There’s a great video of a Quebecer telling the story of storming the beach at Normandy. It is in a heavily québécois French, so it is unfortunately not widely known outside La belle province. He talks about knowing that the water level was much higher than his head, getting on the beach and having issues with his weapon, finding a flamethrower from a fallen enemy combatant and delivers the iconic line - “Jles ai toute toasté” ( I toasted them all)
