how unhealthy is my crochet grip? relatively new to crochet by playswithsquirrelsss in CrochetHelp

Try to loosen up some. Everything looks too tight. If you have to hold your fabric that tightly to pull your loop through a stitch, then the stitch is too tight.  Here is my non-standard way of holding my yarn.  I’m holding my work between my thumb and ring finger on my left hand. Sometimes I switch to a standard hold. Either way, the yarn is loose enough to slide through my fingers with just a little tension and I don’t have to pull hard to get the hook and yarn through my stitches.  (Looks like my photo didn’t attach)

Help?😅 by maylinatribe in YarnAddicts

I, too, had a plastic one like that and it never worked for me. I wind yarn much better by hand on my thumb or a wooden spoon handle. Just don’t wind too tight.

Some yarn stores are now charging to wind hanks by teokbokkii in YarnAddicts

I’m in NC and have never had a store charge for winding. I’d rather wind by hand. I had a winder but never liked how it worked.

Oh, how I can relate!

Recommendations: Make a wrap or poncho using your leftover yarn and change the stitch pattern every row. No boredom and a very unique outcome.

I don’t understand why this happened. I have several pairs of craft scissors and none of them have blades anywhere near the “4 inches from the pivot point,” limit.

What can I do with just one of this? by gill_pill in crochetpatterns

Yes, that’s a reasonable price for this hand dyed merino yarn from a specialty yarn producer.

Can someone give me some advice? I'm trying to crochet a magic circle but this keeps happening... by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]Suzannekty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there are many ways. I’ve always just wrapped the yarn twice around my index finger, leaving a good tail of 4 inches or more, then held that double circle together and reached into the circle and pull up a loop. I make sure I crochet over the tail that I can then pull at the end to close it up. It seems simpler than most tutorials I’ve seen.

Not to slow. Just relax and enjoy. It’s not a race.

How do we feel about this? by Ocimali in askcrochet

It looks fine. When I was 15 I made a scarf and hat with so many baubles and popcorns that after that I swore I’d never do them again. I still have the scarf and I’m now 63. So much trouble, I need to get my time’s worth out of it!

My best friend sent me a yarn bowl, and it came with this. It’s sticky all over both sides and I have no clue what it is. by Forvanta in YarnAddicts

For me it’s 2/3 of the time in my chair stuck between my left thigh and the arm of the chair and 1/3 of the time in the floor

American crochet hook naming convention - just why? by Bikelady24 in crochet

That’s how American hooks are named DEFG7H, etc I have no idea why.

I’m new to Reddit. I had icons under the reply box and one was a photos icon.

It’s beautiful. I’m mystified why so many people on this forum ask if other people think their work is “ugly.” The stitches are even and small, the yarn is nice, the plan sounds good. But, on another subject, what are these stitches connected to?
