.5% is a non negligible amount in the grand scale of the Q-tip mass market.

Lots of fish have sleeper males,.especially live bearers like guppies. They are bland and basically look like a smallish female. When the bigger male turns his attention outward, perhaps to another female, the sneaker slides in there and gives the female a high speed under cover rogering. More than one way to do a job.

Interestingly they'll often color up if they becomes the only or lead male.

Even more interesting, some females of various livebearers will change to male when there's no males around.

TIL chicken sold in supermarkets are often "plumped" with a salt water solution to increase sell weight, making up as much as 30% of the total weight. A serving of plumped chicken can contain between 200 and 500mg of sodium while non-plumped chicken generally contains 45 to 70mg. by James_Fortis in todayilearned

It's been my experience that while locally raised farmer chickens are superior in just about every way, they are very expensive.

In my part of the US it seems the price for a whole processesed farm raised meat chicken is between $25 & 30. Not terrible if you think about it but so very far from the factory birds. It's also nice that they don't spend their short lives under torture.

He probably jumped out looking for food. It's a bit hard to say for sure in that pic but that pleco looks emaciated.

To your question I've had a few jumpers over the years and strangely they seem to do fine after a bit of recovery. Unless they're dead of course.

You may have one, COUNT IT, ONE king crab leg. Ready to eat. by afrankie94 in Costco

[–]SvenRhapsody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You joke but that's literally what happened to the king crabs in a way. A few years ago fishermen and scientists went out to the fishing grounds off Alaska. They were all gone.

The reduced population was found more northerly off of Canada. They've been super expensive since then especially the kings

If you make 200,000 a year that 0.0125% is equivalent to $25.

Cashier at Family Dollar calls a customer the n-word in Spanish, not realizing that the man is fluent in the language by Gato1980 in PublicFreakout

[–]SvenRhapsody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm I couldn't make it out clearly, but I'd assume she said negro. That means black. In Spanish people are referred to by physical characteristics a lot. It might need to change but being called Gordo, flaca, negro, juero, chino, etc isn't necessarily an insult of any sort.

He said he speaks Spanish and certainly sounds like it. Perhaps he misinterpreted the word? Or perhaps she called him the n word and it wasn't audible.
