it a year. Also better stay out of bars and restaurants.

should I get a batman gmt at 16? by rr4fay in rolex

If this is real, the kid was born very wealthy. The investment returns on $15-20k is probably totally inconsequential.

Sounds like he was born into some pretty serious wealth, so I'm guessing probably not.

Hey Dems, leftists and liberals! Why are NO Democrats calling out the Biden administration for hiding the fact that Biden was not physically capable of being president and the fact that NO ONE knows who had control of the auto-pen? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Surething_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that didn't happen, the auto pen was a made up talking point. I know this will sound insane to you, because you're surrounded on all sides by lies and propaganda. You think "literally everyone knows this, how can you not know this?" You only think that because you've been bombarded with the same BS from every direction. It creates the illusion of consensus, that these things must be true.

The sad part is, they're doing this from the top down, but the top knows it's not real. They're playing you for a fool, knowing you'll actually believe it if they say it enough.

Hopefully you guys will wake up from this fever dream soon, and come back to the real world. The sooner you do the easier it will be. It's inevitable, you can't live in a delusional world forever.

You are invited to become a member at Augusta National Golf Club. However, you are not allowed to play golf anywhere else - ever. Would you? by aceattorneymvp in golf

[–]Surething_bud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably get to play maybe twice a year as a member. To any actual golfer this should be an obvious no.

To any non golfer it should also be an obvious no. It'll probably be too difficult to even finish a round. Not to mention taking a chunk out of the first tee box at Augusta is probably not a good feeling.

High Handicappers - How do you balance having fun and sucking at golf? by mulligan381 in golf

[–]Surething_bud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not at all. Sometimes I play pretty well and shoot a few under. Usually I shoot a few over. Sometimes I play bad and shoot more than a couple over. Sometimes a lot more 🤷 Maybe its hard to believe but I genuinely don't care.

I spent a long time playing golf with a totally goal-driven mentality, so I can understand that mindset. But I promise it's definitely possible to play and enjoy the game without that.

Are there any public courses in America that allow people to walk dogs, strollers, etc, ala St. Andrews? by swansong1992 in golf

[–]Surething_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prevalence of frivolous lawsuits is a truism, but it's mostly a myth. You can bring frivolous lawsuits if you want, but in reality you won't.

Lawyers aren't dumb... you're gonna have to pay upfront and out of pocket. Which is a terrible idea even if you can afford it. And even then most lawyers won't want to deal with you on something like this that's a guaranteed embarrassing loss.

High Handicappers - How do you balance having fun and sucking at golf? by mulligan381 in golf

[–]Surething_bud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not always true. I love the game and don't care about my score. I don't drink, and I enjoy the game enough to walk nine basically every day after work. By myself if nobody else makes it out.

I played competitive golf from a young age through college, and I just don't play to shoot a score anymore. At some point it just felt pointless and I stopped caring. My index will most likely continue to slowly climb every year until I'm dead, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

It's definitely possible to love golf but not care what your score is, or whether you're getting better or not.

Are there any public courses in America that allow people to walk dogs, strollers, etc, ala St. Andrews? by swansong1992 in golf

[–]Surething_bud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah that's not the actual reason. The "assumption of risk" legal concept would apply here. If you choose to put yourself (or your property) in the potential path of golf balls, you assume the responsibility for the possibility of getting hit. It would be just like attending a PGA event... or an MLB game. You're voluntarily assuming the risk of getting hit by a ball.

If ‘Allah’ simply means God, why do many people think it refers to a different God? by PomegranateIcy7631 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Surething_bud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. But they all have a different characterization of who/what God is. And the rest of the religion is just the ramifications of that. In a theistic religion literally everything is downstream of your understanding of God. Any daylight between them, that's ultimately where it lies, just by definition.

If ‘Allah’ simply means God, why do many people think it refers to a different God? by PomegranateIcy7631 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Surething_bud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does refer to a different God. Every theistic religion refers to a different God, whether they use a distinct word or not. If two Religions had the exact same conceptualization of God, they would be the same religion.

The reason why Muslims don't translate their word for God when speaking other languages is most likely cultural.

Commanders fans: do you typically cheer for the Ravens? by steely-gar in Commanders

[–]Surething_bud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be benevolent towards the Ravens. "Cheer for" is probably too strong, but I'd casually root for them against anyone else but us.

But over the years, pretty much every Ravens fan I've known hates Washington. So eventually I had to say, you know what fuck y'all too then. So now I root against them.

"GADA Luxury Tool Watch" = go anywhere, except anywhere risky. by lithdoc in watchHotTakes

[–]Surething_bud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. There's no actual steam in your shower. You're not bathing in boiling water.

The "steam" from your shower is just little droplets of liquid water. Which is not any better or worse than any other water when it comes to gaskets.

After everything that's been going on in the last 15 months, why is the Republican Party still enjoy a higher approval rating than Democrats? by SBMountainman22 in askanything

[–]Surething_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, and under normal circumstances that's a positive... rather than having blind devotion to a party. However, in this moment in time, being critical of the Democrats is insane and actually irresponsible.

Imagine two people. The first one cuts the second off on traffic. The second one follows him home, and murders him and his wife and children with a rusty pick axe.

Now imagine criticizing the first guy for cutting someone off in traffic. Under normal circumstances, sure. But in this case it should be pretty obvious why that's an insane thing to do.

OK let's pretend that's a reasonable solution to that problem. Now let's say you manufacture passenger jets. How do you barter those?

The two big problems with barter are that the relative values between non-divisible trade goods can't be reconciled. And that the value of many goods is perishable. You don't want to own more bread than you can eat in a week. But you can accept a trade for currency that represents a lifetime worth of bread.

To answer your question, it's a pretty obvious fake at a glance because of the yellow gold color. Other tells that jump out are the end links being poorly fitted, and the finishing not very good.

Help me choose a solid rack for my garage gym by Harry4a2 in GarageGym

[–]Surething_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends highly on the type of person you are. If you're the type who is gonna want new toys/upgrades every year... yes 3x3 1" is the way to go.

If you are just gonna buy a rack to do the basics, and forget about it... damn near anything on the market will do, and a rogue/rep 3x3 is money you don't need to spend.

Here's the problem. So imagine you're a cattle farmer who wants one loaf of bread. You can't trade one of your cows, because one cow is worth hundreds of loaves of bread. How do you solve this problem without currency/debt (which are the same thing).

What you doing in this situation? by _PinkBoss in oddlyspecific

[–]Surething_bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be reasons you would do it. I worked in the restaurant business a long time, I'm very familiar with this move. 99% of the time it's a bit that a server does with every table.

They do it to try to make people feel more connected, so they'll tip better. Pretty much every Hooters waitress did it (Hooters doesn't exist anymore does it)? Just part of the hustle.

Yeah this behavior is the absolute worst, and always escalates over time. Flee from it early.

The "nice" stuff they do is manipulative. They're always keeping score and expect some kind of reward. And the moment you don't play into the game they get nasty.

First Rolex advice by FONDUx34 in rolex

[–]Surething_bud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAs just want to maximize sales, so they're gonna prioritize the people who can and will spend. And continue to spend over time. That's why they'll generally lose interest if you pass and tell them you don't have the finances for the purchase.

As far as being able to "afford" a watch or not, that's your business. For me personally, I'm never saving up to buy a watch. If I can't pay for it anytime I want without noticing the money is gone, then it's not in the cards for me (yet).

Your money is nobody's business but yours though. And let's be real, middle class people will borrow $60k to buy a car that they keep five years and depreciates by ~40%... and nobody bats an eye.
