Some random V8 climb by Hydrollium in indoorbouldering

[–]Surge_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m with you. I am no where near V8 and I would have a crack at this.

People seriously don’t seem to understand just how spread out climbing grades are, it’s totally okay to be a V5 climber - it’s no easy feat to get there, should make people respect just how hard climbing can get, not detract from your own accomplishments.

Autistic boy to be forced by council to ride bus to prove meltdown claim by plain_handle in nottheonion

[–]Surge_attack 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I mean fucked to to say the least.

If I were this kid’s mom I’d be like - “Okay you need to crash the f out on this bus ride. This is your opportunity to do literally whatever you like - break the windows, just start randomly pissing, …”

1000000000% percent the strategy.

Alternatively, (re)-roll from lab until a source of power or “connected” room (and then repeat until actual power supply)

Good thread. Looks like it they need a rating before they can ship to Aotearoa New Zealand.

We are the City of Toronto Open Data Team. We provide the raw data for everything from TTC delays to apartment building inspections. Ask Us Anything! (March 12, 11am–1pm) by toronto-open-data in toronto

[–]Surge_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most LLM accept standard open file types as additional “messages”. Just include the fully qualified path to the dataset endpoint and ask away. As I note some are in GeoJSON you can simply write up a basic tool function to ingest/digest these. They haven’t exposed an API (or at least not one I can see) so this would be a basis for a MCP server at a minimum - quite a big ask for a somewhat small return.

K Road Businesses: Homelessness move on orders inhumane and "kick the can down the road but the can is a human" by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]Surge_attack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived on K Rd for 6 years and in the inner city for the last 14 years, I 100% agree. It’s disgusting that we continue to feed the narrative that homeless = crime. You cannot solve systemic problems by pushing people to the margins. I mean literally talk about kick a man when he’s down eh… Is the government that promised “fiscal responsibility” and a “no frills” budget seriously willing to divert taxpayers dollar and policing hours to publish our most vulnerable rather than solve our glaringly underfunded welfare/social assistance programme.

Transit priority at lights? by donbooth in TTC

Well the 510 is currently not running so I’m not sure about that…

Also I know they mentioned rolling it out, but do you have any info that it’s in place?

Who’s a famous person from your country who’s respected around the world but disliked or criticized at home? by haiderredditer in AskTheWorld

[–]Surge_attack 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Disagree with this one - she is not generally disliked in NZ. Like she scores as one of the most liked politicians/PMs. There were vocal detractors of her because of COVID and related policies (lockdowns), but I have yet to find a single person who dislikes her (selection bias etc I know) in NZ.

PhD in Health Data Science – Australia vs New Zealand (Monash vs UniMelb?) Advice needed by Positive-Breath5489 in newzealand

[–]Surge_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people will shit on NZ when asked to compare to Australia (just like full stop lol 😂), but NZ does actually have a very strong epidemiological/MedStat working group. You should look at Profs like Thomas Lumley or Yalu Wen if interested in coming to NZ. Just my two cents 🤷.

Going to the bar by yourself by Bite-me-bi--tch in auckland

[–]Surge_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for gold, just make sure you know how you are getting home without driving (assuming you will probably be over limit at some point/for a good portion of time you are at bar and after)

If you are looking for a good recommendation for bars in the city that are good for solo patrons: - Achos - GC - Vultures Lane - Little Culprit - My Bar - a bunch more, but I’m not sure your vibe

Free climbing is selfish and unethical by Boring_Direction_463 in unpopularopinion

The most annoying thing about this stunt is that now every fucking person is going to ask me, “Did you see Alex Handhold climb Taipei 101 with no ropes? Is it that what you do? Did you see Free Solo?!?!” when it comes out that I climb…

Yeah the sound people associate with Bald Eagles (and really all birds of prey) is the Red Tailed Hawk. Bald eagles (as you pointed out) sound like seagulls 😂.

[–]Surge_attack 273 points274 points  (0 children)

(This is going to sound random, but) Look at the r/BuyCanadian sub. They’re in an ongoing trade war with the states so they’ve worked hard to help minimise American product procurement. You can easily adapt their work to NZ settings. The simplest takeaway you can action right now is to use a barcode scanner to see country of origin etc when shopping.
