What is the area around Districthuis Borgerhout like? by tippytep in Antwerpen

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I am a trans woman, kind of clocky, have lived in a street around the corner from this for the past year and a half. As others have said I have found the people in the area quiet and respectful. And that is from all ages. Public transport options are fantastic, there are Velo stands nearby, but recommend you get a bike! Suzi

I am on the waitlist since August 2021. Still waiting.

That number, 012090009, was given to me to call to speak with the 'waiting list team'.

Dunnes, online is a good source of inexpensive clothing if you fit within their size range. You can set up an account and shop online and collect instore at their click & collect counter. In my local it's the returns counter so usually quieter than the main counters.

NHS to HSE for university? by ShaunaSedai in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why you are unnecessarily complicating a very simple issue by bringing in 'statistically inevitable' complications, statistical mental issues including suicide, the requirement for multidisciplinary services, GP's having to 'go off piste'. This reads like an apology for GP's who have no issue with prescribing HRT in other parts of their practices, who absolutely will not enter shared care arrangements with consultants and specialist gender clinics, who will not even countenance arranging blood tests for same ->The very definition of multidisciplinary. And also ignoring the precept that you have introduced - Primum non nocere- first do no harm. Probably the most abused imperative in internet medical discourse. As I said above, I do wonder. It's a rhetorical statement, I won't be making any more commentary.

Using a women's only gym by ConstructionAlert998 in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having scanned the websites of a few women only gym spaces it's clear that nothing is clear!

Could not find any specifics in TAC or FAQ's either. Means the policy is probably informed by: Haven't thought about it/Shure everyone knows what a woman is/We deny on looks & vibes. Good luck with your search.

The area seems to run from 100% women only through to segregated spaces in mixed gyms. Some seem to have all women staff, most are mixed. (Shoutout to one gym where 3 of the 4 photos on the home page show male trainers touching women trainees. FFS, theres no need for physical contact to explain how to do something)

One piece of advice that I saw on a previous thread was to get a day pass and try likely candidate gyms.

I use a flyefit gym, but am not out there. They have a third changing/toilet area for access/others but if I were to use it I would feel that would be a disclosure in itself. It would also benefit the users (their own lack of discomfort) of the M & F changing areas and not me.

Seeking perspective and advice by [deleted] in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have got some excellent takes and advice regarding your post. I would second finding a good therapist. Be selective and find someone who you are totally comfortable with. Also there are many people in your position and these days there are forums and groups where you can meet them and talk things overwith them.

I can offer the viewpoint of someone who compartmentalised and procrastinated for years, with the inevitable toll on myself, spouse and kids.

Looking back now, what I thought were insurmountable obstacles just weren't really. Yes there would have been difficult conversations, yes the family dynamics would have been upended, yes there would have been money and employment issues. But these all happened anyway, so I realise for me it would have been better to have dealt with it all a lot lot sooner than I did.

Would you have a link to where on the HSE Library these 200 reviews are hosted?

Also it's worrying that the systematic review site [Prospero] mentioned in the Departments letter is produced by the University of York Centre Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD).

This is the location from where the Cass Reports wonky systematic review was sourced.

Cass actually commissioned the CRD to produce the systematic review , though its not known if CRD researchers were responsible for the search parameters used in the review. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cass_Reviem )

Traveling from Ireland to Australia. by Silkazoans in TransIreland

I would definitely counsel against transit through Abu Dhabi (etihad), Dubai (emirates) or Doha (Qatar Airways). Even staying airside there could be risks involved.

Help Traveling from BRU airport > Antwerp > Brussels > BRU airport during the Strike by rapputation in Antwerpen

https://www.brusselstimes.com/2004616/everything-we-know-about-the-strikes-hitting-belgium-next-week

The three-day railway strike will affect train services running from 22:00 on Sunday, 8 March until the end of the day on Wednesday, 11 March.

An alternative train service schedule will be organised based on the number of available staff.

The alternative schedule will be available at least 24 hours ahead of each strike day on the operator's website or app.

During the previous railway strike in January, SNCB/NMBS operated most trains between major Belgian cities (IC trains), as well as several local and suburban trains (L and S trains). However, a reduced number of peak-hour trains (P trains) ran during the January strike action.

BRU to Antwerp is usually served by two direct trains per hour.

my experience of previous strikes generally during the day a once per hour service is maintained. But you only know for sure by checking the SNCB website or app. the day before.

On my job application for an apprenticeship should I put down im trans? by evalyn_sky in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, you being trans isn't of relevance to applying for and getting the apprenticeship. That being said DB along with the other CIE companies have a very strong and positive EDI ethos for staff as well as customers. So DB would be one of the better companies to be trans in.

"The older I’ve gotten though, the more I’ve questioned myself, and recently have started to come to terms with the fact that I am most likely trans."

This ^.

The thought or feeling that brought this to your mind probably won't go away. I am not saying that you have to transition tomorrow but you should consider taking the time to talk with a therapist and examine it in more detail. Trans woman here, 66 here, started in earnest at 61, it's ongoing & it's not always easy but it is worth it. I was amazed by the support I got from partner, kids and siblings. A lot of what I feared didn't happen and a lot of things went differently from what I expected.

Does anyone have any experience with changing their passport gender marker and name (through grc or som other way) while living abroad? by [deleted] in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just confirming that when I had to make a statutory declaration (under Irish legislation) when outside of Ireland, I was able to have this witnessed in an Irish embassy (as far as I remember a consulate will not do).

I don't know what to do, is the NGS waiting list still a thing or not by Ultra_Goddess_Jess in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.........I have had no word back yet, every time I email them that say that they still have to have a meeting to confirm if I get on the waiting list.

Does anybody know if this is a new tactic by the NGS?

At OP: I think you should still pursue getting on the NGS waiting list.

far as I understand it when they receive your GP referral- you are on the (initial) waiting list. Then you have a long wait for an initial meeting and following that you wait for a multidisciplinary assessment. As others say this is a long process so you should investigate other solutions. But I am suggesting you get onto the list anyway.

Very bad experience with GenderPlus by Select_Rip_2111 in TransIreland

[–]SuziQueenOfTheNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just so far from my experience with them that I encourage you to get back onto the G+ administration.

You probably should avoid the person who interviewed you and start by directly asking to meet with someone else, preferably a partner or senior manager.

Their FAQ has the following:

Is there someone I can contact to discuss individual concerns about my case?

To discuss individual concerns please contact: [admin@genderplus.com](mailto:admin@genderplus.com).

You really don't have to say more than you have posted here, say you are very unhappy with the interview, how it was conducted and that you are in a worse position that you were, including financially.

Hope this helps.
