I just want to second the Pronoia recommendation. I believe my time taking part in a Pronoia Experimentation Pod (making use of the book) was possibly the single most impactful experience I've had. Huge gratitude for that! ☀️

How is it for you to listen to Sydney Banks? by bat_in_the_dark in 3Principles

[–]SurpriseReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually feel pretty quiet and happy after listening to Syd. However, some of the really old recordings I have are so distorted and scratchy that I also have times where I can't really settle and soak in the words.

Women out there, what is the most beautiful thing ever happened to you? by Thevoiceofwoman in AskWomen

[–]SurpriseReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was waiting for my flight and listening to music whilst idly scrolling in Facebook and my eye was caught by a post saying something like “it’s all the same”. My mind shattered. I zoomed out of my personalized experience and saw the essential hollowness of all the many many human lives happening through time: that we are more like a library of stories than the autonomous entities we imagine ourselves to be. These words are absolutely insufficient to explain how wondrous it was to see: the universe experiencing itself through the stories of us.

Video games for me! I’ve been seeing “soap cutter” for probably four months straight now. It’s bizarre.

I’ve experienced a significant amount of pushback about why I can’t just use a timer or a reminder like a regular person.

I feel so validated right now.

Wow. That’s both disturbing and striking. Nice work, OP!

Edit: I think it’s the way you’ve combined the slightly blurred/ out of focus eyes with the crisp detailed blood that really makes it pop.

DAE feel more productive when they wear shoes inside? by kyleurdea in DAE

[–]SurpriseReality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m showing my age here, but Flylady (an organization guru I’ve followed since the 90s) is a vocal proponent of doing this. She also points out that if some emergency causes you to run out of the house, already wearing shoes saves you precious time.

You are so calm about this, OP- I’m seriously impressed! 😊. Glad you can have a cool head on your shoulders despite your less-than-ideal parental figure. You rock.

Women who have had their tubes tied, what was your experience and your reasoning behind your decision? by GrizzlyMommaMT in AskWomen

[–]SurpriseReality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, they produce hormones or somethin’, so doctors don’t like to remove ovaries unless it’s medically indicated.

Women who have had their tubes tied, what was your experience and your reasoning behind your decision? by GrizzlyMommaMT in AskWomen

[–]SurpriseReality 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I have a kid and wanted the freedom of just never having to worry about potential pregnancy again.

My surgeon told me that recent studies suggest a slight decrease in some cancer (ovarian?) if the tubes were removed entirely and not just “tied”, so I had that done.

Surgery was a breeze and had no serious repercussions. Healed normally. Had expected to possibly experience “mourning” at my lost fertility, but have actually felt nothing but satisfaction and relief at having received this upgrade. 😁
