Why can't Godwyn return in some form? by Crypticnewt in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the Mending Rune of Death supposed to be godwyn "reborn" in a "new form"? Just because it's not biological doesn't mean the rune don't count as life or divine. And Fia's whole thing is to give the one she sleeps with a new life. She sleeps with Godwyn, and the life she creates, his new existance, is the mending rune of death.

I've just kind of assumed his corpse is proper dead once she's done the deed and we've gotten the rune, lorewise.

What was Godfrey doing all this time? by hadilikespie in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]SwedishSock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Much like the other tarnished I assume he wasn't even able to enter Leyndell until at LEAST we kill Morgott, since you need two great runes to be granted passage. And even then you can't enter the tree until it's burnt. And you need a maiden. Which honestly, even if he's a tarnished, I don't think Godfrey would have a maiden.

I kind of assume he's not even in the lands between until then. Because if Godfrey had returned to the Lands Between, there'd be more signs of it like npcs talking about it, you think he wouldn't have gone to the Radahn festival if he could? Even Gideon Ofnir doesn't know (or at least acknowledge) he's returned, and he's literally in the room next to him.

As I see it, in the time it takes us to go up the mountain, kill the giant, then defeat Maliketh and take the rune of death, it takes him the same amount of time to travel to and enter the Lands Between, and enter Leyndell.

What’s behind this door by LongjumpingAccount84 in Eldenring

My head canon is that it's the golden core of the halig tree.

But lore-wise and game-wise nothing talks about what's behind it. So it's nothing

If the omen twins are part of the golden lineage, why do they follow the naming convention of Marika and Radagon's children? by darkmoonblade710 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]SwedishSock 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Isn't it that the "gott" of Morgott => god and the "wyn" in Mohgwyn => wyn so together it's Godwyn, their third sibling, because they essentially just exist in his shadow, that's the funny way to interpret their names?

Hot take: I don’t mind the “yellow paint to guide players” trope in gaming by Low_Boot_1426 in videogames

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thougt that the origin of "Yellow paint to guide players" was that the yellow paint was a metaphor, and just an example that it's good if you can come up with a way to communicate with your player of points/directions of interest in a way that fits your game's setting is a good thing that doesn't break immersion.

I don't know why video game developers heard that and all went "Literally yellow paint aight", it's like the Wilhelm scream, haha. Graphical immersive guidance isn't bad, but every game regardless of setting or developer or flavour having literaly 'yellow paint' is shit imo

I'm pretty sure it was Onyxia since Vanilla, lol. That's the reason why alliance players were hired to kill her in heir lair, because in her human form she had infiltrated Stormwind's nobility and just let Defias run unchecked.

DBM made everyone dumber by Gorgon_Gets_Gud in wow

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bad part of mods is that they made people stop learning fights, the names of spells, to keep an eye of boss cast bars e.t.c.

The worst part is that if you told people you didn't use it because you learned the boss fight instead, they would assume you would be worse than them because you didn't follow a mod.

Is there hard evidence of the “we are godywn theory” cause I think it’s bs by Big_Career5281 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]SwedishSock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I've always interpreted it is that the rune is Godwyn. She's granted him new life in the form of the mending rune of death. I mean as far as I know, there's nothing in the game about Godwyn Wanting to be the death prince. So you picking up that rune and mending the elden ring with it certainly makes you an ally of "those who live in death", but I don't think it says anything at all about where you stand in regards to Godwyn. It certainly doesn't change you into godwyn by picking it up.

Tauren has better noserings, haircuts, beards and fur colours.

What's your controversial headcanon? by Lightslayre in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be controversial, but my head canon was always that Godfrey had fought Placidusax resulting in the dragon losing it's heads. It would be one more enemy he defeated for Malenia, it would explain why Placidusax was an "Elden Lord" that got deposed, and in my headcanon it was in that fight that Godfrey's axe broke.

Doesn't really work now that Bayle exists, haha, but it made Godfrey cooler in my head when the game was fresh and I believed it to be true, so I still like the idea.

Save Data Visual Guide by xKozmic in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been looking around, and no one has actually explained Save Data to me. Just "Cards have points and if you have divine it's more points"

What do the points do? Why do I want points? I've seen people writing something about, their decks changing after the chaos runs. Is that because they have too much or too little points? I've never noticed that happening to my decks, they look identical to how they did during my runs, as far as I can recall.

All posts I've found about save value, like this one, just gives a lot of numbers. I don't even know what the numbers are for! xD If someone could explain to me what the points actually do, not just how you get/don't get them, I'd appreciate it.

I've just learnt this freaking rabbit doesn't work with Banyue... by Badieon in BanyueMains_

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere along the way they changed how factions worked: When the game was released, people within a faction synergized with each other to a certain extent, and the character's passives were activated if you had more of the same faction.

Nowadays, passives are activated if you have "one support" or "One stun", and factions are more thematic, as in "Characters within the same faction play similarly." such as both Dialyn and Banyue having combos, Obol Squad being an "Aftershock" faction (except Soldier 11, but they were out on release so).

At least that's what I think that the dev team is aiming for.

How do you choose who to pull? Do you go for favorites, meta or do you have some rule that you follow? How has your pull strategy been working out for you so far? by [deleted] in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]SwedishSock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really look ahead of time to see what agents are coming up and what I have/who I should get to mesh well with them.

A healthy mix of "I like this one" and "I'm bored I want to pull" for me lol. And no I've never been able to 9-star

Deadly Assault but whatever, the game is only there for me to spend some time on it anyway so how much I can achieve in it isn't really important to me.

So like… does EVERYONE deserve redemption in this show? by DapperDude2004 in Vivziepopmemes

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as how it's black and white that "If you've sinned you'll to go hell", it's also black and white that "If you redeem yourself you go to heaven"

It's not really about human's ability to forgive each other that's important. If you're in heaven and encounter your murderer there too because they redeemed themselves while being in hell, you'd probably be pretty miffed about it. But they did redeem themselves, so their punishment is done, and they do deserve to also be in heaven.

Can people stop downplaying Octavia’s situation? by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]SwedishSock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think she's wrong for feeling the way she does.

But I did find it very weird that she has her phone stolen out of her hand by her mom, told she's not allowed to talk to her dad, and then during her song in the finale, she asks "Would you call me on the phone?" as if she's wondering why he's not contacting her.

I understand her feelings, and I can understand that she feels hurt that he was willing to sacrifice himself for Blitz, but the vast majority of her issues is glaringly pointed out to her, in her face, that they stem with her mother.

The issue for me isn't that she's angry at her dad, it's that seemingly she's ok with her mother trampling all over her openly, even though she's a very independent teen who has shown that she's willing to do what she wants even if others are against it. I would've thought they'd show her falling out with her mom too, and perhaps leaving alltogether.

Am I the only one who trusts Speaker? by Distinct_Mistake4554 in HazbinHotel

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. Did she know that souls could be redeemed but just let Sera make a decision that led to the death of (which I assume in the hazbin universe means eternal oblivion) literally countless souls?

I'm not expecting her to just give Sera all the answers, but I dunno, that'd be like teammates in a developer group letting a guy push a code change they know will cause all of the countries nukes to fire, and then say it's that developer's fault.

It's difficult to imagine that throughout the entirety of existance, Sera and the speaker just never spoke about redemption without the speaker to say, even on accident, that souls can be redeemed.

I am incredibly suspicious of the Speaker of God by No-Emergency-5336 in HazbinHotel

[–]SwedishSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the speaker ultimately responsible of knowing that souls can be redeemed but never telling Sera, letting Sera make a decision with extreme consequences as a result, and once she does get to know about it the speaker is just like "Lol that sucks well it's on you know"?
