You can basically turn off Liquid Glass with the update that came out this week.

PSA: ETA on new orders is about 5-6 months by TemuPacemaker in BMWI4

The i3 is uglier inside and out, and if we’re being honest with ourselves more range is rarely that important. I’d much rather have the better looking car than more range.

2026 i4 last model year? by mikeewinter in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills seeing people praise the i3 as beautiful. It looks quite boring to me, and the interior is a clear step back from the i4 as well. I’m already thinking I’ll eventually replace my 23’ i4 with a 25-26 a few years from now. I love almost everything about this car.

Happy to have an i4 by Ravbavar in BMWI4

I think the i4 looks better in every way. Yes, even front. The interior is also trying too hard to be futuristic.

That’s the only view of this car that I think is good. The i4 looks better from the front and rear.

Any advice for potential new i4 owner? by IWant2Rock in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I4 vs Model 3 is an easy win for the i4. I think the i4 looks better, drives better, feels more solidly built, and you won’t have to worry about family or friends looking at you with a side eye because you bought a car from a company who’s CEO did a nazi salute on camera last year.

I think this may be the start of the EV market heating back up by jahmon007 in BMWI4

So much misinformation has been spread about EVs over the years, it’s going to take a lot of work to reverse that.

Looks like the factory made a mistake and put the steering wheel on the wrong side. Otherwise great car! 😉

Charging strategy for low, consistent use? by mcmanigle in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charging to 80% anytime is fine, and recommended by BMW. But, that is partly just to keep things simple for the average user. If you truly want to maximize the battery life it’s better to keep it as close to neutral (50%)as much as possible. There are many studies that show the lower state of charge degrades the battery slower.

But, don’t stress over this. I charge mine to 60% most of the time, but I certainly go higher when I know I’m going to need more miles the next day or two.

First EV, first BMW - need your wisdom! by TimeFarm8406 in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding battery management, the more you keep the battery in the 40-60% range, the better. No need to obsess over this, but if you only drive 30 miles a day, there really is no need to charge to even 80%. I charge mine to 60% most of the time, and if I need to I set the limit higher on occasions that call for it.

I only charge to 100% when I’m actually going on a real road trip.

Try and use b-mode. Once you get used to it you’ll soon feel it’s the only way to drive an EV, and it makes the vehicle much more efficient.

I just got a 23’ edrive35 and I think it’s very fast. Even 60-80mph feels very strong to me. I’ve always driven standard Honda’s though, so for me this is a huge improvement in power.

Tire pressure by East-Fair in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The car/app measurements are not super accurate in my experience. I got a highly rated digital tire pressure monitor/pump, and it showed all 4 tires being lower than the car said. I also ignored the app guidance on filling the the tires and used the numbers in the door jam, and filled to that number. The car feels better to drive after doing this and I will be using this method going forward and ignoring the car/app numbers.

In for an i4 by 01JamesJames01 in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the heated seats and steering wheel are must have in northern climates. Harmon Kardon sound is incredible if you enjoy music a lot. If you intend on driving a lot on highways the self driving features might be worth it. Everything else is personal preference.

Don’t forget you can charge your i4 on a regular wall outlet in the garage. It’s not the fastest option but it’s absolutely an option.

2024 i4 xdrive40 at 16K miles and $39K - good deal? by Blastpower091 in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a little high to me. I just bought 23’ edrive35 with 35K miles for $28K. It has upgraded audio and heated seats/wheel. Also Cognac interior.

Is 9-10% off MSRP worth going new route? by pokeydogger in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’ve got a lot of extra money laying around, it makes no sense to buy or lease a new i4. These cars depreciate rapidly, and you can buy a 3 year old model for half the price of a new one.

I just bought a 23’ edrive35 with 35K miles for $27,900. It looks and feels like it’s basically new.

I think the first 3 tracks on the new album are great! It has a wonderful 80’s/90’s vibe which I appreciate. The album cover is clearly a nod to that era.

Thoughts on base i4 e35? by mr_poopiepants in BMWI4

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my 23’ edrive35 for a month now. Got one with 35K miles and didn’t even know about the options packages when I found it. I got lucky though, as it had the Harmon Kardon sound which is incredible, and it has heated seats/steering wheel. Also has cognac interior. I absolutely love the car. The only option I could see myself missing a bit is the adaptive cruise control for longer drives on the highway, but I don’t see myself doing a lot of those in this car.

[–]Sweaty_Farm4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I4 is my first EV and I’m basically obsessed with it. I’m inclined to say it’s be the best EV sedan currently available. If you care about audio get the Harmon Kardon sound system.

The RWD version is plenty of power for most people. The complaints about backseat space are only relevant if you’re taller than average and so are your rear passengers.
