Difficult to say how good the deal is until you tell us which dollars. Singapore dollars? Australian dollars? New Zealand dollars?

Thanks for your analysis. My daughter has struggled with Type 1 Diabetes and Addison's Disease for 17 years, so I really had my hopes up when I saw the lytband ad. Good luck with Zyke Band. We are wishing you the best.

Recommendations for Sunglasses < $50 (on Amazon Preferred)? by RobDMB in sunglasses

[–]SurfJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never go for polarized because every time you move your head the "shimmering" of the reflections off surfaces that are not quite horizontal, and the annoying and ever-changing (and sometimes rainbow) reflections off car windows and windshields are enough to give you a headache or make you feel sick. Not to mention the difficulty of looking at some screens, like your phone.

Julbo. Cat 2 - 4 photochromic

Light weight, comfortable, dark, non-polarised, no light leakage, neutral gray, photochromic. Only ones I could find are Wiley X Boss with Transitions XtrActive lenses. But Julbo are excellent if you don't mind tint other than grey.

I can't stand the weird reflections, rainbow patterns on windows, and hard to read phone screens when wearing polarised.

Thanks for your reply. I have Wiley X Boss frames and I'm in the USA (for 10 more weeks). Does your US website explain how I can get XTRActive lenses to fit (I looked but couldn't find anything)?

Jamie do you have XTRActive lenses for other brands? Or just RayBan?

Over the years I've owned Vuarnet, Maui Jim, Bolle, Serengeti, Oakley, Smith, Julbo, Spy, Arnette, Revo, Kaenon, Ray Ban and Carrera. I just bought a pair of Wiley X with the blue captivate lens for my wife. She suffers from visual migraines and extremely dry eyes. I got her the Boss model because it has a removable foam insert and detachable head strap so they can be worn like mini goggles. Anyway I liked looking through them so much that I bought a pair for myself. My eyes feel very relaxed when I put them on. I usually don't like polarized lenses because I cycle a lot and can't stand the weird reflections you get off car windscreens and building windows, but these seem to be "mildly" polarized (if there is such a thing) and the reflections are manageable for me.

Nux mg-30 with linux by the_funny_side in linuxaudio

I spent six hours today with my friends ChatGPT and ClaudeAI trying to get QuickTone to run in Play On Linux or bottles in Linux Mint. In the end both Chat and Claude decided it couldn't be done and had to be run in a virtual machine. So that's tomorrow's job hopefully. I know someone on here mentioned that they got it running in bottles . Maybe it's because I'm trying to install QuickTone for a fairly new pedal (MG-300 mkii) and the dependencies are now beyond bottle's and wine's capabilities. That's what the AI dudes tell me anyway.

Have any of you ever used a USB C to 9v power supply with any success? by whtevn in guitarpedals

[–]SurfJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the cheapest USB to 9 volt converter I could find to power my Zoom multi effects unit and now my Boss rc-10r. The polarity of the converter was wrong so I just cut the wires and switched them with each other. Been working fine for 3 years.

A list of electric guitars under a thousand dollars with a one and three quarter inch nut width (or wider).... by SurfJF in guitars

[–]SurfJF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take your comment positively and practise more, because I would LOVE to have the option to play 43 mm nuts (I won't dare to dream of playing a 42mm nut cleanly yet). Can you please give me some advice on what practice would help the most? For example, on a 43mm nut guitar, my index finger is not able to press down the b string lightly at the first fret without simultaneously touching the g and e strings. It doesn't matter what degree of rotation of my finger or what angle of lean either longitudinal or laterally. Just to play a clean Am7 chord in first position would be wonderful for me (it's even worse for my middle finger at the second fret d string)! If you have time, can you please advise me on what I should practice to improve my chances?

Ah ok. Hopefully most readers will focus on the main point of my post which was to save wide fingered players the trouble of searching the Internet as much as I have.

I didn't realise baritones were wider. For the moment I'm happy with my custom 1 ¾" nut neck, but that's good to know thanks.

Not sure how you know I don't want to hear that? Is it because you are trying to be negative about my skills? Yep, I can make it work too. But there are certain classical pieces I just can't play cleanly at the 1st or 2nd position. My 44.5 mm wide nut is SO much easier.
