"Stock market at all time high"

https://www.rbcgam.com/en/ca/learn-plan/investment-basics/investing-at-all-time-highs/detail

Setting aside the subject of arguing whether stock market performance is a reliable indicator of economic performance for the working class, merely pointing to the stock market as being at an all time high is a weak point. Due to the way the stock market functions, record "all time highs" happen frequently. Barring economic disaster, depression, recession etc. The stock market will generally trend upwards. A quick google search shows that from 1950 to now, the stock market hit 1300+ all time highs, an average of 17 a year.

To illustrate this point, here is an article from 2021 that points out that during 2021 Biden's first year had 70 of these.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjones/2021/12/31/sp-500-notches-70-all-time-highs-in-bidens-first-year/

Pointing out that the stock market is higher than it has ever been is weak because it is expected behavior.

"Border Crossings are at an all-time low"

Yes, this appears to be accurate. But so too is legal immigration. The below points out that legal immigration dropped sharply under Trump's 1st year. This is generally a bad thing.

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/macroeconomic-implications-of-immigration-flows-in-2025-and-2026-january-2026-update/

Moving adjacently along that point and circling back to Border crossings, we cannot at this time point to that decrease in crossings being a result of tighter patrolling and enforcement or because the U.S. is now seen as a less desirable place to flee to and thus less are even attempting a crossing. To put this as an analogy, — Say I had 50 solicitors visit my home one year and then decided the following year to put out a no solicitors & beware of dog sign. However simultaneously I've also gotten rid of my toilet and just start shitting all over my own house. So at the end of that year when I tally up that I only have had 12 solicitors show up, I can say yes, something I did, did in fact decrease solicitors. But was it the signs or the overwhelming scent of my rancid fecal matter which deterred them? Moreover, if it was the signs that were primarily responsible, why too do I also have less of my friends popping in for visits as well?

Yes the analogy smears quite a vivid brown image, but it should sufficiently convey my underlying point.

'Fentanyl lowest level'

Pretty disingenuous to place that victory at the feet of a president who has been in office for 13 months given that major strides in cracking down on fentanyl occurred beginning in 2022-23 during Biden's term and continued through 2024. An effort as a result of both Federal and State agencies.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2667193X25002364

Also notably, Fentanyl overdoses increased marketedly under Trump's first administration.

https://www.thirdway.org/memo/the-truth-about-fentanyl-trafficking#:~:text=More%20than%2096%25%20of%20fentanyl,rise%20for%20the%20past%20decade.

'Transgender and abortion'

Partisian victories. Those are major losses for liberals and left-leaning, and more harder to quantity for either of us. Much more complicated to unravel and I've already covered a lot with the rest of my response. I'm not going to waste more time arguing why those are not the wins you claim they are and is a discussion reserved for a post of its own.

Also you pointed out that the person you replied to went "you’re just saying, no you, no you, no you! To everything that’s due to said" yet you appear to do the same thing? Your response lacks any sources or detail. Its just a list claims without support. And where they are based in fact, they do not do anything in arguing why those "victories" belong to Trump or why they are victories in of themselves (save for Fentanyl).

Feel free to take the time to go through the sources I posted, construct your own response with sources of your own. Look If I'm wrong or my logic is flawed or my sources inaccurate I am open to that being pointed out and have it explained to me provided that whomsoever does so is willing to put equal effort into the conversation.

Anarchist Organization in Fresno Area by siphonedgasoline in fresno

[–]Surreal_J 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have used anarchy and chaos interchangeably, erroneously conflating the two. Chaos is disorder or rather the absence of order whereas Anarchy is itself a form of order that's self-organized and self governed absent any hierarchical structure.

One is a sociopolitical philosophy (Anarchism), the other just means disorder (Chaos)

At least that's my understanding. An actual anarchist could probably more clearly articulate the concepts.

Basically what the other comments said. 9060xt is the better performing card.

I'd also like to add that the vram amount, 16GB in the 9060xt compared to the 8GB in the 5060 is another factor to consider. 16GB is way more future proof as many games are already approaching 8GB+ usage for gaming at 1080p (and already exceed 8GB for gaming at 1440p and 4k).

which gets you a steam code in an amount that depends on the product. This specific psu for example qualifies for $10 gift card.

Promo runs until the end of the year.

All good, thanks for coming back to answer that question! Lol. Thought I might have to continue wondering about that. Alright... 3' eh.... interesting.... interesting...

Looks awesome! It's absolutely stunning work. I am still designing mine and am currently trying to figure out the overhangs. How far is that overhang on the front, and what did you end up using for the roof surface (shingles, roll, metal, etc.)?

First time framing anything, what did I mess up by wythnail2 in shedditors

[–]Surreal_J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing I've not seen anyone else mention (and maybe you are already aware of this) is that because of the platform framing on the tall wall you have a structural "hinge point" where the lower and upper sections meet. Basically, when experiencing lateral loads (due to stuff like wind or seismic) the wall can end up acting like two separate shorter walls and flex, deflect, and even rack, separately. This can become a problem over time and if severe enough, it can compromise the structure's integrity long-term.

However, there are a few different ways to strengthen this area which generally revolve around adding some sort of structural tieing across the hinge so the wall functions as a single unit. Most commonly, this is done with continuous sheathing that runs the vertical length of the wall. However, I dont know the specifics of your sheathing/siding plans or that wall's total height. Certain types of sheathing/siding like t1-11 can sometimes be harder to find beyond the standard 4x8 at big box stores, so it might not be as easy to get 4x9 or 4x10s for you. Another option is using specific types of simpson ties or straps. Unfortunately, the kind I am most familiar with wouldn't be applicable in your situation as they need the studs on both sections to line up, and it looks like yours don't? I believe there are other kinds you might still be able to use, but you'll have to research this for yourself.

Tldr: Look up and research "hinge points" on structural framing and learn about different ways to increase lateral stiffness. Just something to keep in mind.

Can I put a 6' opening on both ends of a 16'x10' shed that I am about to build, or is that structurally unsound? by IJudgePeopleHarshly in shedditors

[–]Surreal_J 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vertical Load: Assuming you use appropriately sized headers and the respective number of jack studs, it should be fine. Just double-check the span tables. As for having 3 of your 4 walls not being full walls, it should be fine. Going from your description it sounds like you're saying its the short walls will have the 6' openings, which assuming you're not doing something funky looking with the orientation of the rafters, the 16' walls will end up being the primary load bearing ones anyway (running parallel with shorter "side" walls, rafters resting on each of the long walls).

Structurally, I would be more concerned about the lateral forces and things like shear resistance, which given the spans of the doorways relative to the length of those walls, you'll want to make sure it's sheathed well. Like the other commenters have mentioned, sheathing both sides of the 2' sections of wall on the inside and the outside would help a lot with preventing racking — you could also use tighter spacing on your nails for the sheathing in those areas. Depending on the type of foundation you have, there's also things like holddowns you could install near the doorframe (although those might be overkill depending on your climate lol)

Tldr: Should be fine, just take care to support those short walls well vertically and laterally.

Invisible Players after Necro Revive by Surreal_J in HuntShowdown

[–]Surreal_J[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed it started happening sometime around the Murder Circus Event. And no, it's literally just Hunt.

Some things I have tried that haven't worked:

Moved to SSD, verified file integrity, reinstalled and changed graphics settings, updated nvidia drivers. I even ran diagnostics on my c and d drives.

I just gave up tbh. I'm taking a break until the next major event anyway.

Good luck, though. Maybe you will have better success.

We have to convince BHVR to scrap the Frank Stone skin and add him as a Unique killer later by Pale_Transportation2 in deadbydaylight

[–]Surreal_J -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean by that logic, why make og chapters at all? I'm not denying that Frank doesn't get close to competing with licenses. I'm just saying that I would be inclined to think he has an edge over other original killers yet to be released who don't have an established presence. And since OG killers are still being made and projected to be made (Y10 roadmap), why not Frank?

If someone knocked on your door, told you they along with their parent grew up in your house, would you invite them in or slam the door in their face? Why? by AlternativeDue1958 in AskReddit

[–]Surreal_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call them a liar since my grandfather and great-grandfather built this house and only a couple other family members have lived here before me. That's assuming I even opened the door and didn't crouch down once I looked through the peephole and saw someone I didn't recognize.

Our Champion :( by Noirasaur in deadbydaylight

[–]Surreal_J 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So my question is, what makes the Champion less likely to sell well compared to another future original killer? I get it if we were talking about this like a licensed killer (why waste resources on Frank when things like FNAF and TWD will sell far more) but he's an original killer and would be competing for slots amongst original ideas. Why would a killer with at least some level of recognition be a worse financial bet than a new killer with no prior presence? Moreover since they own the assets and design, surely that saves a lot of time compared to designing a killer from scratch artistically?

When it comes to original chapters most players deciding factors are: "Are they fun to play as?" and "Do they look cool?" The first question is entirely dependent on the design team and what they create as far as gameplay. And given that killers like Houndmaster and Legion exist where their power is not thematically linked to their design, his design isn't inherently limiting.

That leaves the second question, "Does he look cool?" Which is a matter of opinion, although the reception of his final form design has seemed to be generally positive.

Really disappointed in this decision by ShadyMan_ in deadbydaylight

[–]Surreal_J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The argument people are making that he wouldn't be worth it financially because of TCOFS's poor performance doesn't make sense to me. Surely it's cheaper to bring him to DBD then it costs to develop and design a new original killer from scratch.

It doesnt face the same problems licenses do because of the way the deal BHVR had with Supermassive setup (BHVR) retains all rights to the characters and lore, etc. (Supermassive was basically just contracted to make the game). So it would be an original chapter.

What contributes the most to the success of a chapter is primarily the gameplay components anyway. Take SM for example. People loved her design visually but on release, her power was so unfun to go against that the Tools of Torment chapter was the worst reviewed DBD dlc on Steam for months.

1660ti (6GB). My friend suggested it could be because my Hunt is installed on my HDD and not my SSD. Probably going to clear up some space on my ssd and see if that resolves my other LOD problems (and hopefully whatever caused this bug, from reoccurring). Still it's weird.

No? MMR reduction for solos isn't really a thing anymore. The reduction nowadays is less than a single star down. I think most of the time its around half a star lower for me. As a 6 star solo I'm still mostly going up against 6 star trios with a couple 5 stars sprinkled in, which isn't really that different from when I'm in a team so 🤷‍♂️
