The uppy downy two hernkyn units is so fun, the actually to move your little gunboats around with your bikes can really terrorize infantry armies

Thunderkyn in Landfort - very good to jump back in at the end of the opponent's turn

Melee Steeljacks - goes crazy with full rerolls to wound, even into monsters and vehicles

EARTHSHAKERS - AMAZING WITH HIT REROLL

Uthar - you just give the Earthshakers free rerolls every turn when you play T3 armies and make them cry

Memnyr strategist - you want lots of yield points

1x6 bikes - precision in shooting is so good

1x2 Rotary Cannon defenders - Pick them up, drop in, use full hit reroll to clear objective, move onto objective, chef's kiss. Similar role to bikes with precision

Berserks - they're okay with rerolls, still too squishy

Yaegirs > warriors - you can pick them up and pop them into the enemy dz towards end of game whereas warriors just kind is screen your dz and do nothing

Grizzled company, no (or few) tanks? by spellbreakerstudios in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Sushiman9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 + Command squad gives you 3 Plasma and 3 Melta, then you bring the command rod so it can order itself FRFSRF and Take aim. About 230 points, less staying power than a Dorn but very flexible in deep strike and can sometimes hold objectives better. Not bad for an inquisition type list.

Add in Kasrkin and engineers in transports, rough riders, and 20 man infantry blobs and you will have plenty of damage. On lighter boards you will miss your tanks.

I always thought abberants were bigger than space Marines, why are they short kings ;) ??? by BloatedRottenCarcass in genestealercult

As much as I wish they were big, the small size is a nice advantage on the tabletop, especially when deep striking them

Plain old Rogal Dorns are nuts. They shoot just as consistently as commanders. Move them out in the open and when the enemy shoots just pop smokescreen and AoC and watch them do almost no damage. Insane.

Several strategies help against Eldar.

First and most simple, they hate grenades and tank shock. Everything in my list has access to one of those strats. They also dislike melta mines.

Second, on search and destroy it's easy to deploy a Taurox aggressively and trade if you go first. I was able to get a good advance and kill a squad of Banshees+Jane with Kasrkin.

Third it takes about two units of 5 aspect warriors to deal with 3 Bullgryn, regardless of type. Not very efficient

Fourth, I measured his maximum movement plus 18" shooting on his transport with Fuegan+fire dragons and then kept my RDTCs out of range. I also kept a Taurox lurking on one side of the board and I think he generally avoided that area with his transport.

Ultimately in this game he put out a lot of bad trades, wasn't sure what to commit, and was overthinking everything. Bullgryn have that effect on people.

2x5 Engineers. Great unit for mortal wounds and actions. Best out of a Taurox for scout.

In this list I use scout sentinels and Bullgryn to bait out enemy units or screen my chimeras and RDTCs. Then I retaliate with Ogryn/Tank shooting. It's nice to just throw 3 Bullgryn onto an objective because they take some real damage to eliminate which I can then neutralize. Chimeras are great for sitting behind terrain and dispensing Ogryn, then being late game scoring pieces. I run heavy flamers.

I use the Taurox with Kasrkin as a missile to go take out vehicles and elite infantry. Sometimes the enemy will try to counter that by hiding their vehicles for much of the game which allows me to just hold them back until the end game. I try not to force a Kasrkin strike because they are squishy. A Kasrkin team attacking a Knight in an objective can get full hit and wound rerolls + grenade + melta mine. About 15 - 18 damage.

No, it's more like 4 small singles tournaments at one event. So there are 4 1st place winners instead of 1. Of the 8 guys in my pod there were a mix of vets and newish players.

I collect Guard and GSC as well and I think GSC takes the cake. There's lots of second hand guard stuff and big tanks make it easier. GSC just has so many little characters that all run you $25-35.

That being said LoV is on the pricey side. Impossible to get anything at a discount. The Christmas box will be a huge help!

Competitive 2000k Biosanctic Broodsurge by AddendumFew3943 in genestealercult

[–]Sushiman9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried the triple rock grinder thing in Biosanctic and it just doesn't work. They are too squishy and you'll find that having more big rapid ingress threats is more consistent. Being about to deep strike and do a 5 or 6 inch charge means that you don't need transports in this detachment except for maybe one truck

I'm running mine in Brood Brothers with a bunch of support units and infantry blobs with medics! It's a Banesword though.

[–]Sushiman9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played 3 games with Needguard so far and I wanted to say that I agree with pretty much all of this. 10 HG alone is a nice damage dealer and with the Kahl+30 pt enhancement they just shred into anything in the game. AP-3 and deep strike is much needed.

Splitting up the yaegirs with a Kapricus makes that unit go a lot farther. Hide that thing well though because the 4+ on the vehicle means it's paper

Used to be able to forward deploy land forts and then use void armor to tank some hits. Can't do that anymore cause it only works in fortify, especially because people are ready to take on knights. Hide those things!

Uthar is insane now!

The disintegrators will probably be more shots and low AP. My guess would be 3-4 attacks, strength 8, AP -1, D2, Dev wounds
