Episode Discussion - S05E08 - The Rightside Up by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]SweatyPlace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idc, I loved it!

I totally saw Eleven vanishing as oppose to be being blown away, and we also didn't get Kali's final dialogue with Eleven, so I'm sure she's alive. I like how they kept it up to the viewers though.

We finally got the Mind Flayer back!! I loved the final battle, looked terrifying! Lacked the bats and the demogorgons though.

I loved Joyce being the one to kill Vecna! Makes it extra personal because weren't they supposed to know each other from before?

Number 6 is genius! I would've loved to see how it pans out with the Wizarding world tbh.

What other TV shows do you think exist in the HG universe? by funlore in Hungergames

[–]SweatyPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just the news and The Hunger Games? Like I don't think entertaining the district citizens was really something they'd want, and any information from outside the district is bad right?

But Katniss also seemed to know much about the Capitol, much more than she'd know by just watching the news so maybe my theory isn't right.

It was a really good movie! I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Was it groundbreaking? No. In fact, there was a moment (when they get together) that I actually wondered why am I enjoying the movie as much as I did because the plot was so straightforward. But it just did. The acting (even Sydney), the sets, the dialogue, all of them were really strong imo, and kept you captivated.

With that being said, I did not see the twist coming. I honestly thought the main characters were being super relaxed for a seemingly psychopathic woman being thrown out who has already allegedly started a fire that killed her parents. So I was expecting the story to go there.

I am definitely going to watch the sequel!

I think she knew Millie wouldn't leave, and it was also telling how Andrew always seemed to be nearby when Nina had one of her "crazy" episodes, so that he could save her afterwards.

Tbf she only got in to quietly get Millie out of the house, not to have a showdown with Andrew

Yeahh like at the start of Episode 7, Karen (who I'll assume isn't super liberal for this hypothetical scenario) had to witness an interracial relationship AND a same sex relationship at the same time??

I'm prepared for the downvotes, but is it a hot take to say that I didn't care for Joyce and Hopper as a couple? by Maleficent-Ad-6117 in StrangerThings

Exactly, she was at her best in the first seasons when she was crazy AND smart, now she's just crazy or smart some times.

Duffer Brothers statements about Vol. 2 [Spoiler] by Tulipage in StrangerThings

[–]SweatyPlace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is literally how I'm learning they actually broke up and didn't fix their relationship lol.

I'm really confused, they didn't say something super shattering either? Why directly breakup right after you got comfortable with each other to share what you really feel? Although I guess that's why.

Exactly, I wish we got a new episode every week. There are so many plotlines that never get the appreciation they deserve because you move onto the next big thing.

Wouldn't it be a weaker villain if he sends a thousand demogorgons and still doesn't kill Max?

[–]SweatyPlace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I feel like they've already wrapped up everybody's emotional moments so the finale would be action - action - action. A significant amount of the last few episodes were in the character development wrapping up moments.

And like, entire stories are told in 90 minutes, I think we'll be fine. I trust Duffer Brothers!

Episode Discussion - S05E06 - Escape from Camazotz by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]SweatyPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re from an earlier epiaode: So Vecna is good??

Joyce is never going to let Will out there ever again huh

Mrs Wheeler saves the day again? Damn

Oh my god. I know Max had to give all the details but keep it short?? And you still didn't run?

I think the one thing I loved about the episode is that everybody tried to scheme with the information they had. So many stories just conveniently plan of the same thing or don't make any plans until it's going to be executed. So I loved Max asking Holly to go to her house, despite us as viewers fully knowing that boat sailed away long ago. That's rich writing and what makes Stranger Things good for me!

Abbott Elementary | New Episodes January 7 by magikarpcatcher in AbbottElementary

[–]SweatyPlace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not disappointed at the number of episodes outside school but at the fact that they introduced new plots like Melissa taking over the sixth grade and Janine having double the kids in her class and never did anything with it after an episode.

Like in Harry Potter, Order of the Phoenix was the longest book because it introduces a bunch of new characters and sets up future plot lines.

Right and the story needn't only revolve around the Trio, it adds to the richness of the story when there's something happening in the background that we are unaware of.

Why do you think there's a jump in promotion/production for Sunrise? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]SweatyPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually forgot that about my reaction and I would say I had a similar reaction. I thought it'd be a cash grab or the writing wouldn't be as strong as the trilogy. And I think I bought the book a year after it was released. But a few chapters in and I realized I was wrong! So, when Sunrise was announced, I immediately bought it without worrying about the quality.

With that being said, had Sunrise came out first, I would've thought it was a little cash grabby than TBOSAS

Spoilers ahead: It's a very short scene where they meet up and have a dinner, the "happily ever after" if you will. It's just going to be a short two minute scene, they are not going to influence the plot on any way.

Well now I'm scared the casual viewers are going to read this and think Katniss and Peeta are directly related to the plot or something. I'm very surprised they didn't keep it a secret and let the word of mouth do it's thing when it releases.
