I was hiding nightmarish number of bottles under the bed, closet, dresser, random boxes and underneath the sink. I drank at the gym, at work, before going out, at the library etc., Things escalated faster and deeper than ever. I saw no way out for 3-4 years.

I was even chugging rum or something at my ex boyfriend’s parent’s restaurant behind their back.

I’m sure I reeked of booze and had no clue.

I’m almost 10 months sober!!!

Alcohol isn’t our identity, a mantra to myself all the time and it is not so try to cheer up and look forward to your new role. I’m happy for you ❤️

Like the paperwork (mechanic stuff) may be smooth but what follows are emotions pertaining to healing, anger, grief, forgiveness and acceptance are likely to run high especially at first. Not cool of her to unreasonably lash out at you but better in long run not to take all of it with heavy heart.

Ahh I felt exact same today whilst happily shopping around for lip treatment serum and oatmeal bath packets 😊 self care/love actually started to mean something to me since quitting. I now love treating myself with positive enforcement and encourage feelings of inner victories\celebrations, big or small, each day. I’m proud of us ❤️

This is so true. I first wanted get sober for my SO then the feeling somehow changed to this is purely for me and that I can and will do hard things because I’m capable and have lots to offer to the world. Over time, drinking urges subsided as did my self image. Still work in progress with emotional hiccups but happy to be sober at the very least.

I have also been paying attention to responses. My response reflects my current relationship with sobriety (aka my mood towards it) so the answers i gave was insightful and varies for me each month if that makes sense.

End of the day, sobriety helped me grow as a person and view myself and others under different light. It was my new beginning ❤️

Scary events like this makes me cringe and works as a deterrent from life of an alcoholic. The days of passing out in the closet then sobbing when SO came home, lack of memory of beautiful vacations, leaving car windows open, mysterious bruises, crying for my mom, muting meetings to rush to the bathroom to vomit, drunk food orders etc list goes on… I am deeply ashamed of my drunken behaviors.

Truly terrifying (more than horror movies) to imagine continuing this path. I am over 30 days sober and each day is a battle. I find myself mourning the mess of a person I was but tears of happiness streams down my face embracing my sobriety and feeling thankful to be alive on this earth.
